I made a little video to show you how when plotting a satellite mission intercept, the mission target orbit line seen as red here fades to abscurity at precisely the wrong moment, ie when you zoom in close to make a fine adjustment the line vanishes from view. The line needs to remain visible, and btw this is true of all orbit lines as far as I can see and they should never fade. How are you supposed to embed videos here these days?

Yes you are right, I didnt notice that. In fact it is the only condition which has completed at the space center. But that corresponds to the screeny in the OP which shows no green tick for the wheels condition and green ticks for all the other conditions which are showing incomplete at the space center as though the mission condition passes were somehow inverted between the two readouts and still the mission has not completed. So this looks like a bug in the mission conditions.

Well I know it was my own fault for A. choosing no revert hard mode in the first place and B. not putting an extra pair of launch stabilisers on the ship and C. not transferring the craft file to a sandbox game and trying it out there before launching. I still miss my Kerbals though. *sniff* Now I have the shame of Kerbal blood on my hands and also need to train some more. But its the fact you can fail which makes the success feel like more of a victory so I still think no revert is a good game mode. Just wish I could tell which craft would fail structurally on the launchpad since the VAB is deceptively physics free!

I lost 4 science lvl 2 kerbals and 300,000 funds on the launchpad from a ship collapse... RIP... (hard mode, they are not coming back).

Nefrums Expeditionary Astrokerbal Distinction (Laythe, Bop, Pol), Advanced Pilot Precision Award with SSTL. ... on completing the K-Prize mission successfully. Welcome to the K-Prize party guest list aka the roll of honour. Edax, the reason Furiosa VI was a gatecrasher was that "Valkyria III's engine is engaged"during the ascent, since Valkyria III is payload it breaks proviso A to rule 1 and is therefore an official gatecrasher! I hope you enjoy the notoriety. Tynrael, thanks for your video. Much as I admire the innovative launch and landing procedures used with Barebones Mk I space drone, it is hard to ignore the fact that it broke the K-Prize rules because lift off was not horizontal since it began with 45° descent ! So I hope you will settle for a gatecrashers link which I am sure the interesting mission report deserves... p.s. if you altered the launch angle so it flew horizontally at the launch it would count, fyi. SuicidalInsanity, what a magnificent craft, unfortunately your doubts about FAR are applicable to the K-Prize because rule#3 was invented in the interests of fairness for the competitive aspect of the challenge and so that like can be compared with like otherwise. So sorry but I hope you dont mind too much that the link to your mission report has been added to the gatecrasher listing, with a miniscule quip and a subtle hint thrown in at no extra charge.

Exploding Solar Panels
boolybooly replied to Francois424's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
I have just had an example of the basic solar panel exploding repeatable with octohedral struts when timewarped 4x in atmosphere. Its only the Octohedral strut, the same configuration stuck to an octo command unit for example doesnt explode. You just need to stick 4 say on an octohedral strut atop an octo command pod launch and [alt] + [.>] key to timewarp and boom. Happens every time. -
A reusable lifter section somehow got stuck suspended 110km above kerbin at zero orbital velocity. It was shaking and could not go to warp or return to space center. The shaking started after debris from the fairing got jammed in between the parts of the rocket, so I detached the payload, got it into orbit and switched back to the lift section and the debris had vanished but now the lift section will not let me switch away again because it is "moving over terrain" and yet shows orbital speed 0.0 and surface speed of 207.9m/s. The ship shows landed. Anyone got a clue what is going on, how to fix? This is 50k worth of ship in a 50% hard career game . - - - Updated - - - OK found my own answer, I Alt F4d, replayed getting the payload to orbit and then from the payload went back to the tracking station and from there was able to recover the stuck lifter section because its landed status allowed that in the tracking station whereas it would not recover when focussed on the ship. Was so far away though it was only worth 38k but better than nothing!

I found that a complex part (solar array extension) became undockable when detached. It had no control pod but did have 2 jr docking ports matching the docking vehicle and a fully charged battery but no active solar panels and it failed to engage when approached even after game reload. You could switch to the part and it showed a full battery. Is this as intended ? It means you cannot detach parts and go get them later.

I took a mission to recover a Kerbal and their scrap and it turns out the "scrap" was a %&£~#@!* science lab @ 3.5 tonnes so I got the Kerbal back safely but because I had come prepared for a capsule the science lab was 3x too heavy and the craft toppled in the water landing and the act of toppling destroyed the science lab, at which point I didn't get the reward for rescuing the pilot but I did get mission fail for breaking the lab. The mission archive shows "recover Jauna Kerman on kerbin" as "incomplete" when this is not true and she landed safely and I got notification than she joined my astronauts. So mission fail conditions are broken. The recover "scrap" element showed "failed" which is correct. So failing the scrap recovery broke the recognition of the other mission element. So the condition logic is wrong somewhere. Also I would like to comment that the mission conditions should warn us about larger objects. The tracking station showed simply that it was a Size A "smallest" object. I don't think a Science lab is the same size as a capsule, shouldn't there be something to indicate the weight or at least the size?

Kagame can you state for the record that you achieved orbit? None of your screens or their text indicates an orbit and although you appear to be following the K-Prize rules in so far as the report goes, it would be presumptious of me to assume you had achieved orbit without a clear indication. I am sorry if that seems pedantic but it needs to be stated in writing or by image, psychic adjudication is notoriously unreliable Congratulations to... rudi1291 Advanced Pilot Precision Award 1st Class with Tourist Bus. juzeris Expeditionary Astrokerbal Distinction (Laythe), Advanced Pilot Precision Award with Krau 6. g00bd0g Utilitarial Commendation (51t), Advanced Pilot Precision Award with MK3 SSTO Cargo 1 Bay. Thanks very much for your mission reports all and welcome to the K-Prize party guest list. See you at the Dog and Booster. bb-pio can you confirm the second video occurred after reaching a full orbit ? As the video shows PE at the 30km mark at the start so it would be assuming too much to award the K-Prize without your word on the matter. spikes2020, sorry your second mission doesn't count since it appeared to end on Laythe not Kerbin which is unfortunately the wrong planet. If you can get back to Kerbin then it would count, doesn't have to be KSC. First one looks fine. NikkyD you can land whichever way you prefer for the K-Prize as long as the craft is in one piece, only the take off has to be horizontal. netbumbler, I allocated your pun for a ship name. Hope that is OK. Thanks all

Its worth remarking that the K-Prize has become more of a challenge with the new physics so its gratifying to see these effective spaceplanes in action. I am certainly taking a few pointers myself and I am sure that other KSP players will likewise find these designs instructive. Thanks again and welcome to the K-Prize party guest list aka the roll of honour.

I think it may be something to do with having a sister but I am sure Val deliberately got Jeb into trouble by telling him it was his turn in the command pod when I distinctly told both of them to stay out so I could rescue Kany from orbit! Unless it was Jeb who lied about Valentina to get her into trouble and himself off the hook. Hard to tell who the good guys are sometimes.

Merandix Utilitarial Commendation (10.7t), Advanced Pilot Precision Award 1st Class with Sleipnir. Sean Mirrsen Utilitarial Commendation, Advanced Pilot Precision Award with Stratoghoul Mk2. For successfully completing the K-Prize mission. Thankyou for your mission reports and welcome to the guest list for the v1.0 K-Prize party. There seems to have been a mix up with the bouncers Sean Mirrsen and for some reason your name kept cropping up on the gatecrashers list! If you want it removed then you are entitled so please say so else I will let the links and revised quips stay (see bottom of gatecrasher list). There is no doubt V1.0 is hard, but then again we do these things because they are hard, to coin a phrase, which brings me to the issue of fuel drilling in v1.0. I would be happy to hear all arguments offered but IMHO while refuelling is a legitimate practice and a remarkable feat especially in a SSTO, the purpose of the K-Prize is to test the limits of the reusable spaceplane in KSP. From that perspective drilling is like fuel transfer. So while it is perfectly legitimate to drill and refine fuel and then deposit it say in a fuel store or bring it back to Kerbin for a Utilitarial Commendation or Distinction depending on source, it would not be within the spirit of the rules to use mined fuel to drive the craft. So yes moving or bringing mined fuel or ore back is a new aspect of the Utilitarial awards and the challenge is to do it with the launch fuel, I hope that makes sense and is agreeable. Speak your mind.

I have been playing career in hard mode and now have over 20 Kerbals because the rescue missions keep popping up and I cant leave a Kerbal to die cold and lonely in space, it just wouldnt be right! So I am playing the latest steam version started as 1.0.0 but read 1.0.1 was supposed to tone down the rescues. My question is will I need to restart a new career to feel the effect of that tweak, or is this how it is with the tweak? Because frankly its getting a bit ridiculous ! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

I am noticing issues with fuel draw in 1.0.2 In order to get anything into orbit I have to manually control fuel draw to take from the bottom tanks first. It would be nice if there was some way to specify fuel draw order when building. Another issue is that with a rocket plane I built for in atmo flights, the aero engines took from all the tanks available but the rocket engine could only take from the tanks inline with it (this is without pipes) and the upshot was the rocket was unable to complete the burn because it ran out of liquid fuel before it ran out of oxidiser as the liquid fuel had been pilfered by the aero engines. So now I have to micro that as well and it strikes me that this is an edge case of trying to make planes more flyable. Maybe if aero engines can get fuel from other tanks to assist balance the rocket engines might be better off doing the same. But really what we need is a system which allows us to decide which engines draw what fuel from which sources in what order. I guess that is asking a lot but I thought it was a good way to bring up these observations and start a discussion.

Annoyances in KSP 1.0
boolybooly replied to Acru's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
Crew assignments have been a bit tricky for a while so I guess it is on the to do list but not done. In particular crew are not saving with the craft. If I assign crew it would be good if this was remembered and repeated unless crew is unavailable. In particular when I make a rescue ship with sat pod and remove crew from the Mk1 Command I want them to stay removed !
