  1. Any news on this issue? It has been quite a while.
  2. I switched the crew between the two vessels, as Jannie Kerman originally signed up for circumnavigation. I then timewarped through the night... And what has happened here? Whoah, Nellie!
  3. Yep, you're certified! Right through this door, here, follow this young man. He'll show you to the hangar. *door closes, plaque reads "Intensive Care Unit"* (Whispering) Okay, you there, how would you like to be the new pilot? I've managed to push this craft to 130 m/s on water. It seems to be safe as long as you stay level and straight. If the engines or the nose even *taps* the water at that speed, instant destruction of respective part. Be careful out there!

Gah, don't know why I missed this. Yep, Randazzo's gotten it. Sorry everyone. I thought it said "Magnifying Glass", or I thought that I had made the answer to be the same, but he wrote microscope. I was torn between these two when writing it, so that didn't help.
  5. For other purposes, not for the challenge. It can do the transition from land to water and from water to land alright. Here goes nothing! CRN-07 Dawn Racer is officially starting the Elcano Challenge! - - - Updated - - - For the South Pole! Engage! EDIT: Look who we found!

    Right track, but no.
  7. Ooof, close, but no cigar for you I'm afraid. Ethanadams!
  8. Forum was 502'd for like three hours over here...

    Nope, nope, aaaaand, nope.
  10. You... don't. The real shuttle's SSME's were rotated backwards as well. It used separate engines, the OMS engines, to do orbital maneuvers.
  11. Remember, they faked the Mun landings... it was all a sound stage on Duna! Welcome aboard!
  12. Transmission from KSC Headquarters -- Specifications of Experimental Vehicle For Your Eyes Only: CRN-07 Dawn Racer The Dawn Racer is a much improved model of the CRN-05 Spirion II, boasting better range, speed, and handling. Though it cannot land on water from the air like the Spirion, it trumps the other with its sheer speed, a whopping 120 m/s in the ocean. The Dawn Racer gets its name from the uncanny speed that it can achieve: 220 m/s on land. Even on hilly terrain, if the craft is limited to a relative vertical velocity of under 10 m/s, it can go at any speed. It can also fly as an aircraft at approximately 160 m/s. Instruction Manual 1 - Toggle extra intakes. Reduces drag by a large amount. 2 - Toggle backmost landing gear. Easy takeoff mode. To take off, you must be on land. Warranty voided if water takeoff is attempted. Hit 2 to raise the back gear. Gently pitch up, and don't strike the engines on the ground. Go as far back as you dare, and soon you should achieve liftoff. Raise your gear and soar to your heart's content. When you want to come back down, don't even bother throttling down. Hit the ground at under 10 m/s of vertical speed (relative to the terrain, if you're coming up on a mountain, you're screwed.) and you should be A-OK! You must land on... well, land. Ocean landings have resulted in Termination of employee contracts, shortly before their deaths. New applicants are still in the mail, so don't you try this too! To go on water, simply enter at under 20 m/s. Careful of the long nose. The craft is tested up to 120 m/s of water speed, but this is not advised. Stick to under 90 m/s if you want to be assured of your safety, and consequently your life. That or your paycheck, whichever you hold dearer, because we can't pay you when you're dead. Exiting water is not difficult, however: do not exceed 10 m/s of forward speed. Engines striking the seas of Kerbin is common. Deploy your landing gear beforehand, as well. Enclosed below are several photographs of this craft in action. Learn to use it well, recruit. Good luck, recruit. Here's the key, knock yourself out. DOWNLOAD "Dawn Racer" Please don't actually do that, you can't pilot it while unconscious... All stats were tested in Kerbal Space Program Version 1.0.
  13. It doesn't land on water very good yet.... Is it technique, or capability? As of yet, unknown. EDIT: Oh, dear... I don't think this is safe. I don't think so at all.
  14. "What did the pirate say when he turned eighty?" "Aye, matey..." Read it out loud first.... EDIT: Praise Imgur! "I hope the person who created the first pun died a horrible, horrible death." "It would've had to be a pretty killer pun, though." "NO."
  15. Give it some Ion engines for forward push, and some plane landing gear. Those can make it to over 80 m/s easy. (Don't try it on a hill, though) If you want to go faster I'd suggest the medium sized gear, they seem ridiculously strong. Stronger than the small and large sizes.
  16. Note: Not "to" or "from".... "On" the Sun. (Yeah, yeah, by definition, that's what is should be. But it still sounds funny.) What's getting into these tourists? They tryin' to sabotage your reputation or somethin'?
