Might I ask where the second shot hit my ship? Also, it looks like the StrangeKerb's got some serious damage, but I still see RCS and propulsion, as well as some i-beams, so it's not done for quite yet. Prepare for i-beams! En Garde!

Sadly, it looks like your stream's offline.

Perhaps the USAF is testing the X-37B as a precursor to a (slightly) larger, manned version? After all, dropping troops down to a runway nearly anywhere in the world is the ultimate "first strike capability". After all, since there was a rumored manned X-38 prototype when it was under NASA, it's not too far-fetched. Another possibility is that they're testing new classified spy-sat tech that they haven't cleared for use in standalone sats yet. The advantage of doing this is in the fact that if something goes wrong with "classified prototype space-spycam X", you could then have it brought back to analyze if need be, instead of wasting the expensive hardware by letting it drift into a disposal orbit or get burnt up in the atmosphere.

//!/BATTLE ALERT/!// Mechani Union VS. Zokesia Skunkworks Battle of Vall: Operation Frostburn /Rules:/ All combat must take place within Vall's SOI. Ships may *ATTEMPT* to land on Vall in case of emergency, but this is high-risk. The max firing range has been upped to 3km, for guided munitions. (This will help combat lag.) However, firing while in-view of the target is encouraged. Maximum fleet size is four ships. It is recommended that 1/2 be medium/light and 1/2 be heavy. Max tonnage (per ship) is 200. All kraken-tech (K-Drive, K-Bomb, etc.) is 100% BANNED. Scavenging for ammo is allowed, but counts as a turn. However, this also counts for re-fuels from a tanker (which may be brought in and then deleted if you choose to take a scavenging turn). However, no ammo-respawning is allowed. PERIOD. A ship is not dead via loss of control if it still has a working probe core onboard. Otherwise, standard death rules apply. Following the discovery of the "Vallhenge" by the MU, a small MU OFI (Office of Fleet Intelligence) task force was sent out to secure Vall's SOI while research ships were being prepped. However, the MU weren't the only group interested in the frozen Joolian moon... MU TASK FORCE DAUNTLESS: Your turn, Zekes. I'll have the post up in a minute, but the tonnage limit (per ship) will likely be 200 tons (this is to give plenty of overhead), and since I'm setting up, you may go first.

Today I tested a new battlecruiser... and refurbished an old pocket destroyer. Both are up for download on the most recent page of my company thread.
-
Aw shucks, might as well just get this done with. ///Ship Stats:/// Mass: 99 tons Parts: 652 Crew: 2 Kerbals, 3 internal probe cores (embedded in the ship's high-impact spine.) //ACTION GROUPS:// 1- LVNs 2- Fire 1st dual salvo of Shredders. 3- Fire 2nd Shredder salvo. 4- Fire both broadside i-beam emplacements. 5- Toggle ion-drive backup. Brakes- Toggle Solar Arrays. All other weapons are fired via staging. DISCLAIMER: NO LAUNCH VEHICLE INCLUDED. YOU WILL NEED TO EITHER HYPEREDIT IT INTO ORBIT OR MAKE YOUR OWN LIFTER. So, I managed to fully update the good 'ol SX-3 Ingressor-Class pocket destroyer for 0.25, adding more fuel, better armor, a backup ion drive, and a better rear hull. The SX-3 MKII will be released on my company thread and quite likely on HatBat's "Military Series Ship Submissions" thread. Also, Zekes: the persist is being set up as I type this.
-
I'd try and join in on the stream (voice only, due to a crappy cam), but I've got IRL stuff going on that precludes me from doing that. Also, the SX-3 has been reborn: I'll put it up in the DL folder on my OP on page 2 of this thread, once some more testing has gone down.
-
Sure, lemme set up a persist. Also, I did test out the Drek (an older 0.25 variant, but still an 0.25 one) VS. my SX-10. Drek shooting SX-10: (I sadly forgot to take an aftermath pic, but the SX-10 survived, minus the upper bridge area, and with some of the cannon's hull plating screwed up. However, all fuel and other weapons were A-OK.) SX-10 shooting Drek: All in all, the Drek line is still tough-as nails, but they're not invuln (nor any any ships, for that matter). The SX-10 is a tough son-of-a-gun, and the line should prove to be quite useful. Bonus pic from testing: Remember kids, this is why you NEVER spam spacebar when using a KSP warship.
-
Lots of weapons. Lots and lots of glorious weapons... Also, the SX-10's my only 810 part ship so far, and most of my older (and still 100% functional) designs are a bit easier on the RAM.
-
So, like I said earlier, is anyone interested in doing a space battle at say... Vall? I'll set up if someone accepts.
-
I'd say pick HKA, since my company (the MU) is allied with them, and they do a ton of Kethane mining and refining, whilst GMI just seems to act like imperialist jerks 24/7.
-
Sure thing, since I was meaning to run some tests in a fresh "firing range" save.
-
Veery carefully...

Wound up finishing my warship: It's available on my company thread, the Naval Battle thread under Forum Games, and on the Military Series Submissions thread. -
*Hops in SX-10 Tart-Cart* "Alright men, set course for Laythe!"

MORE. Always more...

No problem, I'm looking forward to seeing how sustained heavy artillery fire works in 0.25 combat. I can see some epic battles in KS season two now, seeing this veritable arms bazaar we've got here. Yup. The vast majority stems from the i-beam missile batteries, as each missile is made of roughly 8 parts, and 8x26=208. I-BEAMS FOR THE I-BEAM GOD! BOOSTERS FOR THE BOOSTER THRONE!
-
That's why the SX-10 has 4 LVNs, with two 2.5 meter tanks providing fuel (each is 1/2 a Jumbo-64, giving the ship a massive range). Anyone interested in doing a space battle?

While I do know very well how the submissions are supposed to work, Dropbox (my DL hosting service of choice) is acting up a bit right now due to high traffic, so I'll have to put this up while I can. Meet the MU SX-10 Osman. The SX-10 line is an ultra-heavy capital ship design, featuring state-of-the-art MU H.A.R.D. hull-plating, massive LFO reserves for long-range campaigns, and unrelenting firepower. Armament: 5x AP SRB (unguided, can be swapped for alt. 1.25 meter muntions) 26x GPI Missile (General Purpose I-beam Missile, unguided) Crew Accommodations: 1x MK2 2-man pod (bridge) 2x Lander Can (1-man each) 6x Chairs (Lander cans and chairs are in the lower passenger/infantry deck) SHIP STATS: Mass: 155 tons (roughly) Parts: 800 (roughly, and with full ammo load) //Action Groups:// 1- LV-Ns (Engines) 2- //EMPTY// 3- SRB shot 1 (from main gun) 4- SRB shot 2 (from main gun) 5- SRB shot 3 (from main gun) 6- Exterior I-beams (1) 7- Exterior I-beams (2) All other weapons are fired via staging. DL: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wwl2lj64xh0g7w6/MU%20SX-10%20Osman.craft?dl=0 This is all-stock, BTW.

I shot things at a Drek... However, I have to say that your new Drek is pretty darn tough (it also may have been a matter of phys-lag ), as it shrugged off all an SRB and a quad-salvo of i-beam rounds, leaving only the 1.25m rounds in it's launch tube broken. That's pretty darn good, seeing as the ship could still run. I will be uploading the SX-10 soon, once Dropbox (which I've been using lately) starts working again. Also, this made me realize how large the SX-10 is compared to a Drek... Nah, I just think 0.25's going to be an update where it's going to require more firepower to seriously damage capital ships. EDIT: Ok, Dropbox's working for me now, here's a DL: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wwl2lj64xh0g7w6/MU%20SX-10%20Osman.craft?dl=0

Shredders bascally are homebrew guided missiles with shrapnel clipped inside them, all built around a high-impact core. However, they also can be a tad bit tricky to use, and do heavily boost your partcount. Another drawback is that ultra-rigid hulls sometimes bounce Shredders. That's why a couple of my ships use them, but the rest use AP-tipped SRBs.
-
Actually, my i-beam missile spam system is a huge chunk of the partcount in many of my ships, due to eachiI-beam having six separator rockets acting as propulsion. Magnify that by a factor of 26-30, and that's a ton of tiny rocket engines.
