  1. @dave1904 its like i said in my post, and to be honest, i speak from hard won experience, there is nothing that is superior to seeing how YOUR craft does. Watching someone elses craft is fine and all, BUT, watching mechjeb put YOUR craft thru the paces is a far better teacher, as it illuminates where you are strong and where you are weak. No tutorial can do this, no teaching video can do this. only mechjeb acting as your teacher using what you built will. well, that and just flinging things up into space and trying to learn the hyper hard way, but, to each their own.
  2. imho i think they RUINED the MK1 cockpit. Sure, lear jets are neat and fun and all, but, I liked the old aesthetic better. But, in the spirit of compromise, why doesnt squad bring back the OLD MK1 cockpit and call it a MK0 or something and have both? Just my 2 cents ofc
  3. @Cloakedwand72 i will provide you with the best help possible. get mechjeb, have it teach you. While all the words in the world are fine, there is 0 they can do for you to show you how YOUR craft will fly in those conditions. the same can be said for watching videos. Now, the anti-mechjeb crowd will naysay what I have just said, but, ignore them. The debate on mechjeb is as old as time, and if there is one thing I have learned, it is this: there is no teacher alive that can teach you as well as experience.
  4. A beautiful ship. May all that follow in her illustrious wake be as beautiful and just as loved. May you have fair winds and following seas. @DrMarlboro
  5. Sal has an excellently scary point. Viruses. Yet another reason to avoid the steam ws
  6. Ok this mechanic has just hit me. And here is what you need to know! Item that it happened to: SP-L 1X6 Photovoltaic Panels Location of said item: OUTSIDE, Port and Starboard Sides, Below an RCS block, on a MK3 Cargo Bay CRG50 (bay doors closed, which SHOULD NOT MATTER as the panels are not encumbered by said bay) Picture of the above description? Okies here we go! As you see, the item is glowing green as my mouse is hovering on it, you see the orange text telling me the panel is stowed, whilst, yes, its "stowed" in its OWN housing, it is clearly on the OUTSIDE of my ship. I should not now, nor should I EVER need to activate my cargo doors to make a panel that is below where they OPEN to tell the game they are NOT stowed. Guys, come on, we do not need such a borked mechanic. Last time I checked, that placement is on the outside, not recessed in the slightest...
  7. i will be leaving this here. i pointed at it in my previous reply, but that was from my phone and so leaving links was not possible. but, now that I am at my comp, I again, leave this here: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/33940-what-not-to-suggest/
  8. Steam workshop has already been nixed and has been for years. Please see the old What NOT to suggest thread. I agree with squad 100% on this, as it would fragment the community.
  9. @andem its all one single piece lifted as one!
  10. One Launch Station? Okies, hows this? On the pad: beginning orbital positioning, I honestly forget what stage of getting to orbit this is, circularization perhaps, but still a single launch: <the tiny bits falling behind? explosive bolts from novapunch, which is what most of this thing was made from lol> in orbit: this was obviously a few versions ago, but, was a single launch.
  11. @Gaarst Check this out: The top is a payload that went to Eve. The line <you MAY need to zoom in to see it> that breaks up that LONG fairing is where the payload detatches with its OWN fairing and heat shield for Eve Entry. I messed up and left out a decoupler lol, but, if you look carefully the bulk of the long fairing stack stems from a interstage fairing base which has been sized for this ship via its tweakable settings.
  12. IMHO they need to go ahead and scrap the "fairings" they have now and just make procedural fairings stock. PF is easier, more intuitive, friendlier and duplicatable every single time you need to adjust the payload. Stock is NONE OF THESE THINGS.
  13. A new mission, just arrived at Doxie Station. An unmanned test flight of a new class of shuttle I call the Gantry Class. Seen here, just hours after the node its docked to arrived. On the station, Valentina will shortly begin a computerized checkout of the Gantry Class shuttle from her science lab, then once those checks are complete, she will head on down and assess the shuttle from within. It has no cargo on this flight. Also, fuel is needed, so a fuel drone will be sent aloft to dock with the station and refuel the shuttle so the second half of testing, departure, deorbit and landing tests can be conducted, remotely of course.
  14. @regex ok, i see what you did there. <rolls eyes> Now, if all you got from my post about an instant gratification climate being a problem and the scale of the kerbin system, I cannot help you as you went past my point. I still will stand by my statement of, I will not comment on the size of the kerbin system because that was not MY call. I am not now, nor have I been a designer OR affiliated with Squad beyond being a customer via steam. NOW, seeing as my point was missed, let me elucidate it. People now, here in 2016 live life at a pace that was unheard of even 35 years ago when things were slower. 35 years before that the pace of life was even slower. Look around you in public, how many people have their faces buried in their phones reading a text or some news story? How many of them are conducting business calls? People today, especially children who were born around the millennium cannot or will not sit down and play a game that takes you more than a handful of hours to beat? Not many I would wager. This is why games like Call of Duty or Battlefield 4 have such short single player campaigns. It is why games like Final Fantasy <either single player or say Final Fantasy XIV A Real Reborn> are populated by older gamers. We have the patience needed to see rewards that mean something. Heck, just recently <last month or so> a new patch was introduced that FORCES you to grind for an extremely long time to get just the first STAGE of the new relic weapon done, and then, its only for ONE SINGLE CLASS, want more? Do it again and again. This, in the instant gratification world we seem to live in is heresy, as it takes more than 10 minutes. It is the behavior of people who cannot slow down to enjoy the journey that I am calling out. They are the issue, not the scale of the Kerbin system here in KSP. Do I like a small system? Yes, but not because I am impatient, but because for me, knowing the limitations of the game being 32 bit make for me, adding more than a handful of mods a bad idea. I work with what I have. Now, as has been said before by others, that "article" was poorly done, most likely in the name of click baiting traffic. But, that in and of itself shows how impatient people are, to do the absolute least in an attempt for max gain. Now, if all you can do is try to make mock of what I am talking about, that is on you, and for that, I feel sorry for you. I do like a good conversation, but, that conversation must mean something, not just be a jousting match of no merit, which I consider making mock to be of absolutely no merit. I want to also point out that, I am not calling you or any other KSP player impatient, not in the slightest. There are after all mods that fix the scale of this game, and more power to those who can use them, choose to use them and ultimately enjoy them. What I AM saying is: impatient people who want instant gratification and have no patience to enjoy the journey to what ever reward they are after are the problem. As for those who think this game is mundane? Well thats their problem now isnt it?
  15. just a quick hop to my new station. dropped off a new docking node and a single crew woman. the cargo ship, valentina and the station all pictured.
  16. I sent a new docking node up to my station as well as its first crew woman, Valentina. Her ship with Jeb, Bill and Bob on board is seen to the lower left, Val is on EVA near the 8 or 9 o'clock spot with the station above her, Doxie Station. Mission was quick and simple taking only "2" hours and change from launch to landing.
  17. @regex I have no comment as that was/is a design choice by Squad. For mor information on just why they chose the scale they did, please make all inquiries with the appropriate person or persons at squad. i WILL however state that it is my sovereign opinion that you are making an assumption on my meaning or intent of my statement by possibly misconstruing my meaning by means intentional or accidental and it is my position to not give credence to you or the apparent assumption indicated by or hinted by your statement by a response of any kind, directly stated by me or implied by any means real or fictitious. This is thusly then by all intents is a non reply directly or alleged and thusly cannot be held to have any meaning real or implied. Thusly, I don't get what you mean.
  18. Its been said already but i will say it again. Its this climate of instant gratification and the utter refusal to use even an ounce of patience that is messing things up. Its the ones who cant stand to make the journey who call things that dont pander to them mundane. I could rant on but i wont.
  19. I took a page from NASA on this and went a ways further. I RP that everything I launch has explosives on it. NASA does this too and I'm certain other agencies as well, they have explosives on rockets for safety reasons, which is the page I took. Where I went was, once a mission has ended, mission control sends a command to activate said explosives. This is how I justify the use of terminate x in tracking center. Just mah two cents lol.
  20. Space above and beyonds Saratoga may not be irl feasible even in a century but she's pretty!
  21. I dont have mm believe it or not. I use mechjeb, proc fairings and novapunch. But ive always believed that i or anyone not on the dev team should need to monkey with code to fix something like this
  22. oddly i did not experience the issue yesterday, and the only thing that changed was this time my phone was almost dead with like 23% power remaining
  23. quick and easy if you are comfy with coding, for those of us who are not, we are still locked in the stocks.
  24. i give you the USS Saratoga SCVN 2812 from Space Above and Beyond:
  25. while i dont use this mod, i agree its very beautiful. i hope squad can do an equally fine job. BUT, they really should just make this stock, i think it would save dev cycle time, i think.
