[0.24][No Longer Updating]Pre-Flight Checklist v0.1
Woopert replied to _Q3's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Looks really nice, I'll be using this once 0.24 comes around. -
I've found that NearFutureSolar creates problems with loading the RSS solar system. I removed mods until the problem was fixed and I noticed that this mod has a DLL file that seems to conflict with RSS. It loads the default Kerbin and doesn't show the space center upon loading a new game. output_log will come in a few minutes, I just need to load up KSP again. Edit: Well, I put the NearFutureSolar folder back into my RSS install and it seems to have loaded properly this time, don't know what happened. I'll post the log file anyways. Oh, and if you see something about the game crashing, it's because I tried to Alt+Tab while leaving the space center screen on the way to the main menu screen. I got impatient, haha. https://www.dropbox.com/s/l726k98roeupyty/output_log.txt

Three Kerbal SNC 'DreamChaser' and Atlas V variant
Woopert replied to Majorjim!'s topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I just had to hold back the pitch controls to keep it steady. Other than that it was pretty good. -
Three Kerbal SNC 'DreamChaser' and Atlas V variant
Woopert replied to Majorjim!'s topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
I tried using MechJeb fully during launch so I could control the camera but MechJeb couldn't control it during the early parts of the launch very well. I waited until it was high enough so the atmosphere wasn't affecting the launch much. -
Three Kerbal SNC 'DreamChaser' and Atlas V variant
Woopert replied to Majorjim!'s topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Yeah, most of it was me flying through knowing it would fail to grab the footage, then flying through again to get to the next part of the mission. I also used MechJeb once I was out of the atmosphere (so the rocket wouldn't tumble over) and I used it for docking, though I did set up the rendezvous manually. For the landing, the screen was to obscured by clouds to accurately gauge where to de-orbit, so I came up short. When I wasn't recording I had infinite fuel and RCS on, both for in-orbit operations and for getting the extra boost to land. I also used hacked gravity to get enough distance to land (though I disabled it for the video footage scenes). Of course it would be much easier to fly without trying to record at the same time. -
Three Kerbal SNC 'DreamChaser' and Atlas V variant
Woopert replied to Majorjim!'s topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
If anyone's interested in seeing it in action I made a little "cinematic" for it. Cheers for making the design, Majorjim! -
[0.90] Kerbin Shuttle Orbiter System v4.13
Woopert replied to helldiver's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Here you go, I think this is what you mean http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/68196-CoolRockets!-Cryo-and-Launch-Particle-FX -
Mods that should really be stock: Docking Port Alignment Indicator Environmental Visual Enhancements Astronomer's Visual Pack for EVE Enhanced Navball Kerbal Engineer Redux Final Frontier Kerbal Alarm Clock Sam Hall Mk2 IVA TouhouTorpedo Mk3 IVA RasterPropMonitor Distant Object Enhancement CactEye Telescope Ferram Aerospace Research Procedural Fairings (I kind of prefer pre-made fairings though) EditorExtensions Stockalike mods that would be nice to have as stock: KSPX RLA Stockalike SpaceplanePlus Porkjet's Habitat mod Home Grown Rocket Parts Kerbal Aircraft Expansion SXT Aerojet Kerbodyne SDHI Service Module System Space Shuttle Engines (and the KM Gimbal plugin) Kerbin Shuttle Orbiter System Taurus HCV Kerbal Attachment System CoolRockets HotRockets Firespitter plugin Yeah, I like mods a lot. That's why I split up the list into the necessities (i.e., if something similar isn't implemented KSP that wouldn't be good) and the mods that are fun to play with and would be nice to have as stock.

Wow, very nice! It's cool to have two mods now that change the aerodynamics, I like it. :-) -
[0.25] Realism Overhaul w/ RedAV8R [Terminated]
Woopert replied to RedAV8R's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I love the new Realism Overhaul. It works really well. Red -- do you have an ETA for when the craft files will be released? Sorry to bug you. -
Messerschmitt Me 163 Komet rocket fighter
Woopert replied to xoknight's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
The Komet is a really cool plane, I'm glad you got around to making it in KSP. You did a great job! Rep for you. -
What should be worked on after .24?
Woopert replied to skyace65's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
I think the ability to further the research of parts would be cool. Doing more research and finding ways to make existing parts more efficient, more powerful, any other improvements -- that would add some fun to career. Similar to how in real life SpaceX made the Merlin 1C for the Falcon v1.0 (which was smaller, and less powerful / lower payload to orbit) and they upgraded to the Merlin 1D to create more thrust for the Falcon v1.1 (which is taller, more powerful / greater payload to orbit). -
[0.90] Kerbin Shuttle Orbiter System v4.13
Woopert replied to helldiver's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but are the RPM files any different from the ones you get from downloading Mihara's version? If I pre-installed RPM before, should I still drag in the JSI folder to get the custom screens to work? Thanks! -
Should Squad update the start screen?
Woopert replied to Majorjim!'s topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
They could add another alternate screen, personally I love the Mun start screen, it really shows how in-depth KSP goes to [somewhat] accurately depict spaceflight. I don't know many other games where you get to fly your spacecraft the whole way to the point of touching down on the surface. Another start screen wouldn't hurt to add, though. Do you have a picture / screencap of the movie MOON? That would be great! :-) -
Zepto Eagleworks - Z-51 "Cobra" V/STOL
Woopert replied to Giggleplex777's topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Those look great! I'm amazed how people like you always find cool ways to innovate on this KSP technology. ;-) Is that Astronomer's EVE pack in the background? -
I didn't think of that one either, but I'll vote for that as well. Technically I already voted but if calisker sees this, you have my permission to take a vote away from Space Tycoon and add one to Financial Frontier.

Three Kerbal SNC 'DreamChaser' and Atlas V variant
Woopert replied to Majorjim!'s topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Apparently the Dream Chaser has a mass of 11.3 mT (Wikipedia). I think those are older concepts, possibly. Now that more work has been done on the project I think they can better estimate the mass of the Dream Chaser, which is 11.3 mT as of now. Atlas V 402 can lift 12.5 mT to low Earth orbit. It looks fine though, I like the boosters since they add cool effects. :-) -
Three Kerbal SNC 'DreamChaser' and Atlas V variant
Woopert replied to Majorjim!'s topic in KSP1 The Spacecraft Exchange
Downloaded now, I'll give it a go. Which pictures did you see with an Atlas V with boosters? They may just have been fuel lines or something. DC uses Atlas V 402. It looks like you made an Atlas V 421. Not that it matters, though -- you got it working in-game so that's all I care about. -
[0.23.5] Hollow Structures & Hulls (Updated: 2014-04-09)
Woopert replied to Alskari's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Alskari, if you're still active on the forums -- could you upload the Cubic series to another download site? Thanks. -
They do that to get people interested in spaceflight again, the majority of people these days are incredibly stupid. Anyways, SLS Block I can lift 70 mT to orbit, Falcon Heavy can lift 53 mT to orbit. That's for the expendable version of the Falcon Heavy. SLS Block II will lift 130 mT and possibly 150 mT with the Pyrios F-1B boosters. SLS is designed for deep space missions and missions that obviously require a lot of mass to be lifted into orbit. I'm not even sure if FH is man-rated, something SLS is designed for. NASA has much more experience in deep space exploration. The SLS will prove to be crucial for these missions. Don't get me wrong, I love SpaceX and what they do, but they're no where close yet. All these "Falcon X" and "Falcon XX" arguments are silly since both of those designs are just concepts. SLS is already under development and is slated for a December 2017 launch. I don't know why everyone has to get all defensive over how "SpaceX is better than NASA" or vice versa. They're stupid arguments, we're all trying to do the same thing: enable further exploration of the human race, and to accomplish various spaceflight objectives. We all know by now about Dragon V2 and Falcon 9R, yes, SpaceX is focusing on LEO and ISS missions. NASA has already done such and are looking to private companies such as SpaceX, Sierra Nevada Corporation, and Boeing to take over the job. NASA wants to visit asteroids (in lunar orbit) and eventually Mars. SpaceX will definitely get there someday but that is NASA's responsibility for now. SpaceX is on the fast track for heavy lifting, FH might even launch 2015 or 2016. They're not trying to compete, however. SpaceX is looking to lower the costs of lifting needs. NASA is focusing on deep space missions, currently SpaceX has no clue how to even accomplish such things. It would be much easier to cooperate (which is what NASA and SpaceX actually do IRL, the whole commercial resupply program and such), but instead there's a bunch of SpaceX and NASA fanboys. Just respect both, okay? They're both doing great things for humanity. NASA also has a limited budget, SpaceX is private and runs off of their own funding. Again, please respect both agencies / companies and let's just hope for the best in humanity's future.

[WIP][1.0.5]* RSS Visual Enhancements (RVE)
Woopert replied to pingopete's topic in KSP1 Mod Development
This looks fantastic! I'll be using this tomorrow. To clarify: is the RSSconfig for if you play without the Planet Factory config of RSS?
