totm june 2018 Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread

I finally decided to buckle down and finish that sleek SSTO I'd made when 0.25 first came out. Uses a traditional air-hogger type flight plan, and has these AGs: 1-Jet 2-LV-N DL: https://www.dropbox.com/s/g2zedekkuhpc0wi/MU%20Kitt3h-Class%20SSTO.craft?dl=0 -
SSTOs! Post your pictures here~

Finally finished me sleek arrowhead-shaped 2-man SSTO, which I've (somewhat annoyingly) named after myself: Uses a traditional air-hogger type flight plan, and has these AGs: 1-Jet 2-LV-N DL: https://www.dropbox.com/s/g2zedekkuhpc0wi/MU%20Kitt3h-Class%20SSTO.craft?dl=0 -
Sadly, no. It's a warship made from stock parts obliterating an enemy vessel. However, IF a stock Orion (nuclear pulse detonations, if I'm understanding your question correctly) would be easily feasible, I'd definitely give it a try.

X-37B inspired spaceplane, launched on top of a rocket. However, I keep having issues when attempting to land (mainly in lack of glide control, and the fact that it drops like a rock at low alt.) If I can fix that issue, it might turn out as a great mini-shuttle (with a cargo bay to boot!) -
Must of hit that ship's reactor... Also, this: (^NOVA MUCH? ^)
-
Ya'll know... this is why most of my newer ships (or upgraded models) have tons of RCS and oftentimes a backup ion drive.
-
That last (3rd) ship seems oddly familiar... I ran into an abandoned hulk of similar design in DMP once, and I had to deorbit it to help in a orbital cleanup Op. Also, I'm not gone from KSP, just taking my time working on new craft... and getting busy with IRL stuff more and more so.
-
Dear lord... that's big. Awesome ship Redshift!
-
No... the MU's HKA aligned. Where'd you hear that?
-
Hmm? So... I'll have a couple new ships/craft done soon, once IRL stuff stops getting in the way.

[Showcase] Showoff Your Rep-Worthy Crafts

Download? Jeez man, these look amazing. Great job! -
After seeing the videos of early BF4 "Final Stand" gameplay... I'm temped to try and make a stock hover-tank. Perhaps using a basic jet w/ thrust limiter on, and some strong RCS thrusters?
-
Go to the pod/probe core "in charge", and right-click on it, then click "rename", then reclassify it as a ship.
-
Yeah, I think mortimer wins this round. "Wake up, Mr. Kerman... Wake up, and smell the ashes."
-
You can HyperEdit your ships into orbit around the planet/moon where the battle takes place, but after the battle starts, everything's full manual.
-
The "Cubic" looks great, but I'd recommend adding some small protective bits that block missiles from hitting the engines in the back.
-
Dear lord, that's big... I wonder what might be able to combat it... Also, it should be called something... unique. Poseidon, perhaps?
-
I'll check the struts, and I am using the blue stack separators instead of regular 1.25 meter decouplers. In any case, if the missiles keep bugging out I can always swap them for guided LFO-fueled ones. EDIT: Also rotation shouldn't be an issue, since the ship's really sturdy and strong, and the main hull ahs around 8 ASAS (2.5 meter gyros) units inside it, with large RTG-and-battery-based "reactors" powering them.
-
The 1.25 meter ones, I think it's due to the way the backblast from the SRB thrust works in 0.25, but I'll slightly alter the ship's "muzzle" anyways, to try and fix the problem.
-
*Hears "dreadnought"* Well, that'd be IF I could fix the missiles in the main launch bay from flipping out...

Meet the MU's all-new replacement for it's classic SX-1 Recon Corvette, the SX-12 Corvette! This fast, mid-ranged vessel is designed to carry out a large number of missions, and its hull is an all-new design meant to help it withstand heavy weapons fire more reliably. Imgur Album: Crew: 1 Pilot, 1 Distributed AI (Probe core embedded in the ship's hull.) Propulsion: Quad LV-N (Split into twin 2-engine nacelles.) Armament: Twin 1.25 m Shredder Cannons, 3 GPI missiles, 4 "NovaFist" guided missiles. Partcount: 570 parts Mass: 90.66 mT //ACTION GROUPS:// 1-LVNs 2-Fires SRB Shredder 3-Fires SRB Shredder 4-Fires 2 GPI Missiles DL: https://www.dropbox.com/s/rozyc9j3yuwyk1k/MU%20SX-12.craft?dl=0 Also, I'm PMing you about this: and some other things soon HatBat, I just need to get some things in order first.
-
I finally finished them.... The SX-11 and SX-12 are now 100% complete, and the SX-12 will be getting a release (the SX-11 still has a strange tendency to bug out when firing multiple 1.25 meter rounds at once, so that'll need some tweaking.). SX-11: SX-12: EDIT: The SX-12 has been released on my company page, and on the "Military Series Ship Submissions" thread on the Spacecraft Exchange. Phew.

Cool, Project R sounds quite interesting. Also, now the thing has gone from anti-drek to an overall ship revamp movement, which is good since 0.25's out.
-
*loud airhorn noises* Awesome, can't wait to see how this pans out. Yup. Reactive armor is great for fighter defense, but if you REALLY want to protect against heavy weapons, I recommend using up-armoring and reactive armoring. Up-armoring basically just means adding expendable hull/armor sections that stick out just a tad bit, absorbing damage from heavy weapons. (Basically, just reactive armoring "+" )

I've got no idea what happened there, but I'm not too concerned, since I know the mods are good at what they do. In any case, I mightbe ready to battle someone soon, once I finish one or two more craft.
