  1. They definitely had their flaws, and were the least polished of all ksp parts for a while. But, it forced you to be creative- something the new parts don't really do. I still like this rover Use some jaunty angles, and you could make something cool with them. Or something which truly captures the slap things together, tweak it till it works, old ksp way of doing things.
  2. I know VR is mad cool (Once got to use a vive to go into a virtual thing of a space I was designing, was the coolest thing.) But I I don't think it's critical for KSP. Most of KSP is played in third person view, it'd be weird. But if they were to add more features to IVA, and a stock first person kerbal view, it would be pretty cool, provided it wasn't coming at the detriment of something else. Also, don't forget the grade of machine you need to run VR. Most machines people have probably won't have the graphics for it.
  3. Not really. Each of most of KSP's engines each has its own look, with different shapes, textures, its own identity- (Though technically a few come in groups.) These are all just variations on the one theme. They have different details, but over all, are very similar in how they all look. None of them is that recognisable as its own thing. I'll be happier if the parts get a proper polish which preserves each part's style.
  4. Success! Space Cathedral is docked, ready for Jebmass preparations. Sent a disposable tanker up to refuel, so I could have another go at docking. This time, with mechjeb assistance. This time, after much patience - It is finished. KAS was used to create additional links between the two segments. The end result is quite fragile, turns must be very slow to prevent failures in the linking segment. Here, we repositioned it to improve solar exposure. Congregation's about 50 or so kerbals. Didn't really count. On the newer segment, each architectural "bay" is also a docking bay. We shall be ready to mark the coming of St. Jeb Outch. Another harsh reminder to make backups. Always make backups.
  5. I still strut my stuff because it just feels right.
  6. Is it a plane? A rocket? It's something more! This a station for the Church of St Jeb, of the unthrottled booster. Designed as a two stage t- Damn. Woops. Come on... ArrrrGHHHh! All I wanna do is dock the parts of a traditional cathedral in low kerbin orbit. Is that really so much to ask? That's what I did today.
  7. I quite like the look of the parts as they are. Porkjet's parts, while well modelled, tended to look to similar, for my tastes.
  8. Went for a bit of a drive. Bit underwhelmed by KSP's wheels right now, these are struggling on the small slopes, when I used to be able to take a vessel 2.6 times the mass of this up 30 degree slopes on planet Eve, with the same four wheels.
  9. In light of recent political events: I'm moving to planet Eve, Where I intend to live on a boat. Or perhaps a mermaid.
  10. It's a training exercise. We're going to have fireworks. I'm not amassing a warfleet. You're amassing a warfleet. And so's ya dad.
  11. Today, a new generation of Sh'tulle took its first flight.
  12. Even better, IMHO, would be for the contract system, (or even better, the whole of career mode), to be set up in a way that the story emerges as you go, rather than as pop up tasks to follow. The problem is an experience based rather than a follow the task based approach would require a lot more to be added in to career mode, like time budgets and stuff. It would be more like this: You succeed in landing on the Mun, get extra publicity and now have funds to try a run for Minmus. Or perhaps you could try develop a space station system first. You know that by building a space stations, science organisations will be willing to fund the experiments going on up there. And if you keep developing this stations, boosting its crew capacity and building a reputation for safe launches, it would do well if you set it as a destination for tourists.... Then again, going to Minmus would only require a small change to your current design, and could be just as good a publicity boost. The same design could later be modified for longer term Mun missions, which could lead to new discoveries, more publicity and funding, new opportunities.. The problem with KSP career stems from the way the developers put so much effort into recreating the engineering aspects of space flight, but then approached the things supposed to achieve with that space flight from the perspective of "how can we make players win points?" rather than "How can we make the players feel like they're really running a space program?" They also focused to much on things happening down on Kerbin, with companies and part development and stuff, rather than the interesting parts which happen in space. They're slowly moving away from it, modelling things like the communication systems and such. They've shown they can do complex systems, with heat and aerodynamics, and such. But they need to grasp that things like tourism, research, etc, should be modelled and simulated too, not just thrown in as quests from in with a somewhat situationally aware random number generator. Rather than a scripted progression, playing the game should put the player in positions where needs emerge, and opportunists are found. Like when playing the sims, or sim city, where a balance is found between randomly generated tasks, and situations where the player's choices and actions create situations which have consistences. E.g, you send a sim out for a swim, but they are getting too tired, so you have to send someone out with a boat to rescue them or whatever. KSP would be perfect for that non scripted, emergent model of game play.
  13. More or less, but there have been some improvements, and interesting parts added. Career mode sounds like it's been getting less terrible, but I haven't touched it for ages. If they were to expand, they ought to make use of the untapped potential to make KSP a science and exploration game, not just an engineering and flight sim. KSP is able to put you many roles, pilot, engineer, explorer, manager. This broadness should be capitalised on. KSP is a great example of a game that needs no weapons, I don't think it should break that. There are other flight and building games out there. What makes KSP special is how it both accurately and accessible does space, IMHO, this is the core they should keep building on. I don't really see how it would work well with an aircraft focus. Though they're slowly adding in more details, science still seems more like just point scoring, many contracts just checkpoints to hit. I'd like to see more things to do on the ground, an in space, and more complicated goals for bases and stations, so they player can find and meet their own needs rather than just the requests from contracts. More space infrastructure. Like designating stations and bases as tourist sites, and having tourists want to go there based on desirability conditions. Moving from an unlocking progression with costs limits type game, with an endless auto generated task list, to an achievement per time, endlessly improving type game. KSP financial mode, with crew and staff salaries, sponsorships, budget per reputation and time... Ground exploration. Geology layers. Photography targets. They could add to the existing 'biomes' system, respond to altitude, slopes, temperature, time of day, location between key points... There's a lot of stuff they could do.
  14. Stealth Rover! Post compilation. Formatted and reposted for a new generation, these are the adventures of Stealth Rover! Probably the largest sneaky rover out. Open the spoilers for military mystery and supersize sneakiness. Each post is pretty short. Do it. You know you want to. Nothing to see here.... Introduction to Stealth Rover Antarctic Escape Capture Spaaace! The Chase Blog Special Return of Stealth Rover?? Stealth Rover and the Krystal Kerbs A show of force Nothing to report
  15. That's their base? That's right. They're the ones who keep wrecking my things. What? This motley bunch of Kerbals? An old Defect-O-pod rover? And this shameless display? I was hoping to face Stealth Rover. You don't need me for this. Just blast them with the ship. *Sigh* Fine. Wait. Who is firing on us? That Symbol! That Foliage! STEALTH ROVER!! Fire barrage! Widespread! Stealth Rover? Why are you so small? Why are you so weak? I was expecting a legend, but this is pathetic! Your space program is in tatters. Soon, you will be twigs. You! You have lost! _ _ _ _ _ Yeah. So that's what I did in KSP today.
  16. If they're going to make a new game, they ought to try an make up for the areas KSP original is lacking in. Namely the science, exploration aspect.
  17. Oops, I deliberately the whole space center. Who can save us from this aerial menace? Could it be? The return of Stealth Rover !?!
  18. I suspected that.. A thrilling chapter. A result hoped for, yet done imperfectly, yet with different gains all together. The tension. Perfect. Worth the wait. Deserves a million views.
  19. This is not an invasion. It's a scouting mission. We're here for scientific purpose- Tangy Kerman: " Signs of activity over there." Kedrin Kerman: "I got it." This is not a weapons demonstration. The blasts are exposing rock strata. This is not a squadron practicing formation flying. This is definitely not a prototype warship on its way to solve an issue on the Mun. I assure you my intentions on Duna are entirely peaceful. You all have nothing to fear.
  20. OooOOoo00ooo.. Feel my unbridled rage! I would. What a majestic craft!
  21. IMHO, it was creating a career so shallow, rather than one intended to give the experience of being a space agency... rewards for hitting trigger events, not actually achieving spacey things. I also think non-mode might be a better approach, as but it might make balancing game stuff hard?
  22. I would, but I still haven't finished other writings I started many munths ago.... That is not my work, it is part of the old SciFi Shipyards mod. credit for that mod goes to @StarVision. The Peridot style arm attachments are. Done using KIS, and something I may release at some point. The suit texture is mine also, but it's a bit dodgy so idk.
