On the armour debate; a cqrrier generally uses its fighters and/or bombers to attack, having little or no weaponry of its own. Thus, it stays faaaar away from the fight; so ar ouring it is pretty pointless unless you're also trying to make it a battlecarrier.

Less parallell universes and more time travel, methinks - at least, illusions/projections/whatevers thereof. Possibly the future.

Huge carrier with another huge ship inside.
The Error replied to KHTRE's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
R hours? Do you just get in the Zone and build like a mad fiend, then? -
Love the profile! Always had a thing for anhedral (downswept) wings, for some reason. Approve!

Was wondering why my ships were going so slow... they sit rather low in the water, it seems. ...and somehow, my first CVE manages speeds equivalent to the minimum flight speed of most of my aircraft. I guess I really shouldn't expect differently of Kerbals.
-
Between 300 and 350 klicks, best guess.
-
Lookin' good, Logan! And yeah, because the hangar pods sit lower than the center of mass, you need to tweak thrust limiters... or just shift the engines around. Had the same issue designing a Skyranger lookalike. Query... think you can include the spinal VLS tubes? You are using BDA, after all.
-
@weapon managers yes. Each WM can go into Guard Mode seperately, and each can control a different weapon type; one for point defense, one for main guns, one for missiles, for example. A bit awkward to set up, perhaps, but it lets the weapons all find and engage targets seperately. Unfortunately, it's an all-or-nothing type deal. A manager set up for, say, .50 cal turrets will control every .50 cal turret mpunted on the ship. There's no way to designate certain banks of guns to certain managers.

Fingerless gloves? Y'know, I wonder if Kerbals have their own analogue for those. Classy.

O_o dayum. Just a thought on the gunnery side; if you're using BDA, you could add a few of the howitzers to the bow, á la Pegasus. And a thought @ name, perhaps the Battlestar Maelstrom?
-
Not so. The guys are the last 3 to leave, remember.
-
Fear not. I've even bookmarked the page, awaiting new Eve stuff and Prograde City escapades.

Nobody was really sure how it happened. First, there were some budget cutbacks - hardly unexpected, what with all the money being channelled into the Layhte projects. A few personnel were laid off or left, the accountants adjusted things, and life continued. Then, they caught murmurs, rumours flying about like they so often do - Kerbin's population was almost lower than Laythe's now. Dismissing this as untrue, irrelevant, or otherwise unimportant, the Kerbals of the space program trudged onwards, still building them and flying them as they always had. The first signs that anyone cottoned on to were too little, too late; governments moving offworld, countries reloacting into space. Somehow, it happened, despite assurances by some that "a country is huge, their entire population couldn't be in space." It was when the elder members of the program looked in the mirror, at calendars, and at each other than resignation set in; things were approaching their close. Kerbin emptying, the program growing ever smaller, them growing ever older... Soon enough, it was only the three of them left, standing just inside the VAB. Talking, just like they always did. "So... this is it. The last chapter." Bill said, trying - and failing - to keep the note of finality out of his voice. "We did it; spacefaring society, settling other worlds, even starting to explore new stars... we did it all." Bob cut in, sounding weary but content. Jeb chuckled quietly. "So why do I feel like a toy, used and abused and abandoned when it's not useful anymore?" "No need to think like that. Look at the upside; we get to retire in that void that we dedicated our lives to." "Mmm. Still, seems..." "Quiet." Jeb reached over and flipped the switch; as the large doors rumbled closed, they wandered up to their ship, the last one to leave their homeworld. For a brief moment, over the space center, night once again became day.

Developing Duna (pic heavy) - ^_^ with Part 11 ^_^
The Error replied to Brotoro's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
Oh, noes! It's fallen onto the second page! Also, any progress? Duna and aliens make for a rather addictive story, I must say. -
The tiniest plane I could manage
The Error replied to Squiggsy's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
You can go smaller if you scrap the cokpit and use an external seat. -

Cool. Should be interesting to see how the DunaDog Mark 2 (DD Mk.II?) handles in Dunan conditions. -

I'm not a material scientist, but I always operated on the theory that all Kerbal planetary cores are superdense, with the outer layers being closer to normal. Also: aliens! \o/ So if an alien world / star system is discovered, how fast can KSC's eggheads slap together an Alkiebierre drive to fire the Dream Team* at it? *Thompbles, Aldner, Nelemy, Kurt, Hellou, Emilynn
