Oh please no. Leave the parts alone. They are fine, at most they need a touch up. I'd rather they do new models, but keep the parts looking much the same. They should be doing something that will improve the game, not pointless changes. If they do anything with the parts, they should add more variants, in particular, adding some character back to parts they took it away from. Like the decouplers. All the decouplers look the same now, and you can't just pick which is which at a glance.

It is a slightly different shape too. It's another thing that still slightly bugs me about the new one, it's much closer to a flat cylinder, it looks less like it's own thing than the old one which had that bottom curve, being done before we had heat shields.
-
It's not bad, and I don't dislike it. The detail is nice up close partially, but further away and it just doesn't quite pop out visually like the old one.
-
How is it that the old one looks better? Look at it, it's got good contrast, with definite features. The new one looks muted, it looks like something you'd find in a mod

Similarly, I must honk my own horn: Faking a Mun Landing was fun Additionally, while it was hellshly difficult at the time, lifting the legs of the Arkingthaad as part of the 2014 kerbin cup was quite something. So was building the trophies. Not a regular challenge, but still.

Meanwhile, on Kerbin's North Pole Mitfurt: The sensors are showing something entered the security zone. Anything out there? Samcas: let's have a look Samcas: hmmmm Samcas: Nope. Nothing to report. Samcas: Nothing to report at all Also, the problem with building big radio towers for the fun of it is it makes the comms path algorithm make some odd choices. Despite there being perfectly adequate towers on kerbin it can reach, my signal is being sent via my new tower on Minmus

totm august 2019 The battery-less movement thread
Tw1 replied to dnbattley's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Infiniglide, Kraken Drive, Ladderforce, and now this.... Any chance at free power, a KSP community member will find it -
Would you Trust this Kerbal? Jeb tells me this will be a great way to watch the planes. I have questions. Is it just me, or is this kerbal's hair was really working with her skin tone? This kerbal is not having a good day These two kerbals are busy working on my newly rebuilt base. It's here: This kerbal is all on his own, in a vessel far from home, Bill wants you to draw him like one of your french kerbs. I don't envy these kerbals sometimes But they do get to do an see some cool sights "Hi, how can I help you?" The dramatic angle of pilot for the media camera on this vehicle is confirmed to work

May the Mods spare this old thread resurrection, for it is my thread, and it's new relevant content Hello, and welcome back! It's a 2019 edition of the That's right, we can rebuild it. We have the technology. It's time, and so on. One of the flaws of the original M.I.S.S.S. Central Hub was it failed to make use of Minmus's low gravity. It was too short and squat. But I can't completely redesign it. It's in the logo. It's iconic. Instead, I've elevated it. Now inside, there is room to bounce. A central platform and roof, both in easy jumping range. I'll take you on a tour of the new hub another time, as now, I have a new structure to debut. The Minmus Communications Tower! Based on the same principle as a similar, if much more massive tower previously built on Kerbin, and located on the pole, this will have a near constant line of sight to anything in the solar system. Plus, it has that M.I.S.S.S. 20th C/Space Deco aesthetic. However, on the pole it won't have any connection to the hub, as it located near the equator, at lat = 3.89 lon = -86.0 I could do a network of satellites, and probably will at some point. But I want something a little more stable. Introducing Minmus Subtower 1 Centrally located between the hub and the tower, it relays signal between them. Let me tell you how they got set up. Successful connection.

There was speculation Laythe's oceans contained a lot of ammonia, back in the early days. So perhaps they can breathe, just not for long.

I have done just that, thanks for the suggestion

I performed an Experiment Turns out they can overheat without a helmet on like this too. Actually, someone should try messing around with hyperedit, and seeing if they respond to changes done that way

I wonder if there are any long time players/forumers who will recognise the vehicle I've just rebuilt. But now, I can only report my doings in the form of a rant The stock wheels still such garbage. We had better wheels in Alpha and Beta. Try to build anything larger than a go-cart, and say goodbye to the ability to climb hills. Spam lots of wheels to try to get a little strength, and say goodbye to any use of physics warp - you'll just bounce all over the place. All these wheels, and I still barely get any traction. I just want to climb slopes of up to15 degrees, a powerful vehicle should be able to handle that. </Rant> Do you see that? That is a face of a Rover who knows all the trouble it has caused (And is very thankful for the effort I went to to make old its parts work again) Meanwhile, in another save: Uh... Abort system worked and everyone lived. A+ Re-using Apollo style hardware built for the Mun on Minmus, makes for such overkill. In this version of an Apollo mission, no one was left in the command module, because the command module pilot jet packed down to visit Speaking of Apollo, if you often post here, you might remember my Aircraft Carrier and attempts at a helicopter in the past few pages. This was all in aid of my big Apollo Reenactment, which pulled in details from all the Apollo missions. This mission report can be found here.

50 Years, 50 Kerbals -- Apollo 11 50th Anniversary Tribute
Tw1 replied to LitaAlto's topic in KSP Fan Works
That's a lot of landers. And that's a lot of Kerbals! -
This makes me curious, maybe they could put a time limit on how long you can be on Laythe without the helmet. Let the thing tick down, and poof, no more kerbal.

I also have a problem, the propellers don't work for boats. I've tested it here- 290 replies

I have found propellers won't work when partially submerged. This put a stop on creating stock boats and aquatic rovers. Here is an experiment to demonstrate: Here, propellers have it going like no one's business But here, same set up, and you're quite literally dead in the water I hope this is an oversight and not intended. Sure, water propellers are slightly different, but it's not like an airplane prop would be useless. It would be great to see this patched, so we can build stock propeller powered watercraft, for Eve, Laythe, and just on Kerbin.

50th Year Special - My ultimate Apollo Reenactment
Tw1 replied to Tw1's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
I'm linking the craft file here for future reference, and incase anyone wants to look at my work. I've used breaking ground expansion parts, mods used are KAS, KIS, Kerbal Engineer Redux, mechjeb, and kerbaltek's Graphotron. TW1's Ultimate Apollo Reenactment edition Apollo Spacecraft I originally rushed the launch vehicle so I could get going. I've since gone and made a few changes, and the rocket is better for it Modifications include: Tower details Launch escape system 99% less exploding engines and less structural wobble Gratuitous Ullage motors Fixed some issues with symmetry and fuel flow Added the ability to shut down the central engine before the rest before staging. Adjusted the strength of faring and heatshield ejection. If I want to fly it again in the future, it will be ready. KApollo 1.2 made some first steps on Minmus, at a spot I like to call Starfield Plateau, And kApollo 1.3 is set to land near the Mun's prograde point. The locations of my old M.I.S.S.S. and Prograde City respectively. I'll also throw in a link to my original Apollo, done years ago. This was the original disney animated to the one above's live action CGI https://imgur.com/a/vdR5f Now I've just perfected all this, my brain is saying, you know how you weren't perfectly happy with the silhouette of the rocket or lander, what if you redo the whole thing like this and this, and .... nope. time to do something else. -
IDK what she's found, but it's not good.

50th Year Special - My ultimate Apollo Reenactment
Tw1 replied to Tw1's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
It would be you who notices that bit , with all the names you've given to spacecraft. I made it subtle here, but this was a thing when the Australian government announced our new space agency a few years back The recovery mission was one of my favourite parts, I'm very happy with that boat's aesthetic, and running kerbals around on top is great fun. -
50th Year Special - My ultimate Apollo Reenactment
Tw1 replied to Tw1's topic in KSP1 Mission Reports
I actually part clipped an external seat inside. Here's what Valentina's place looks like: I considered just editing the part file, (and TBH I had to do that a bit so those internal bits would survive splashdown,) but this way felt more kerbal.
