BROKEN [0.90] TextureReplacer 2.1.2 (20.12.2014)
KerbMav replied to shaw's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Just do not add anything to the cfg file that would change the heads. -
I would like to congratulate / curse the KSP development team for....

A plane rotates around its center of mass. If the rear gear is behind the center of mass the plane cannot raise its nose (on the ground/runway). Tricky part is to get the rear gear close enough to the center of mass for the plane being able to pitch up - but not to close for it to tilt backwards and sit with its tail on the runway. Also the control surfaces for pitch have to be built quite a distance from the CoM for them to have enough leverage. But even then - I have to agree - some designs just seem to be glued to the ground. -
Dont get me wrong, I know this wont be stock for quite a while, but I am wondering how giving them individual features/textures in the animations etc. - and maybe creating textures for Texture Replacer (by Squad or modders afterwards) - should be done: - official appearance done by Squad - another creative contest putting user creations to a community vote - ... ?

I liked the movie, in spite of its "chosen boy" plot similar to Harry and Percy. Although years of Outer Limits, Star Trek and various other media made the big plot behind the story somewhat predictable for me. I figured out the plot of The Village equally fast. (But Sixth Sense still hit me in the face!) --- Inertial Dampening is not meant to counteract movement forced upon the vessel from outside, but to dampen inertial effects of any movement of the vessel on the crew inside it. It's an energy field. It surrounds us and penetrates us; it binds our bones together.

Cutting to the chase: In Squad's animation videos some Kerbals already have distinguishing features (a mustache, glasses, light hair etc.), but these are Gene and Wernher, I do not think JeBiBo have been featured (at least not recognizably) in any of the animations yet. Although Kerbals are not yet individually created/customized in the stock game, should Harvester, danRosas and Rogelio sit together and create an "official" look for Jeb, Bill and Bob? I think it would be awesome/brilliant/splendid/wicked/cool for them to make official head textures for the Texture Replacer mod (until Kerbal individualization is implemented).

I think wings built at an angle also give better horizontal speed, as the pilot does not have to raise the nose as high to get lift, especially in thinner atmosphere - right or wrong? -
Thank you, for reminding me of this feature.

Do you design your space stations before you construct them?
KerbMav replied to Blind Dead McJones's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I pre-build my space stations and interplanetary ships in the VAB. While I try to launch my - as of now not very big - interplanetary ships inside large fairings and/or large but slow lifters, my station prototypes are split into managable but preferably few modules. That way I can tweak my part count and make sure the modules fit. -
"Launch and you may die. Go home and you will live. And dying in your bed many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance, to come back here as young men and tell these boosters that they may take your lives but they will never take your spirit!" Every kerbal dies but not every kerbal flies.

Because of which female lead?

Yes. So you would have to activate display of CoM to find the sweet spot. (Two pop-culture references in one sentence, my work is done.)

I am the stepson of Cpt Picard so to speak. I grew up with TNG on its first TV run in Germany. Lots of very good stories and moral plots. Although watching the first season after you had the really good later ones ... lets say you can tell how much everything improved with time. TOS, the mother of it all, I watched some of the movies with my father before I got to see TNG, so TOS looked a bit strange at first, as I got to know the characters on a cinema budget. But it has good stories and if you cannot stand 60s FX try the remastered edition for CGI space scenes. DS9 is - after surviving the first politically saturated Bajor plot - showing more of the military side of Starfleet. We had wars and conflicts in every other series, too. But DS9 took it up several levels! VOY - well, they killed the menace here - and its menace too - namely the Borg and Species 8472 ... one little ship just could beat them all. Some stories are really good, it has the same tough start as DS9 though. ENT had a good premise, but they deviated a bit much - not on a JJ level, but still - from canon, and if there is something that Star Trek fans love, it is their canon! To sum it up, all got their fair share of good stories and likable characters. I just tend to prefer TNG and DS9 for their "close to earth" setting and more believable tech level. "Because I can live with it." Plus Section 31 of course.

The download comes with tech tree integration, there has to be a problem with your gamedata. Either you installed the mod wrong (doubt it, but can happen) or you are using a mod that changes the tech tree?

Today I tried to learn more about planes in KSP (con FAR), but it did not go very well. I guess I will soon take a break from this (again) and carry on building space ships. In other news: Some mod update killed my design stages of a new interplanetary ship - yay.

I built some ordinary jet planes to further my knowledge in this field - was not very succesful unfortunately. If someone wants to take a look and has any advice, here are the craftsfiles. Edit: But! My spaceplane seems to still work at least!
-
Now get someone to integrate your idea into FAR and SCANsat for variable weather effects!

BROKEN [0.90] TextureReplacer 2.1.2 (20.12.2014)

Ahm ... publish ... publish now? -
I cannot remember: How much structural stability do jettisonable fairings used to form an interstage hull (and also real interstage fairings) add to craft? If any, how can this be increased?

I have nothing to add without starting a flame war, so I just quote for truth. Also I wonder if the reason for the majority of the votes going to the answer "asteroid" from users in this very forum ... Although it is the most likely of the three suggested answer. Other possible option: Self-annihilation by nuclear winter or radical global warming - though one question remains: Would either event kill everyone everywhere or are their places on earth that might stay inhabitable?

History became legend. Legend became myth. And some things that should not have been forgotten were lost.
