This this is beautiful. The engineering, and the narrative.

In which I continue to experiment with massively oversized communication towers: Behold the Kerbin Communications hub! One omni directional cluster, with expanded capacity horizontally. Crew of 2 Engineers, 2 scientists, is fully equipped for research and maintenance. 130 meters up. Also, it is armed, and fully capable of defending itself. I figured, why set up several big antennae at different locations on the globe, each which only covers part of the solar system at a time, when you could have one huge one at the pole, which covers everywhere at once. The North Pole is just over a kilometer away. A network of ladders leads to the top Getting down can be achieved quite simply: But getting back up is a bit of an ordeal It's so tall, it needs an intermediate step. Epic, And the new backbone of this save's comms network, gives a clear, signal out past Jool.

My First ever duna landing, and subsequent extended mission was made possible by the tosh cart. They were fun.

It's not a superweapon, I swear! For real this time! Took some nice pictures in space. Marked the passing of a favorite space probe. Set up some ground relays. In theory, a faster (If you imagine cheating as on the ground construction) way of setting up deep space communications compared to far flung relay satellites. Still needed small kerbostationary sats to link back to KSC. Located on either side of the planet, these are "Kerbin's Ears". There's just something so epic to me about isolated, metal truss towers.

I hope so, but it's quite a different probe. Spin stabilized, solar paneled (risk of micrometer damage?) and a different range of instruments. But if it's possible to take it on a Jupiter (almost wrote Jool) moons tour afterwards, that would be amazing. But does it have the delta V? Yeah, it gets the idea across, but not exactly a real show piece eh? To build this you must need the skills of a surgeon, and much patience. I wonder if that guy who made a paper kerbal a few years back could. My thoughts for if I try something like this again- stick parts on thicker card, print at larger size. Anyway, here are some Kassini photos: And also, as a bonus, an image from an alternate reality where Cassini didn't like the idea of its mission ending, and decided to take it out on mission control. (Because I used a few BD armoury parts to get the look of some bits, and figured I might as well use them,...)

Thanks! Only just though, the infamous ruling on Pluto was about a year away. Cassini has long been a favourite, I think I've ended up doing projects on it in highschool and university too. I know right? Due to a combination of limited time, a chance I might not get time on the 3d printer (through uni), and ambition to have both done for my event, I rushed mine. Learnt a lot doing it, but it's a bit of a mess up close. Plus, it would have been better on thicker paper. Do post photos if you're able to spend more time on it, and get it looking nice. The 3d print wasn't without problems. Two parts needed a reprint, there was a slight warping, and some parts wouldn't line up. Still pretty cool thought, and solid enough to fly it around with my hand. I do want to try my own kerbal version, but maybe later on.

I am sad to see it go I remember as a kid, talking about Cassini and Huygens- I was in year 5 when it arrived. Here's an old school report, which I dug up for an event I put on with friends to mark it tonight. Cassini was an awesome machine. It's been out there, bringing in news, and new images from Saturn most of my life. I'll miss the updates. Had to mark the occasion, invited some friends over, and managed to find time to quickly make some models: RIP Cassini. You leave a legacy of great science, beautiful images, and a design which will no doubt continue to influence missions of the future.

Those are situations, not "biomes" (which is still a terrible misnomer).

Hey guys, I wonder if I could get some opinions on merging characters. My glacially updating story From a Childhood Dream is slightly unique, in that it is an origin story based of the actual game's origin- so some real live people are going to pop up in it. I used one character "Goyarza" to roll them into one, and be a separate, fictional entity. The story is somewhat minimalist, and only one means easier illustrations, less to think about in the dialogue. Using both of them is more accurate, and I did think about sending this to squad when done maybe, but I didn't approach them for permission to use their likeness. (I did for Harvester, a main character). I'm not so interested in legal issues, they're bit parts anyway, more about how it works as a story thing?
-
So,though I continue to break records for slowest updating story ever (Sorry guys, thanks for sticking around.) more is in the works. In a previous upload, I created one character to represent both Adrian Goya and Ezequiel Ayarza. Now I'm considering editing, and doing them as separate characters. Any thoughts on this? Adrian Goya

What is this? Kerbals in an office? What am I doing? Finally preparing the next installment of something? Astro-Grab was reasonably successful. Failed munar capture, but got a Kerbin Parking Orbit after about 5 bazzilon aerobraking passes. Those things have plenty of inertia. Then, it was time for some asteroidomicical fun! It big. "We were so lucky to win tickets!" "Tell me again, what sort of cruise is this?" "It's a cruise missile!" " . . . " "........" "AAAAaaaaaah!!" This thing is still stuck, and will probably remain so. Also, spent ages trying to get all my mods updated for 1.3, finally. When this happens, it's always bothersome for pilots, but astrogeoscientists love it!

A flash back to the time I held a Barbeque.

That fantastic water is from a fresh installation of scatterer- they've done an amazing job. The Arm thingies are an unreleased creation of my own - some parts still don't quite work. Needs KIS, and BD armory to work. Peridot's Limb Enhancers As for the other mods, what I've got here is mostly KAS, KIS, Lack Luster Labs, BD armory, Hyperedit because I didn't have time to fly it all the way there, the old Weight Additive gismo mod for ballast, (old, and pretty dodgy).

[1.8.x- 1.12.x] LLL Continued Dev Thread - New BETA Release
Tw1 replied to linuxgurugamer's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
I looked through both, but the part in question was not listed in either one, so I presumed that it was not likely the cause of this issue. Tested it without them now, and the issue persists. It still doesn't load first time. -
I was testing a one kerb missile, when I was forced to abort, somewhere in the middle of the southern ocean. No land in sight. My kerbal, weighed down by equipment, began to sink. I decided to see where this was going. Doing "experiments" all the way down. It got darker and darker. By 1Km down, There was no natural light at all. Touched rock bottom, Allock kerman planet a flag. It was a new frontier. Naturally, I decided to make a base here. Getting it down in one piece was not easy. It's tricky operating under water. With about 0.2 tons of extra ballast, a kerbal will slowly drift down while swimming. The base is touchy, and prone to exploding new additions. It's dark, cold, dangerous. It's also quite finicky, drop something the wrong way, and the physics engine may decide it's time stuff started floating to the surface. Also, I might have started trying to revived my longest running save. The Oceans of Eve save.

[1.8.x- 1.12.x] LLL Continued Dev Thread - New BETA Release
Tw1 replied to linuxgurugamer's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
Hi there. This thread seems quiet compared to the old days. I have an issue. I'm using the airlock part, but I've got this problem where the part only shows up when I re-load the database, meaning any vessel with it on it won't load when I first boot the game. Here is a file containing the offending part, and KSP logs, with just LLL and the squad folder. In this, I loaded, opened the editor, reloaded the database, then went back to editor: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B1vN0EZA5Ez4dUJnci1WQTkydnM?usp=sharing Any advice much appreciated. -
I laugh in the face of Death. Though really, from now on, bailing out will be part of my abort procedure for an improvised type abort. It seems more survivable. Do these engines work? Yep! And the ominous black blob (A.K.A, Astro-Grab ) Well on its way to grabbing that D-class, for a lunar orbit capture. Also extinction event prevention.

What are we going to do today Jeb? The same thing we do all the time Bob. Try to over take the world.
-
Me neither. I mean, he doesn't really have the fingers to make use if it. Could be used in space for some gyroscopic experiment but those are my spinners, and I don't want them blowing up on the launchpad. The original image was made as a reply for a facebook comment, but I like the comment in my post better. Context is boring.

My Missions patches & KSP illustrations ! [28/05/2020] Buran !
Tw1 replied to DiscoSlelge's topic in KSP Fan Works
It does look pretty good in Illustrator. -
I'm not quite sure why I made this... Clipping masks are one of so many useful things to learn in Photoshop. This is pretty good. Have you tried illustrator or inkscape? I reckon your style would work really well in vector.

Only if you all promise to edit quoted posts for compactness in the future (sorry, pet peeve.) Boom. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1vN0EZA5Ez4Wnk2YlpBTTN5WVU/view?usp=sharing Don't make too many too fast.

When you want that booster gone, "Angle for best results." I've heard they help with ADHD? I had the kerbals manufacture one. I promise you, mine spins the longest- DAMN IT Scott Manley said this could happen. I blame the atmosphere. And gravity. There. Still going. Believe it or not, still going. And perfectly fine. And sort a mesmerising. Is this how it's supposed to work?
