  1. Heh... I used that 'ol drone as the basis for my new VTOL's design.
  2. So, I finished a new gunship.... Expect these in a battle soon. Also, before anyone thinks disk rockets can't do squat against modern tanks and other surface units, these ones get up to 250 m/s in only a second or two. Considering the max impact tolerance of steel plate armor is 80 (though it can glitch out on impact, making it more around 100 m/s tolerance), I feel pretty safe in saying that the higher-speed stack rockets beat it.
  3. So, after seeing several recent combat VTOLs being released, I decided to finish my own. Meet the MU MT-16 Goshawk, a VTOL Gunship primed and ready for 0.24. The MT-16 is both an atmospheric AND low-grav. VTOL, primarily due to it's trio of engine types. For horizontal flight, it is equipped with a pair of brand-new O-10 RCS Engines, while it's vertical flight systems include both a basic jet and 6 ion engines. The Goshawk is armed by default with dual high-speed rocket stacks, but can be easily retrofitted to fire other types of rockets and missiles, or free-drop bombs. It also is equipped with emergency backup chutes, to help accommodate less experienced pilots. This VTOL also features strong SAS and winglet-based stabilizers, enabling precise, steady control of the craft. The current cost-per-unit of this craft (for career mode) is roughly 103,073 funds, including twin 4-shot ammo stacks. //ACTION GROUPS:// 1- Toggles the VTOL Jet. 2- Toggles O-10 RCS Engines. 3- Toggles Ions. 4- Solar Arrays (for use w/ ions) 5- Activate the emergency parachutes. The rockets are link-fired via staging, and are pre-staged to make the craft skirmish-ready immediately. This minor upgrade to the Goshawk slightly re-arranges the weapons, moving the disk rockets slightly and adding a pair of i-beam based HE missiles. It also is somewhat more stable when hovering due to the added weight of the ammo. DL: https://www.dropbox.com/s/is49drjiike9uvk/MU%20MT-16B%20%20Gunship.craft ///Mechani Union Military Shipyards///
  4. I have a (military) projects list in order... 1. Re-Arm all glitched MU combat designs from 0.23.5. 2. Complete a new VTOL Gunship. (MT-16) 3. Finish a new TOP SECRET prototype thing.... Also, the rebooted battle with daemon's almost ready to post, but I still need to fix a glitch in my game.
  5. I have an Ingressor-class Destroyer. The ships of that series so far are the the Klue and ADA. Guess which team I root for. Also, I'll have the rebooted battle with daemon put up tomorrow.
  6. My Jeb's currently stuck in Munar orbit with almost no fuel, onboard a large SSTO shuttle. In another save, he's engaged in a huge battle for control of KSC, acting as the pilot of this:
  7. So, I made an SSTO-shuttle and took the main 3 (Bill, Bob, and Jeb) out the Mun to complete a contract. Needless to say, I underestimated the range on it, and stuck them in LMO while I build a fuel tanker for them.
  8. I've used an LVN-powered Flying-Wing Shuttle, that I call the CTV-13 "Sagan". (I have a ported over save from 0.23.5, so I have a maxed out tree w/ a decent amount of pre-generated funding/sci points.) The twin LFBs carry it up into LKO, and the LVN circularizes. (And yes, I know there's an intense amount of part clipping. It's there to improve the look.)
  9. Aye! The Sagan is heavily clipped, with the LVN running off of an LFO tank clipped inside the body. However, the jet fuselage parts are emptied via tweakables, since the shuttle doesn't neex too much extra fuel. Also, Rune, nice SSTO! I'll have to finish mine (which will be both same size and scaled up) soon. (Also, the base fuselage is actually an old prototype ship I had made back in 0.22, and then abandoned.)
  10. I don't think funds should matter in battles, if only for the fact that they're pretty much always in sandbox mode saves, and the warships are going to be severely limited in terms of design, armament, and fuel reserves when compared to ships that are built without trying to "cut costs". In real life, the most powerful militaries and defense contractors have immense amounts of funding. Also, daemon, I'll have a re-start post up soon, with a somewhat smaller scale land battle.
  11. Go right ahead. I believe it weighs about 9 tons, though I'm not 100% sure. In any case, I'm going to try and make a 3-Kerbal SSTO using a similar design, then a much bigger one with science gear onboard and room for more Kerbals.
  12. I'll soon have a science-ready SSTO made in 0.24, but for now I've been using a little flying-wing crew shuttle that runs off an LVN. I call it the CTV-13 Sagan. It uses a pair of non-reused LFBs to get into orbit, but the Kerbals I recover from a runway landing plus any contracts completed cover the cost. I can recover up to two stranded Kerbals (for contracts) at once with this, plus it has the potential to go on Munar missions and land on Minmus. Plus, it looks really cool, and glides (almost) like an infiniglider.
  13. Hey daemon, I've been getting the same bug you have with 0.24. All my i-beam missiles, or any separator rocket+probe stack disk type round for that matter, are completely useless. They lack any way to launch (the game refuses to acknowledge that there is even a missile on a docking port), and the only fix is to recover a craft and re-arm it with missiles produced post-0.24 update. In light of this, (and your Kraken issues in our battle,) do you wish to re-start? Perhaps with a smaller amount of craft, and more advanced units? If you don't, I completely understand and will attempt to make my move however I can. EDIT: This might just a problem with 64 bit. If so, I'll stick to my laggy 32 bit install.
  14. Maybe, maybe not, since I'm not a spectacular pilot. In any case, while testing my new SSTO fighter (designated the "XD-X") I managed to pull off some quite amazing aerial stunts with it, such as power-slides and flipping the plane (losing control), then dramatically pulling out of the self-induced stall and rocketing low over the R&D Center. Also, here's a some what better view of the bird: Also, a dogfight against your X-32 would be interesting, considering that I got a bit of inspiration from (oddly enough) the Northrop YF-23 Black Widow II.
  15. Better hurry. I've just finished my TRUE next-gen SSTO fighter (w/ VTOL): I can't wait to upgrade my PC so it won't go into conniptions trying to record flight via FRAPS...
  16. Nah. It's a unconventional scout fighter SSTO. It flies decently, has dual RAPIERs for VTOL, and is lightly armed. Though a RAPIER-powered kamikaze drone/cruise missile is a good idea...
  17. Thanks, but I've already tested it a bit myself, and it performs well for its purpose.
  18. BATTLE UPDATE! The MU APT-1 Heron Trident 2 attacks the DCOV Atakabune. The Atakabune was moderately damaged, but appears to be operational. In response, the Heron MK2 is now under development. Also, MBT-2 Wolverine 1 managed to right itself and retreat to another part of KSC. Persist: http://www./download/gdyckidw7oukqjk/persistent(16).sfs
  19. Heads up- due to extenuating circumstances (wisdom tooth surgery ), I'll have to put up my battle post (s) tomorrow.
  20. Build an amphibious rover and take it to the Island Airfield. Fastest time wins.
  21. Glad to hear! However, the Oracle's actually a heavily armed, high-partcount warship. (With missiles onboard) I do have another preexisting ship that might meet your needs, though. The Conquistador-class has 3 variants, and is specifically designed as a mothership. If you are interested, shoot me a PM and I'll fetch a DL link for ya. You can also ask on my company thread (if you want to) about having a freshly-designed ship made, as I always like a good challenge.
  22. I'd suggest you take a look at the Rocket Builders subforum, as there are companies willing and able to take requests, as well as a huge catalog of pre-existing, fully functional craft.
  23. Nice! Please stay on-topic though. (Warfare, military craft, etc.)
