Thanks for the compliment! As for making smaller, useable weapons in KSP, I still personally make the ship/surface craft before focusing on arming it, but I'll give you a small tip: The smaller/less impact-tolerant your missile, the faster it needs to fly. (It also helps to spam-fire smaller, weaker rounds to generate a sort of "kinetic overload" effect on armored targets.) I'd also recommend experimenting with missiles based off of the smaller structural, science, and utility parts, as they can be quite useful in designing munitions.

While I've been making my move in my battle against daemon (which has taken a bit of time due to PC issues ), I've created a new MU warship. The SX-5 Orbital Supremacy Vehicle is a multipurpose combat starship manufactured by the Mechani Union. It carries lots of firepower (up to 2 1.25m weapons and a ton of smaller i-beam/guided rounds), and has the capability to "burn-in" (drop from orbit) paratrooper drop-pods. The ship is also coated in MU-brand H.A.R.D. reactive/"hybrid" armor, and is designed to ensure maximum survivability in combat. Stats: Parts: just under 400 (with weapons loaded) Mass: Roughly 60-70 tons Crew: Two, with more in the drop-pods, plus redundant AI (probe core) controls in-case of crew incapacitation. Powerplant: Twin LV-N NERVAs, with RCS subsystems.

I'm still up for battling, as I'm still making and using warships in KSP... Just need to get my affairs in order after all this chaos.

Just like with Megalodon, I need to make ships (for orbital combat) that will fit within those regulations. I'd be eager to battle if it weren't for that.

totm june 2018 Work-in-Progress [WIP] Design Thread
ScriptKitt3h replied to GusTurbo's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
So, I've been testing a fun little (well, technically average-sized) pulse jet (LV-909s clipped into basic jets) fighter. However, it seems to want to violently explode upon decelerating from it's uber-high cruising speed, with a small battery in the nose breaking loose and shaking the fuel tanks to bits. Back to the drawing board... -
Sweet VTOL Rune! Me, you, and Cupcake should have a VTOL race someday when MP comes out. (Also, a little tip: if you can fit it in, try using a clipped-in O-10 RCS engine, LV-909, or another small chemical engine to assist the jets, it'll help when in comes to compensating for throttle lag.)

Sadly, we must say goodbye to two of our most talented GNBC players today.... Let us all learn from their mistakes and try to never take things too seriously.
-
Perhaps, but I'm still open for battles, and I'm still waiting on daemon to set up in our battle on Laythe.
-
Hey daemon, you going to respond to the battle post I put up?

Cupcake's Dropship Dealership...
ScriptKitt3h replied to Cupcake...'s topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Yup (technically, it's Texture Replacer, but it's basically the same thing), and also EVE with the Dunan dust storms addon+KerbPaint. I gotta update EVE and TR though, as I like my helmetless kerbals. Also, Minmus shall soon become an epic zero-g firing range! -
So, my MT-18 works in space... If I slap some lateral engines on it (O-10 RCS thrusters, perhaps?), I could probably just leave one on a barracks-station in LKO, waiting to drop in from orbit and raise hell somewhere on Kerbin...

Cupcake's Dropship Dealership...
ScriptKitt3h replied to Cupcake...'s topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I'll have to do some Mun/Minmus testing with it (I call it the Vulture), and the cargo hold has this inside: This config allows light cargo hauling and 4-6 Kerbal infantrymen simultaneously. Also, boom. -
Stock Cargo Seaplane w/ functional loading ramp
ScriptKitt3h replied to gGATORr's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Wow dude, this is amazing! Here, have some rep. Also, that cargo ramp's really cool, how'd you get the hinge to work? -
Yup. I have decent AtA-kill capable missiles, but my aiming skills aren't the best. My AtA kill was basically via spamming dumbfire missiles up close and nailing two points om the fuselage of my target.
-
I shamelessly admit to joining that trend. Time to make an aircraft carrier....
-
It's sorta like how IRL helicopters (and the poorly-flown V22 Osprey) can do certain things that VTOL fighters (which there aren't too many of IRL) aren't built OR meant to do. The MT-18 fills the role of a heavily-armed short-to-mid range gunship/troop-and-cargo carrier, and a persistent air support platform.
-
Trust me, it's tougher than it looks. I crashed it at over 30m/s, destroying a chunk of the nose and the payload bay, and it still flew. The engines are mounted on steel beams, not the actual wings.

Cupcake's Dropship Dealership...
ScriptKitt3h replied to Cupcake...'s topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Hey cupcake, remember how you said you'd like to have a dropship battle at some point? I've got a new front-runner for one. -
I've got another VTOL... The MT-18 Vulture is fully armed and operational. Live-Fire testing:

Mid-Air Refuel / Multi-Craft Tutorial
ScriptKitt3h replied to JAGER-MAN Industries's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
So, I had another go at trying this concept (in a much more destructive manner)... -
Nah, I just fly 'em slowly and carefully. Using precise control (caps lock) helps, as does leaving SAS on 24/7 whilst in VTOL mode. You also might want to check how the fuel drains while flying/hovering, as that can heavily affect VTOL performance.

So... considering some people are getting into air-to-air combat (looking at you, Zekes), or at least practicing it, I decided to see if it was possible. *My Plane: MU XD-Y Spectre outfitted with 2 IBeam missiles and 2 guided missiles* *Target Plane: VL Renegade, outfitted with 6 small rockets* (Sorry I had to shoot down your plane there, Fleet. It just was a good target drone for the test.) So I now can say I've shot down another ship in air-to-air fighting.

This came in handy when I did this: Thanks for the tip Jager-Man. -
SSTOs! Post your pictures here~
ScriptKitt3h replied to KissSh0t's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
After making a new 2-seater multi-role strike fighter (based off the F-4B Phantom II), I decided it might be SSTO capable. (It has "afterburner" rockets clipped into it's jets.) The MU XD-Y Spectre is now a fully-operational SSTO fighter! (However, I might just strap micro-sats to the missile hardpoints and use it like a shuttle.)
