Ok. I'll edit my last post once I do so to show an updated persist link.
-
Ok. However, the cockpit/nose was blown off and the left wing was shredded somewhat.... so it's not really airworthy, unless I'm mistaken.
-
Some people (I'm not going to name names or Steam IDs...) thought that this gunship I made needed mod parts or cheats to fly.... Nah, and it's uber-stable.

Battle Update Due to the fact that I couldn't arrange for my spare MU ALS-1 unit to get ferried from the Island to KSC (game kept lagging, and almost crashing due to RAM usage, plus I was short on time today ), I used my next lightest ground unit, the MBT-2 Wolverine 1 to attack the daeCorp Megasoma bomber while it was nice and vulnerable.... The bomber is 100% unusable, save for some sort of fuel depot.... Also, (since it's useless on the Island anyways) can I replace my unused ALS-1 unit with one of my little VTOL Drones, daemon? Your move. Persist: http://www./download/gd69cm28r8r726j/persistent(15).sfs

I miss that show... - - - Updated - - - Hmm.... I wonder who was the guest author?
-
Ok, I understand. I was just positing that it would be cool, if it worked. Which it obviously would probably not.
-
That's why there's a limit to how long/far you go with things like that. It all comes down to player behavior, and how responsible players can be in a battle with teams. EDIT: I see. That's why my suggestion was sort of intended for short, best 2 out of 3-type things, to make sure it'd not become RP. Trust me, I know that the rules are to be followed.
-
How so? If it's done carefully, and has the rules checked by the mods first, it wouldn't be a violation of the rules. I do understand your worry, though.

That type of a battle would be really fun, although I'd structure it like this: 1. 4 or 6 Companies/Fleets 2. Alliances, with 2 corps per alliance/team to ensure an even start to a war. 3. 2 corps battle in orbit (one from each team), while two battle on the surface of a planet. 4. Battles would have to be won in orbit and on the surface to "Win" a battle, thereby forcing the losing alliance to move to another world. 5. Stalemates would be called in case of one alliance winning on the surface and the other in orbit, or vice versa. Then both alliances engage in full force (2v2) in the theater of combat that is agreed upon. 6. A best 2 out of 3, or similar thing would suffice to see if an alliance "won" the full war, but it could also be custom-tailored, such as having permadeath for units (once a unit is totaled, it can't be replaced), or having strategic objectives that count towards winning overall. I think a upgraded/modified ruleset/rule expansion would make larger, team-based battles work and still be quite fun for everyone involved. Plus, it would make for great YouTube vids for people who can record! I'll help set up a 2v2 or 3v3 once I finish my invasion of KSC against daeCorp, since it'll help prep me for future surface battles.

Yeah, I'm fine with that. Make sure to document that though (with screenshots). Once you do that, I make a post outlining the... disposal of the jumpgate. Good game. EDIT: I'll shoot it, but considering how rigid your hulls are... I might deorbit it near the jumpgate..... I'll experiment with that.... It would look somewhat cool though. (Crashed jumpgate and ship on a desert island planet...)

Hey guys... I've discovered our best community KSP trailer yet: It also suits our battles quite perfectly. (sarcasm alert for those who have undeveloped senses of humor....)

///INVASION COMMENCING/// So, it turn out that despite taking a severe beating, Wolverine 3 was A-Ok. I then took it to attack the bomber..... but it was.... indisposed already. I think you angered the Kraken somehow, daemon. So, daemon, you might want to get your bomber looked at.... I don't mind if you want to re-spawn it, though. //Battle Update// Following the brazen attack on the Klue, its sister ship the ADA was tasked with ANNIHILATING the BB Prophecy. As you can clearly see, the ADA, Klue, and Maverick all are fully operational and still armed. I can take out any ship I wish, and you have one left. If you surrender now, I will be lenient and allow your surviving ship, the Overwatch, to retreat through your jumpgate before I deorbit it onto the surface of Laythe. Your choice, BrightBritches. Yup, for some reason my ALS-1 units seem to be quite hardy, I think since their uber-high-impact chassis plus their wing plate armor shell acts like the H.A.R.D. hybrid armor I use on my capital ships..... That, and the fact that they're nice and compact. Post coming in the morning.
-
Good hit man! However, the Klue's not fully disabled.... a small amount of Shredders still are intact, plus broadside i-beams and working engines make the ship injured, but VERY angry. The Prophecy will not survive the next phase of combat. I guarantee that.... In any case, you did score an awesome blow, so your upgraded Nugget-class is quite effective. Nice work. (Post coming tomorrow, since I'm about to get some sleep.)

Sorry to hear. Is the crashing random or caused by the save?

//BATTLE ALERT!// All units, be advised. MU forces are prepping to invade KSC! Mechani Union vs. daeCorp BATTLE OF KSC: Operation Kerbfall Location: KSC, Island Airfield, and the ocean in and around that area. Rules: Standard, plus: 1. Maximum of 11-13 units total. 2. Only 4 air units max. 3. 4 Ground per team. (MAX) 4. 3-4 Naval vessels per team. (The bigger a ship or all the ships are, the less are used. i.e., smaller ships can come in a group of 4.) (MAX) 5. Max. parts per air or naval vessel is 400 with ammunition loaded. (This may seem a bit generous, but some air units and naval vessels can suck up parts FAST.) Ground: 250 per unit. Be reasonable, though. 6. K-Drive/"Slipstream Drive" propulsion is allowed for naval ships, but all other forms of Kraken-tech are prohibited. (We don't want to lose this battle to a Kraken! ) 7. Special Rule: Transport Craft: This rule allows for players to have "transports" that do not count as combatant craft. They are air or naval craft purely designed to ferry ground units across the ocean between KSC and the Island. Players may spawn these craft IF NEED BE to ferry units, but must delete them from the persist once they complete their turn. They also must show that they used such a craft, and that it was unarmed. However, these craft may not re-load ammo supplies of combatant craft, nor re-fuel them. MU Marine Corps-Task Force Bravo TOTAL UNITS: 11 The MU task force's ground units (save for one acting as AA for the island) are on the beaches of KSC already. Prepare to defend yourself, daemon! (Also, daecorp's spawn/base is KSC.) Persist: http://www./download/ie8por62tlw4g14/persistent(12).sfs

Hmm... that looks suspiciously like a Vanguard-Class..... Looks fierce and tough to kill. Nice!
-
I don't disagree that good piloting and tactics are useful, but a VTOL allows you to hover near a hard-to-hit target and unload missiles on it with precision and stability.Just a suggestion.

Cupcake's Dropship Dealership...
ScriptKitt3h replied to Cupcake...'s topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
My MT-13A carries 4 i-beam missiles (high speed, damage, and accuracy), and two light rocket stacks by default, but it has a huge cargo bay with room for guided missiles, cargo modules, bomb racks, or even a light tank! Man, I need to make some pics and post it properly. Also, the Spectre looks nice and stealthy. The "Diplomat" model is definitely a force to be reckoned with. -
Needs more VTOL.
-
The battle post will be up soon.... my game's just acting up a tad bit (phys. glitchiness), and the post will take quite a few images to show my forces.... Also, ya'll hear that 0.24 will get a 64 bit release? Heck yes! Now we can hurl even more missiles at each other using even larger, more outlandish ships! P.S.: Hey BrightBritches, you got your post ready?
-
My VTOL Drones might be somewhat cutesy, but they can rain missiles on targets from high above!
