  1. From the BBC: ”On board the missing craft is a retired French diver, who would know the protocol to alert search teams is to bang for three minutes every half an hour.”
  2. Noises are one thing, but noises on 30 minute intervals are most likely survivors tapping on something. Although, in “On the Beach” one of the missions of the sub was to figure out what was sending the signal from Seattle over the radio. Spoiler (yes I know it’s 50 years old, but still a good read):
  3. Undersea cable laying ship has arrived on scene for the search. They have multiple DSRoV vehicles available, and presumably maybe the ability to drop a line and lift something up that far. If not, then finding the sub would be a great start. Something with lifting capabilities is probably enroute. They supposedly have a 5 day air supply. So given the fact there’s no “hatch”, but a lid that’s bolted on from the outside only, doing a DSRV rescue mission wouldn’t work. They’re most likely going to need a cable lift up to the surface. But my guess is structural failure of some sort and this is all moot. The SOSUS Lines would have surely heard something if it was catastrophic. Whether or not the USN makes that info publicly available is another story.
  4. Dang it @Shpaget, I watched that two days ago, made my SO watch it, followed up by the PBS Space time episode of “Supernova will kill us all”, meant to post it and completely forgot. Given for what I could tell from that graph, once the end game starts, it’s pretty rapid, on a human scale.
  5. Considering the whole last page isn’t about the OP anymore, the OP’s question has been answered, and we’re just rehashing the same arguments again, we can safely lock this thread.
  6. Tourist sub has gone missing: Titanic tourist submersible goes missing with search under way https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-65953872
  7. It’s not a problem moving it, no worries! And yeah, there’s been many many threads about the seniors being ‘broken’, when in fact they’re just upside down.
  8. Moved to KSP1 gameplay questions. And yes, putting the seniors on upside down is a common mistake that we’ve all made at one time. There’s even a meme pic about it.
  9. I don’t think it’s ever been unlocked.
  10. Let’s not forget the topic for this thread, which is how the community here has been treating its fellow members. Let’s steer away from bashing the devs (we have how many other threads for that?) and back onto the original topic.
  11. No, not really, I was and am willing to wait till they iron it out. I’m pretty sure it’ll get there, and when it does, I’ll happily play it on my couple year old rig. I’m already accustomed to 30-40 minute load times with 20 burn times in KSP. It’ll get optimized and will run fine eventually.
  12. I’ve been out of school for a few decades now, a century even if you squint, I have a good job and make good money, and I still can’t afford a high end rig.
  13. Please don’t cross post multiple threads in different locations. It will only fracture the discussion and lead to confusion. Please direct all discussion to this thread:
  14. @LittleBitMore, thank you for the post. You obviously did put a lot of effort into it. I know it was well received by the rest of the moderating team and even some of the staff. It was pleasant to see a post encouraging such positivity during a quite rough patch in our community. As for what has or hasn’t been removed by moderators, well, we don’t normally discuss moderation, but I think there’s some confusion as to what we’ve been doing as a moderation team. Let me state clearly that we, the moderators, are community members first and foremost. We’re volunteers who loved this community enough that we decided to help maintain these forums as a great resource for discussion about the game we love, and scientific debate in general. We don’t care what you think about the game. Our job as moderators is not to defend the game. We fully encourage constructive criticism of the game. Even if you don’t have a suggestion on how to fix something, merely pointing it out might spur the conversation that does come up with the solution. Even if you don’t have something technical to discuss, you still have an opinion of the game. That is your opinion, and you have the full right to post it here. Personally, and not speaking as a mod here, I was disappointed, disgusted, and appalled at the condition of the game upon release. That’s just my opinion, and it’s not wrong. Some may disagree with that, and civil discussion over those differences of opinion is something we, the moderators, encourage. But what we don’t encourage is people who intentionally bicker, attack and troll those with different opinions than theirs. The moderators really don’t care what your position on an issue is, but we won’t stand for people attacking others because they’re different. This has already been applied in a number of instances, regardless of the point of view of the members involved And we will absolutely not tolerate any flamebaiting or trolling. Posting something to purely cause an argument is not something we do here. It’s immature and should be left in the realms of 4chan and Reddit. Now I know it sounds like I’m laying down the law here (even though it’s already posted under our guidelines), and I might be a little bit, that’s not the type of post @LittleBitMore intended this thread to be. We want you to know you should not have to worry about posting your opinion here on the forums. Some discussion might occur, as reasonable minds can differ, but also, a reasonable mind can change their opinion on something.
  15. You made it farther than I could. Some higher end houses in the south are built with ‘armored’ walls to guard against flying lumber / trees / dolphins.
  16. Please, do not make make posts purely to start an argument and troll the rest of the community. If you see a post that is obviously trolling, do not respond. Use the report button. A number of posts have been removed.
  17. There’s a problem with defining active. There are still people who signed up back when the forum started that still lurk, and post one in a great while. Van has been around a long time, having joined only a few months before me. I don’t know if they’re the oldest active member though. But wait you say, your join date says almost a year after Van?! Ahh young kerbalnaut! You must not have been around for the great KSP forum hiccup of 2013 that erased a large number of accounts that had signed up with the past few months. The data could not be restored and we had to re-sign up again, bumping our signup date up a few months. So the truth is, like any archeological and historical research, the truth can be a little fuzzy, and answering your question specifically is difficult.
  18. Seeing as the answer was posted a few times, this thread will surely lead to pointless bickering again, it shall be locked.
