Why'd you move all the way to another planet's SOI? It's generally accepted that unless stated otherwise, a battle stays in and around the planet the battle is over's (in this case, Pol) SOI. Would you kindly fix your ships so that they're not on the other side of the Jool system?

Thanks! Yeah, the CoM is just below and almost in front of the fuel tanks, and I probably will modify it quite a bit before it's ready for release. -
I'm soooooo looking forward to this!

I've found smaller class-C and B asteroids in highly eccentric orbits around Kerbin.... normally post-timewarp when I'm either returning from another planet or waiting for something. However, they're so small and hard to reach that I generally try to ignore them.

I'm trying to make a Kerbalized version of the Covenant "Spirit" Dropship (flying tuning fork) from the Halo series... So far, so good. Now to test for SSTO capability... -

MU MT-24 "Condor" VTOL Cargo Dropship
ScriptKitt3h replied to ScriptKitt3h's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Thanks! I just sorta wanted to give it an aviation-themed name to use other than the ship designation (MT-24). -
Wow... Did I start a trend? In any case, how many engines are on each nacelle? (Because that sure looks quite heavy... )
-
I think I might have made an amazing troop transport...

Once again, slightly copied over from its release thread: "Meet the all-new MU MT-24! This state-of-the-art Cargo VTOL is ready to help build colonies, carry out airdrops, and support massive (doomed) land invasions! Features include a large cargo bay for rovers/passengers, quad VTOL engine nacelles (with RAPIERS for horizontal flight), and a crash-resistant cockpit section! Flight Instructions: Throttle up to a notch or two under full throttle, and then engage the VTOL jets (do not adjust the thrust limiters!). Once they spool up, the dropship will achieve vertical takeoff, and you can begin flying! To turn, you'll want to bank the craft left and right while rotating it gently to adjust the direction the VTOL engines are thrusting. To land, throttle down enough to begin falling, and use the engines to slowly come in for a safe landing. (The emergency chutes are there to help with this if need be!) Cargo should be loaded onboard via a ramp or the SPH, and should be lashed down with struts (for KAS users/loading cargo in the SPH) and affixed via the medium docking port in the front of the bay. /Action Groups:/ Abort- Opens emergency parachutes. 1- Toggles RAPIERS 2- Switches RAPIER engine mode (afterburners on/off) 3- Toggles VTOL Jets 4- //Blank// 5- Toggles Cargo Hold lighting. Gear (G)- Toggles Landing legs. Download: https://www.dropbox.com/s/k64bhax7e0phlex/MU%20MT-24.craft?dl=0 " Just like with the MT-23, feel free to arm it however you like HatBat.

MU MT-23 "Paladin" VTOL Dropship
ScriptKitt3h replied to ScriptKitt3h's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Thanks! I always to try to focus on aesthetics! I stuck a transfer stage in the cargo hold (since attempts at making it an SSTO failed miserably), and then used a booster setup to take it to orbit. Once at Laythe, I ditched the IP stage and used the engines and emergency landing chutes to land safely. -

So, in my latest attempt to make endless VTOLs, I decided to go for something that in theory could SSTO, but that in practicality would also look awesome and carry cargo. (My overall "inspiration" was the quad-engine tiltrotors from Edge of Tomorrow.) 1st Gen. Prototype: It worked, but still needed a TON of adjustments, especially since the thing kept wanting to flip over on vertical takeoffs. 2nd Gen. Prototype: This version worked (after tinkering with the thrust limiters on the jets), and was stable enough to seemingly land on the VAB pad. Nope. (The pad collapsed seconds after touchdown, even though the ship weighs only 45 tons and landed at 10 m/s) Final (Production) Model: (Shown here deployed on Laythe) I managed to get it stabilized in long-term flight, and the cargo bay works very well. (I probably need to make a mobile loading ramp for rovers to board it with. ) EDIT: Craft released here! -
Basically, each turn you may fire upon one enemy ship, but once you finish your attack (either by choice or running out of ammo on your vessel), you must move off and/or end your turn. Don't forget: ships move in order of tonnage. (A small fighter will move before a large cruiser.) EDIT: Forgot to mention, you can move any of your ships around as much as you want in each turn, but you may only attack one ship each turn, and with only one of your ships. Once that's done, your turn's over.

Don't forget the MU being allied w/ HKA!

SSTOs! Post your pictures here~

It does have a belly-mounted docking port, so an IP ring/lander addon should work. You just gave me an idea... -
I wanted to make something like that. Sadly, I'm still having issues with the SP+ parts and their inherent lift values messing up the balance of my craft, and I've still yet to perfect my partbuilt cargo bays.
-
Ooooh, that's a beaut. I've been itching to make a proper SSTO-capable tank-hauling dropship VTOL for some time, but I've still got to get used to 0.25 parts first.
-
Copied over from my thread in the Spacecraft Exchange: The MT-23 is a fast, long-range VTOL dropship, perfect for long-term missions or the occasional "security" OP. Equipped with strong SAS systems, twin ASAS-stabilized lifting jets, a massive cargo bay (able to drop payloads as well as hold them), and a fully unmanned control system, this dropship is perfect for all sorts of objectives. The craft comes as-is, and is recommended to be used for colonization missions on Laythe, or military operations there and on Kerbin. /Action Groups:/ 1-Toggle VTOL Jets. Abort-Activate emergency landing chutes (great for sudden landings, requires kerbals to replace). // 4-Toggles Cargo bay lights. 5-Opens Bay Doors. 6-Toggles XL landing gear (landing legs). DL: https://www.dropbox.com/s/o99xdgw74a4m6cv/MU%20MT-23.craft?dl=0 (BDArmory and All-stock armed versions coming soon.) c.2014 Mechani Union Shipyards So yeah, this is a sort of VTOL drone dropship for joint MU-HKA use. Feel free to arm it however you like, HatBat.

Got a sleek 2-man SSTO up and back the other day: (The nuke is clipped inside the single turbojet, and a small tank with 90 units of LiquidFuel [for use in the ascent portion of flight] is clipped inside the fuselage.)

Yup. That, or mourning his four comrades who were in the very rear of the tail section, got their Hitchhiker can knocked off, and then blew up a few hundred feet away.

You Will Not Go To Space Today - Post your fails here!

These Kerbals will not return from space today... MUHAHAHAHAHA! Curse you, buggy gravity assists! -
I crashed a colony ship on Pol. (I was going to ram into a mountain when the ship was trying to do a flyby.) The rear looks flat since a massive "tail section" of fuel and cargo was there, but got wrecked in the crash. Curse you, buggy gravity assists!
