  1. Welcome to the forums! Unfortunately, at least as far as Lagrange points are concerned, it can't be done right now because the game uses a two-body modelling system based on patched conic approximation to determine orbits for spacecraft, while the planets themselves are put "on rails" (as are any craft that are not being actively controlled). Having realistic n-body physics would indeed be quite nice, but it would also significantly increase the amount of processing power needed, because then you'd have to be constantly calculating the effect of every body in the solar system on your tiny craft at the same time through every step of the orbit. The developers have stated that they're working on the drag model, although there's a few mods out there you can play around with that try to add a little more realism. Ferram Aerospace and Deadly Reentry are probably the two best-known. At any rate, if you ever get stuck on some of the finer points of the game, check out the Drawing Board (link in my sig), which has a wealth of links to tutorials and other reference materials about the game. Don't be afraid to ask questions of the fine folks in the How To section as well, as many of them have tons of experience with the game. Happy landings!
  2. I can think of one reason: A tanker to refuel another ship stuck in orbit around Moho. That's what most of my high delta-v designs have spent the last few weeks trying to do just before the 0.20 update. On that note, I had a nice system going with a tug and a modular fuel tank that had ~9000 - 10,000 dV in orbit, not counting the launch vehicle (possibly more if you dropped the fuel tank as soon as it emptied out, but I never actually tested that).
  3. I once built an escape tower from stock parts that worked flawlessly except for one small detail: The sepratrons dumped exhaust straight onto the capsule, destroying it and killing the test crew inside. Later, I figured out how to rotate parts in the VAB using the QWEASD keys.
  4. I seriously would like to know where this silly "Kerbals are plants" idea got started in the first place. On topic: Any plans for showing off a Silbervogel-derived craft in the near future?
  5. Welcome to the forums! If you want to brush up on your rocket science, feel free to check out the Drawing Board (link in my sig). There are a number of resources available there for players of all skill levels, including tutorials that you can refer to should you get stuck with a particular aspect of the game. The people in the How To section will also try to help you with any questions you may have about accomplishing your goals. Happy landings!
  6. Welcome to the forums! If you need help getting started, there are some tutorials for beginners listed on the Drawing Board (link in my sig). The people over in the How To section will also be more than happy to answer any questions you might have about what you can do in the game. If you think you'd understand better in your native language, you can also try posting in the International section of the forums as well. Happy landings!
  7. Welcome to the forums! Glad to hear you've been having a blast with the game. If you ever want to learn more about the game, check out the Drawing Board (link in my sig). It has a large collection of tutorials and other useful links that might help you as you work through some of the game's more difficult areas. Don't be afraid to ask questions in the How To section of the forums, either, as the people who are frequent posters there tend to be quite knowledgeable and experienced. Happy landings!
  8. Welcome to the forums! If you ever find yourself in a particularly tricky situation, or if you just want to get some tips to tweak your designs and hone your skills to get more out of your rockets than you're already getting, take a look at the Drawing Board (link in my sig) for some resources you can use. You can also ask questions in the How To forum, or in the International section if you think you'd understand the answers better in your native French. Happy landings!
  9. Welcome to the forums! Vanamonde seems to have already addressed the concerns about your profile settings, so I'll not parrot what he's already said. While you're here, you might want to stop by the Drawing Board (link in my sig). It has a number of resources that I've collected all in one place for the benefit of players of all skill levels, from absolute beginners to old pros. Don't be afraid to ask questions in the How To boards if you land in an especially tight spot, either. Overall, just take a look around, and feel free to jump right in to any conversation that catches your eye. Happy landings!
  10. Glad to hear it's been working for you. That means it's been doing its job
  11. Welcome to the forums! Unfortunately, I'm not really up on the technical side of things myself, so I can't really address those concerns. However, should you need any help with reaching a particular goal in the game, or even if you just want to do things better than you're doing them now, I'd highly recommend taking a gander at the Drawing Board (link in my sig), which contains a steadily-growing number of tutorials and other reference materials to assist players of all skill levels. The people on the How To forums will also be more than happy to render any assistance should you find yourself in a particularly sticky situation. Happy landings!
  12. One slight suggestion: Double line breaks between paragraphs are much easier on the eyes than single line breaks, at least on a computer screen. Other than that, I'm not noting any serious grammatical or mechanical flaws, so good job!
  13. Alternately, if you're willing to use mods, Kerbal Alarm Clock lets you set alarms that will kill time warp when you approach a certain launch window. You can even customize how far away from the window opening that you want to set the alarm, if you want to give yourself plenty of leeway to get into the right orbit.
  14. Well, it certainly works for me. And that is a good tune. Glad I already plugged the controller into the other port.
  15. @rodion: While I get what you're saying, I also feel like playing devil's advocate a bit. I know who your posts are targeted towards -- and, in fact, in their case I happen to agree with you -- but I feel like speaking up on behalf of those who might have a legitimate concern with the game but don't say anything for fear of being dismissed as just another naysayer. I won't deny that KSP is a sandbox game. I'm not one of those people who was completely put off his game when the update broke most of the mods I use. I had the foresight to keep my 0.19 install around, both in case I could salvage the saves eventually and simply to keep for the sake of comparison to the new update. I've been quite happy with the new features, and I still enjoy the game quite a bit. But, as you yourself say, Kerbal Space Program is an incomplete game, and is therefore in a sense flawed by virtue of that very incompleteness. As someone who enjoys the game immensely, I want the game to eventually reach a significantly less flawed state. I want to do whatever little tasks I can in order to make the game better than it is now, both for the sake of my own enjoyment and for the future enjoyment of other players. As I have little real background in programming myself, the best I can do when I encounter a genuine flaw in the program's operation is to see if I can consistently reproduce that flaw and discern any patterns, then report whatever I find to the development team. I don't do it as a passive-aggressive means of venting about some aspect of the game I don't like; I do it because I honestly care about the game's future. I understand that, from your recent posts on the forums, you have not experienced any of the bugs you see others report. If so, I'm honestly glad you've had such fantastic experience with the game. However, not all computers interpret the same data in the same fashion. Just because you yourself are not experiencing any problems does not mean that someone else running a computer with significantly different specifications from your own will not have a legitimate issue that needs dealing with. Again, I understand that a lot of the bug reports and support concerns here are ill-documented by many users, but don't throw the baby out with the bathwater here.
  16. It really is an extremely handy feature. As others have pointed out, it won't completely replace Subassembly Loader for those of us who use it a lot, but it does cut down quite a bit on what we'll need it for. Hoping to see more work on integrating subassembly support into future updates!
  17. Right-click on the tabs. That will toggle the one you just clicked on without undoing any of the settings on the other tabs.
  18. Welcome to the forums! If you ever get stuck on one of the trickier parts of the game, be sure to check out the Drawing Board (link in my sig). It has a number of tutorials and other materials that might help you get back on track. The people in the How To forums are also prepared to field any questions you might have about what you need to do in order to accomplish your goals. Happy landings!
  19. Welcome to the forums! Copenhagen... You wouldn't happen to know these guys, would you? If you need help on anything, be sure to check out the Drawing Board (link in my sig), which has a number of tutorials and other useful reference materials. 20. Welcome to the forums! Glad you decided to stop by. I won't say it's always a perfect community, but it's definitely one of the better ones out there, thanks in part to our dedicated moderators. Hope to see some of those craft files soon. While you're here, you might want to stop by the Drawing Board (link in my sig). Many of the tutorials are oriented towards newer players, but there's still quite a bit of useful info in some of those links even for old hands who just want to learn something new. The people in the How To forums can also answer just about any question you may have about rockets and spaceplanes. Feel free to look around and participate in any forum conversations that strike your fancy. Happy landings!
  21. Welcome to the forums! Avatar uploading (and a number of other perks) are disabled for new accounts. It's part of a whole system that the community managers have to filter out spammers, trolls, and other ne'er-do-wells. Once you've posted around a bit and the mods lift your restrictions, you'll be able to upload your avatar. Anyway, if you need any help with any of the harder bits of the game, or if you just want to sharpen your skills, I'd highly recommend you check out the Drawing Board (link in my sig), which has a number of tutorials and other useful links. You can also ask questions in the How To forums, where many knowledgeable people should be able to provide the answers you need. Just have a look around, and jump into any conversation that interests you. Happy landings!
