  1. Nicely done. Reminds me of the scene where Hachi first sees the tandem mirror engine in Planetes.
  2. Welcome to the forums! Looking through the Drawing Board, I found this one that walks you through building and flying a ship that can get you to Duna. It's a bit of an older one, but judging by his description, the parts should all be about the same as what he describes (although the craft file he provides for download won't work with 0.19 or 0.20). Hope this helps!
  3. Welcome to the forums! That's a really touching tribute you've made there. Always remember and honor the fallen. And I can understand completely about how absolutely addicting this game can be. I've spent many long hours of piloting myself. Since you're a new player, I'd highly recommend checking out the Drawing Board (link in my sig) if you ever get stuck on anything, or just if you want to improve your skills. There's a number of tutorials and other handy reference aids there. Don't be afraid to post any questions you may have in the How To forum as well. Happy landings!
  4. I was able to solve the issue with the Preferences getting all muddled up. Apparently KSP 0.20 now looks for your PluginData folder inside the Plugins folder instead of as a separate folder within the main game directory. I moved the contents of .../PluginData/engineer to .../Plugins/PluginData/engineer, and that resolved the issue handily. Props to Trigger Au for pointing this out in the thread for his own mod
  5. That's it exactly Moved my PluginData folder so it was nested inside the Plugins one, and that fixed it.
  6. Welcome to the forums! I think Squad mentioned in an earlier devblog that they were changing the way pods would get crewed at the same time that they would be eliminating the need for a pod as the root part. That said, it's an easy fix. All you have to do is EVA the kerbalnauts in your manned pod and End Flight on them. You can then fly the vehicle as normal, since you still have the unmanned probe body providing control.
  7. 1. Send a Kerbalnaut out on EVA. 2. Put him down on the ground. ("One small step..." speech optional.) 3. Right click on your grounded Kerbalnaut. You should see the option to plant a flag in the menu.
  8. Another thing that helps is to turn angle snap off, if it's on. But yes, having a steady hand on the mouse is a big part of getting them lined up just right.
  9. Welcome to the forums! I understand exactly what you mean. Too many games out there these days simply try to get the player to do what the developers want them to do by laying down a trail of breadcrumbs and then "rewarding" them at the end of it for doing exactly what they were told to. In KSP, however, you can set your own goals and challenges, and when you meet them, you know you've accomplished something on your own terms. It really is an amazing feeling. If you ever need help grasping some of the finer points of design or piloting, be certain to check out the Drawing Board (link in my sig), where you can find a number of tutorials and other useful resources for players of all skill levels. Don't be afraid to ask questions in the How To section as well, as many of the people who frequent that part of the forums have a great deal of experience with the game. Above all, just find a conversation you like, and jump right on in. Happy landings!
  10. Welcome to the forums! Funnily enough, helping other people out with understanding some of those finer points you mentioned actually motivated me to start a little project. I've tried to collect some of the best tutorials and resources I can find into a single library of links that I call the Drawing Board (link in my sig). Feel free to check that out, and also to ask questions in the How To section if there's anything you can't quite wrap your mind around but want to know more about. Take a look at the rest of the forums, too, and don't be afraid to jump into any conversation that interests you. Happy landings!
  11. Welcome to the forums! I'd suggest you check out the Drawing Board (link in my sig), which has a number of informative tutorials, including some on how to build effective rocket designs. I'd also advise you to hop over to the How To forums and get some advice from the people there. I'd advise being specific about the sorts of problems you're encountering, as well as taking a few screenshots of your designs on the launchpad and when the problems start, and sharing those. You could also try asking around in your native language in the International section if you think you'd understand that better than English. Happy landings!

Welcome to the forums! Feel free to jump into any conversation that interests you. Also, if you have any questions about something or just want to hone your skills that much better, check out the Drawing Board (link in my sig), or strike up a conversation in the How To section of the forums. Happy landings!
  13. Welcome (back) to the forums! You'll find that a lot has changed in the time you've been away. The game's really opened up a lot in its scope, even just in the short time I've been here. I'd highly recommend that you check out the Drawing Board (link in my sig), which has tons of resources for players of all skill levels. Don't be afraid to ask any questions you might have in the How To forums, as the people who hang out around there are very knowledgeable. Happy landings!
  14. So does this mean that Laythe is now Odin's sphere?
  15. Downloaded the most recent version and ran it on my fresh 0.20 install. I'll share what I know to see if it helps any. The plugin seems to be mostly functional, but a few of the things I've noticed: 1. The actual alarm clock icon appears, but it's "glitched" (for lack of a better way to put it), and it disappears when you bring up the main alarm clock interface. (Fortunately, you can still close the interface by clicking on the space where the alarm clock widget is supposed to be). 2. None of the graphics on the press-buttons show up. The buttons themselves still visibly depress and raise themselves when you toggle them, but the decals are gone. 3. The plugin doesn't seem to be reading any data whatsoever for transfers between different planets. I've attached a few screenshots I took to document the issues:
  16. Did a little crash testing on my install of 0.20 for this plugin. The plugin itself seems to work fine, but a couple of issues I've noticed: 1. The texture skin for the chip parts no longer appears. Reloading the parts from the debug console had no effect. I've attached a screenshot below, with the parts in question highlighted. (The magnetic tape deck was unaffected; skin shows up fine.) 2. The Preferences options for the Flight Engineer appear to be a little bit borked. The options for a particular tab don't appear until the tab has been opened, and once they do appear they're listed in the order you open the tabs. Other than that, I didn't notice too much from the data readouts on the plugin itself. Everything else seems to be in order.
  17. Thrilling stuff right there. Let me know how it ends.
  18. Drat. I thought you were going to save him with the head-bounce trip Oh well. RIP Thrillmaster.
  19. More of a sequence than a single one, but I saw "Motivating Kerbals" come right before "Recruiting Kerbals." Perhaps this explains some of the morale issues.
  20. Salve ad fora! (Took Latin in college myself. It's an absolutely beautiful language.) To take a screenshot in-game, press the F1 button on the top row of your keyboard. (You can also hide the flight interface and call it up again with F2, and (I think) do the same for craft labels with F3.) They should be saved as .png files inside a "Screenshots" folder in the directory you installed the game to. (If you have the Steam version, you might want to check somewhere inside .../Program Files/Steam/SteamApps for the game directory.) If you want to hone your skills even further, I'd like to recommend the Drawing Board (link in my sig) as a jumping-off point. It has a number of quite useful tutorials and other resources for players of all skill levels. The people in the How To section would be more than willing to field answers for any questions you might have as well. Teneam felicitatem inter descensum!
  21. Welcome to the forums! I would very highly recommend you check out the Drawing Board (link in my sig). It has a number of tutorials for beginning players that might help you get on the right track. Don't be afraid to ask questions in the How To forum as well. Happy landings!
  22. First impressions look promising, though I'll have to play around with it a little more. I like the little tweaks and greebles they've added (like the "rotating system" loading doodad that appears during screen transitions), and I'm loving the fact that it loads faster on the launchpad. I'll hold off on moving all of my saves over from 0.19 for the time being, at least until I've played around a bit more and made sure everything still works. Fullscreen seems to be working fine for me, incidentally, so it's not a problem for everyone.
  23. Welcome back to the forums! Make sure you stop by the Drawing Board (link in my sig) on your way back to your former glory. We've been trying to rebuild the tutorial section, and I've been doing my part. Happy landings!
