  1. It seems to depend on what the aliens are after. Loki and Clu wanted to conquer and rule humanity, while the WotW and Independence Day aliens wanted to get us out of the way without demolishing their prize. (Still, biological or chemical weapons would be quicker...)
  2. Whenever a vehicle explodes in a ball of flame (no debris, just a fireball) when it gets hit by gunfire. Not even exploding rounds, just a few shots from an ordinary gun that somehow blows the whole thing up, even if it doesn't hit anywhere near a gas tank.
  3. That initial burst of flame at T-2 always stops my heart before I remember that it's normal.
  4. Thin enough to *attempt* it. Didn't really work out in the end.
  5. Thank you! Spin-stabilization didn't work - I guess the missiles don't like the cramped conditions of the torpedo bay - but auto-strutting solved the problem completely. And I shaved 16 parts off in the process - awesome! Thank you both for all your help!
  6. That turned out to be the problem, thank you! I'll give spin-stabilization a try. Maybe that'll help balance it out. Or even simply connecting the struts from the hull to the missiles instead of the other way around. Hmm... tests. How do I use the "autostrut feature"? I wasn't aware there was such a thing.
  7. I've been playing around with warships recently (sacrilegious, I know) and I'm having trouble getting my missiles to fire straight. Every salvo I fire goes off course right out of the gate, and I have no idea what's causing it. It happens both in space and atmosphere. ^ This is the launcher. As you can see, it's completely symmetrical inside and the missiles are set to fire in pairs so the recoil will push the ship backwards instead of to the side. Now, here's two salvos (two missiles each) fired in space: As you can see, the first veers to the right and the second to the left. Each salvo alternates between left and right and I can't figure out why. Is there something I'm missing?
  8. SpaceX is due to return to flight this month, aren't they? Not a CRS mission, but once they have a working booster again it shouldn't be long.
  9. But who's gonna build the robots!?
  10. There was a mod I saw a while ago that made fires a threat to spacecraft. That is, parts could catch fire upon taking damage, and the player had to activate the fire suppression system to prevent it from spreading. If they didn't catch it in time, it would spread to other parts, gradually overheating them. I want to find this mod, but I can't remember the name. Can someone help?
  11. http://www.space.com/34835-alpha-centauri-new-star-names.html I dunno about you guys, but I like the old name better than "Rigel Kentaurus".
  12. This one is very minor, but dammit, I hate it when astronauts are depicted wearing white or red EVA suits on Mars. I know, the Buzz Light-year look is kind of dorky, but realistically anybody walking around in a red/beige environment is gonna want to be wearing green so they stand out.
  13. They finally figured it out, apparently!
  14. Their homeworld was a brutal death world, as I recall. Presumably the rapid breeding was a way to keep the population up in the face of so many hostile predators.
  15. Well, I suspect the colonists would already know what to expect. They're there to build a colony, with all the danger and hard work that entails.
  16. Works for me as well. For the next update, it would be awesome if explosions could somehow generate light as well. No idea if that's possible, though. Just an idea. Thanks for this great mod!
  17. There was a proposal for this in the early 2000s, the Mars Gravity Biosatellite.
