Why is this still alive? I think at this point, a few things are obvious: 1. There is a MOD that does this ALREADY!!! so why is squad wasting time <now, or later> pandering to a small portion of the population, when again, there is a MOD that does this? 2. No, really, WHY is it Squad is going to at some point pander to a small portion of the player base and make stock what a MOD already does and yet, something that has REAL UTILITY like MechJeb is never up for Stock Candidacy, when it has a much LARGER base of folks who are screaming for it to be stock? 3. It is CLEAR that part counts will be a SERIOUS issue, it is CLEAR some people run subpar machines that barely handle 100 part ships and yet, get 2 people with moderate crafts and you can blow past 200 parts in a hurry, it is CLEAR mods <part mods> will be an issue, say you run BD, I dont. I run NovaPunch, you dont. Will we be able to see each other or will we crash the system? It is NOT REMOTELY possible to plan for and prevent every contingency, issue, or troll. 4. Expanding on 3. What is to stop a player from making a ship and launching 300+ decouplers, launching into an orbit, punching the decouplers into space and repeating this until the sky is a minefield similar to the one seen in either WALL-E or Cowboy Bebop? Whats to stop a player from going into a server and wrecking everything and staying around long enough for the AUTO save to happen, and rewriting the Quick Saves? Seriously, how do you stop this? Answer? IT CANT BE. Now, I FULLY expect people to come at me saying things like well, servers can be set for so and so and blah blah blah so that WONT happen. Sorry, it can happen no matter how well prepared you are. Look, its simple. DMP takes care of this. Also, and just as importantly, this game has issues, serious issues. Some are local to the games code, some are on Unity, and until this game is STABLE, yes, its NOT stable. Better, perhaps, but, still bad, and until its not, multiplayer needs to remain a far far 31st century distant thing. And the other things are dealt with, like Gas Planet 2, or heck, CONSOLE stability is now a thing too, and yet people STILL want multiplayer added.. come on folks, its not remotely acceptable for it to be now, or even 3 years from now a thing. 6 to 10 years down the road, perhaps.- 367 replies

@ZooNamedGames Once the code begins its run, its AUTOMATICALLY doing things with little user interfacing or interference. Thus is what an autopilot is. Its a set of code that once the desired behaviors are PROGRAMMED in, set to engage its doing its job. We can thus infer mission control is sending programs to mechjeb. As to it being informationaly inferior I disagree completely. It has enough custom options to give information overload. Ive seen das use ker enough to know for a swear on a bible before a judge in court fact that MJ can when in the correct configuration delivery 99.9999999% of what ker can. So, given this, MJ is STILL superior. If for what ever reason you, our OP or anyone else enjoys the same flight profile hundreds of times, baby sitting long burns or maneuver nodes or any other tedium have at it. I for one enjoy being able to tell my ship go to X orbit, hitting engage autopilot then walking off to tend to irl as my vessel does its thing. Or telling it to get to 15 meters of a target and hold while I deal with something else like a diff launch. Or telling it to dock while i watch from the station as it comes in.

@ZooNamedGames Ker is inferior to the clearly superior MechJeb. If autopilot is cheating then NASA, ESA, JAXA, ROSCOSMOS and every military and civilian aviation industry on the PLANET is cheating. MJ provides what he asked for with the addition of providing a tool ker lacks. Tedium removal via autopilot.

Truth be told KIS/KAS, Mechjeb procedural fairings all would be ideal candidates for the game. They all add functionality the game clearly needs and sorely lacks. What's that? The game has fairings you say? No. It has a broken, poorly thought out attempt that is poorly done. It's not easy to use, lacks interstage capability and is pointed only. Sorry but the stock failings are just that. Failings. -

mechjeb is more popular than multiplayer mods, and yet they are wasting time with multiplayer when having an autopilot just makes SOO much more sense. <sigh> -

@Jatwaa You missed my point. The folks I addressed are not talking SSTOs. They are talking turn and burn air races. You make mention of BD Armory as did I. Let the mod makers handle non space aviation and mp. Squad needs focus on fixing bugs not mp. As to minecraft that's an incorrect comparison to a space game that uses physics and time warping to handle months of travel in seconds. As to negligence? I said diverting such limited manpower, such limited resources to something handled by a mod is negligent.- 367 replies

If I may be so blunt. This is NOT Kerbal Aviation Program. This IS Kerbal SPACE Program. If you want to race planes and dogfight then please play a game suited for such activities and by all means make THAT GAME multiplayer. Kerbal SPACE Program is a game where you run a, funnily enough a SPACE Program and not a military or aviation program. This not to say those who enjoy BDA are wrong, but to try to force a multiplayer farce on a game that is not DESIGNED or APPROPRIATE for such things completely detracts from and could DESTROY the game is negligent of what this game is. The fact that Squad looks like its going to pander to a tiny fraction of players to take away from fixing what is wrong with KSP when there is a functional mod that does what you guys want is almost criminal. Stop asking for Squad to divert valuable time, effort and limited resources to MP when you have a MOD that gives it to you. Now get off my lawn before I have Smithers release the bee breathing hounds.- 367 replies

@Columbia Risks? Single player content sees less dev time. Examples include the campaigns of Battlefield 3&4. They suffered so multiplayer could get working in ways they wanted so SP content was slapped together. Bugs to get KSP mp working cause major issues and nastier bugs in sp. these are but some of the risks.- 367 replies

What should things sound like?

Forgetting the fact we hear our ships in space, I agree with ya. Things need sound I like the docking sounds. Chatterer handles some sounds but stock comprehensives would be nice -
I recall mention of it being like Earths Deep Space Network or something like that. So, IF I am right, complex arrays and the like should be not necessary. That being said, IF you want to make such a network for comforts sake, then, well, thats up the each of us I suppose. Could be wrong and ya, as 5th said, Rover will need to confirm, deny or explain lol

Couldn't care less if we have em on PC. I think Microsoft and Sony mandate that games have em so the console ksp has em. If we get em can I or we toggle em back off? If yes let PC have em too.

I get that the orange suits are technically "launch/entry" suits but these are kerbals why cant the prime crew suits for EVA not be orange with RCS packs? -

My Search Fu is weak, I will admit, but, quick suggestion x2. 1. If I am doubling up, merge please. And 2. My true suggestion, with the prime crew of Jeb, Bill, Bob and Val, make EVA suits match what you see on IVA please. Being orange in IVA then suddenly White on EVA is jarring. Yes, this is an old issue since like EVA became a thing, but, holy cow guys, can we do something about this please?
