  1. @Majorjim Would you mind explaining us how to do it? I would love to use it for my interplanetary craft. I always have to come up with an offset de-coupler because losing the fairings of nuclear engines when clipped results in a massive explosion :-/ For my Apollo spacecraft i don't really mind the fairing to be honest.. @scarecrow http://lmgtfy.com/?q=No+stock+fairings+for+engine
  2. @Benzman; Maybe a blue double decoupler could work but you would still have to knock the shroud out of the way. I've never found a good solution for it. Maybe two tiny back to back red ones: decouple from the LEM turn around decouple the shroud dock like a boss without figgiting about inside the craft
  3. It sounds better in a 'Scott Manley' voice
  4. I normally un-dock manually with the docking port, turn the ship around, decouple the shroud, dock with the LEM. Profit!
  5. Thanks, not sure how to fix it though. 'RMB > save as' is a workaround which works for now.
  6. Introduction Always wanted to fly the Apollo 15 (or 16 and 17, just land somewhere else) mission and feel like those three astronauts hardly anyone remembers (Scott, Worden and Erwin) but can't be bothered to throw a rocket together? This is your chance! Throw this Mighty Saturn on the launch pad and spacebar your way through, though action groups are set up as well. (Example mission and moar! images can be found here) Please refer to the example mission for more pictures. How to fly Since this is about the maximum 5 Rockomax ''Mainsail'' engines can lift, the first 10 seconds after launch can be a bit tricky. My advise is keep the nosecone pointed to the stars and you will be alright. If all else fails there is always backspace (followed by 0 and 9). Start your gravity turn at 7.500m (to 70 degrees) at 15.000 (to 45 degrees) until your periapsis is 50.000m, then start following the direction marker until you have reached your preferred orbital height, 85.000x85.000 works well for me. Getting the ALSEP from under the LEM can be a hassle. Just tilt the Lem on to two legs and roll the Science stuff away from the LEM. (don't forget to deploy the solar panels (for obvious reasons), and don't forget to bring the science back into the LEM and later on back to the Service Module.) Which buttons do I press again? bckspc. abort 0. launch escape tower and fairings (make sure you spin up the craft a bit) 1. pre launch 4. open the rover cover step 1 5. deploy rover step 2 6. deploy ALSEP and other scientific stuff 9. deploy chute Or just spacebar your way through the launch sequence, it is all nicely set up. How to get it DOWNLOAD (right mouse button > save as) Have Fun! WooDzor
  7. The Mighty Saturn on the launch pad. 3...2...1... LAUNCH! KSC looks small from here. Separation from the first stage completed The Kerbals are on their way to the Mun, and lose the fairings and launch escape system (which will crash into the mun) The service module and LEM dock nicely, followed by a slight change in direction to make sure the whole mission doesn't end up 6 feet under regilite Rumple, Mackie and Poes Kerbal have arrived at the Mun. R & M move from the comfort of the Service module to the somewhat Spartan LEM Time to land! Let's see whether we can get this rover out this time. Last couple of missions the thing got stuck but the redesign seems to have worked. While we're here, we might as well do some science WOOOOOOOOOOHHHAAA! Poes Kerman back in orbit in the Service Module decides it's time to release the Mun Science Satellite (MSS) Hoopla! Mission accomplished 'Let's GTHO!' 'Hellow Poes!' No Kesler Syndrome on the Mun. The Kerbals are on their way back to Kerbin 'Bye Mun' 'Hellow Kerbin!' 'Mackie, did you bring the Marsh mellows?' 'It looks a lot bigger when you're there' Hope you guys enjoyed. Big thanks to Mulbin for getting me interested in designing decent looking crafts! It still needs some minor changes but I'll upload it to Craft Exchange later today
  8. ^^ That Mun Lander is awesome, it makes that ugly two man Mun lander can look good!
  9. Why? Never finished my little project, but managed to easily get a sketch-up model into unity..
  10. Any chance of a screenshot of a Kerbal inside that cargo bay? ..or even better flying a tiny plane inside there Which makes me wonder, has anybody build a vomit-comet for 0 gravity flights?
  11. You make me feel so wasteful:( I just can't wrap my mind around going to Duna with a small rocket like that :-/
  12. I'd be happy with flight info and maybe some stage and abort buttons on my phone and just for laughs control planes by moving it around. Simple Rockets is fun on the toilet for a week.
  13. There you go.. Clipping engines into structural parts is a bit tricky. That's why it has 12 sepatrons before the next engine starts.. also I might need a couple of reaction wheels to keep it straight..It starts a bit slow, but that's because I max-ed it out on fuel..
  14. Fixed mine too! Get's me to the Mun and back with some fuel to spare. A while back I thought my Saturn IB was big
  15. So GregroxMun was complaining that my Saturn V wasn't big enough for his Apollo Redirect Mission. So I fixed it. Only needs some small work on the fairings now..
  16. Bit pushy.. aren't we? It's not my job eh, it's a game and supposed to be fun..
  17. preferably.. the width of the lower stage of the Saturn V should be wider than the Saturn IB too. Problem is I wanted my Saturn V to be around 500 parts instead of the 800 I had before. So shapewise I am quite happy with it.. as for the scale..
  18. it would be awesome if the facial expression was linked to Jebs
  19. From left to right: Titan II, Saturn V (WIP), Saturn I and the Atlas
  20. working on the new Saturn V rocket From left to right: Titan II, Saturn V, Saturn I and the Atlas I am getting there
  21. Here's my starting entry. DOWNLOAD I did change the engine configuration a few weeks ago to make it moaaar good!
  22. I don't think I landed much more than 2 km East from you!
