What's worse is when you are typing B ) for a list of things, and it turns it into B). But then again, I hate waiting for the emoji screen to load up, so I'd almost rather have the shortcuts. So I dunno. Edit: Of course, it doesn't do it this time. But you get my point.

I am laughing so hard at the thought of a worker in a wheelchair drifting along side the big yellow trucks in the VAB. So wrong though....

For Questions That Don't Merit Their Own Thread

Well, my off the cuff reaction would be that we'd free to death rather quickly. Maybe not quickly since radiative energy losses would be reduced, but they would still be there. The sun's energy wouldn't be nearly as strong here. Venus might eventually become habitable. The visible universe would be vastly smaller. But as mentioned, without fleshing out all the math, I'm just guessing. We'd need lighthouse lights for head lights on our cars to make them driveable I'd guess too. -
MJ is really nice for this too. But you do have to sets the specs for each launch. You also have to consider surrounding territory. On very low gravity bodies, you can start your gravity turn immediately, and burn towards orbit. But I have on occasion, not accounted for high terrain "around the corner" and slammed into the side of a mountain during launch. So I adjust my flight path angle to accommodate.

I can get behind this one.

Have you ever used a Launch escape system
Gargamel replied to Kroslev Kerman's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I believe over on the subsim forums, I read a story that somebody had setup just this, and their kid learned if that they screamed "Alarm!" as they walked by, they would execute a crash dive. -
Depends on the bullet really, some are designed to fragment, some are designed to stay whole. But in this case, being the recipient of said bullet, I'd much rather them stay in one piece. But I'm also extrapolating that, in this case, "bullet" is just a place holder for some high speed, medium mass object traveling at orbital velocity.

How can I allocate more RAM?
Gargamel replied to icanhazurhp's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
If you are running 1.5, there is no 32 bit version. But in Steam, for the other versions, I don't know. Guys? @bewing @4x4cheesecake @Rocket In My Pocket?? -

I really don't see why not. From the amount of stuff the mythbusters ended up doing with duct tape, I would not be surprised if this was possible. Durable? Probably not. Well Articulated? Probably Not. Air tight? In the short term, yeah, but I wouldn't go out on a space walk with one. What's the format? I'm assuming pics? I bet some people skilled in the ways of photoshop would be willing to change the format and reduce it appropriately for you. -
That could very well be your issue. Try recovering something for 50k, right off the pad, and see if it works. Then keep increasing the value till you see a failure. This might just be the case of the devs not foreseeing how crazy we really are, and using a variable type that can't handle the size, although, the behavior really doesn't match that exact hypothesis.

Landing Legs with Hooks
Gargamel replied to SwissSpace93's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
There is also the harpoon part from KAS which will harpoon the ground, and then use the winch to haul you in. But with a 6km radius, you should consider docking with the surface rather than landing. Treat it like a big asteroid, then use the KAS ground anchor or harpoon to finish the sequence. -
Looking at how your lander is resting..... that might be inevitable.

Same here. Even the big tourist busses that the LES wouldn't even budge, I have a planned abort sequence to save them, if not a custom 'heavy lifting' LES. -
Krakens are people too!

Well.... this would lead me to believe you don't have them enabled. But a strut is a physical part that connects to parts together to become "rigid'. They are just reinforcing pieces that you can add on to your ship. An Autostrut is an invisible strut that can be added vie the right click window on the individual part in the VAB/SPH. One common issue with phantom forces is if you happened to have autostrutting set to "heaviest Part", and then a heavier part docks with your station/base. The autostruts detach from whatever they are stuck to, and re-attach to the new heavy part, causing a whole bunch of phantom forces to erupt throughout your ship. To disable them on your base, right click each part, and see if any of the autostruts are on. If you don't see anything, you might have to enable 'advanced tweakables' in the settings menu, but then they wouldn't have been enabled to start with. If that's not the case, then report back, and we can offer up something else...

Well, first off, stick with the default forum font and size, it's just easier for everybody to read. You can get a screen shot by hitting F1. then upload that to a image hosting site, like Imgur. You can then link it it here. Alright, now we're getting somewhere. . Did you do anything to it after sitting back down? Or did it crash while you were away? Does it always crash at the same spot, or just this one time? Sometimes, programs just crash. But if it's always crashing, then we can narrow it down. The KSP.log I mentioned would be of great use to us here.

I know others will have better answers, but a conical pod is steerable. You can change the angle of attack on re-entry to change it's flight path a bit. -
But if they're not... I'd almost want the bullet to pass clean through, with it only making two bullet sized holes. With armor, and that's what we're basically talking about now, you can get spalling, which is the fragmentation of the wall into shrapnel. That may cause a lot more damage, to people and interior components, than two little holes would. Yes, the parts/people immediately inline will get damaged, but explosive spalling inside a spacecraft seems worse to me. Not only can it cause immediate damage, but the particles can also get inhaled very easily. As we've recently seen on the ISS, small holes are easily fixed. Even if the bullet is caught, the way kevlar works is by deforming to absorb and dissipate the energy of the projectile. That alone may cause damage to interior structures, and the lack of holes might make it difficult to fix as easily. I know I have treated people in the trauma ED that have been shot wearing vests, and some of them still have broken ribs, one even punctured a lung from it.

Player achievements!
Gargamel replied to Astrodym's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Final frontier is another good one in that vein, VHM. Instead of player achievements, it tracks individual Kerbal achievements. -
You really need to provide more info. What did the game do? When did it crash? What did you do, if anything, to make it crash, etc. Screen shots of it happening might be useful. This is like going to the doctor and saying "I'm sick", but not saying anything else. That log file really doesn't tell us much, either. Read this: And then post up your Ksp.log to your pastebin account, thanks.

Player achievements!
Gargamel replied to Astrodym's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Welcome to the forums. There are achievements in game, at least in career mode. You can earn world firsts. But achievements tend to stifle creativity in my opinion. If you give players a list of things to accomplish, then they will often only accomplish those things. The free form nature of KSP is what lends it self to the explorations we do for our own personal achievement. And bragging rights here on the forums.
