  1. Oh, the NovaPunch engine isn't what solved the problem. You see, the page for aWolfs mods has two to download. I downloaded the mod at the top instead of the LES pack. Once I downloaded the LES, poof everything works! I've been turning at about 5km in RSS but there is a big gravity turn at 10km. I always get re-entry effects while launching though, is my trajectory too shallow? By the way, thanks for all the time you put into the Real Saturn V. Once frizzank completes the Apollo pack for FASA will you be integrating the LEM featured in the mod? There is currently a beta release that includes the lander and some Saturn IB parts and it's very nice. It would look really good on your rocket (or should I say inside, since it's in the fairing)
  2. Has anyone tried making a Minotaur V? It looks cool but might be challenging due to it being all solid fueled http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minotaur_V Also, a video of the SLS Block I. This time it uses the liquid boosters with the F-1B engines. Might make a Block II later with J-2X engines http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uz8mUyIROXg
  3. I was really confused by that too, but I figured out a while ago that the SLS has 4 engines. NASA's website and Wikipedia both show 4 engines. Links below
  4. Nooooooooooo.... Well, congrats but I really wish the USA would have won
  5. Hmm, just found this thread. I was planning on starting one asking for people's opinions on taking reusability to the extent that SpaceX does. Personally I think they take it too far... It's probably cheaper to make a new upper stage than trying to have it survive re-entry and refurbishing it. It's also safer to just make a new one, I think Re-using the first stage seems difficult but totally do-able, don't know how effective it actually is. Side question, why does SpaceX use RP-1 for the upper stage? Isn't LH2 more efficient? Or for SpaceX does cost > efficiency?
  6. Thanks for explaining it However, on a real Saturn V the lander is not connected to the Apollo spacecraft. The fairings connect the Apollo spacecraft to the rest of the rocket.

  8. Actually, I just came up with a possible solution. Would you be able to swap out the F-1s for the 5 F-1 engine from NovaPunch? Hopefully that should eliminate the issues I'm having. Oh, and I searched the log. It didn't seem like there was a problem. The F-1 has the name you said it should be but it still doesn't want to load. EDIT: Scratch everything, I'm so happy! I got it to work, what happened was I installed a different mod from aWolf. He has two mods, so I installed the LES and it loads!
  9. Very cool? But how does it even work? I was having a hard time following along somehwo
  10. The part name already was in the same format, with an underscore. I noticed in the craft file I saw a bunch of numbers when it referenced to the F-1 part, so I tried changing the part in the GameData folder to match that as well. Really confused, I'm gonna reinstall the F-1 mod again and download the Saturn V fresh again. I think it might be because of where I downloaded the Hakari F-1 mod. The original link is no longer available for download but someone posted a link from what was on their system. Anyway to fix the possibly corrupted parts? It's weird cause the F-1 parts work in game but don't seem to be the same as the one on SFJackBauer's craft.
  11. First one. I think the first one looks more realistic, on the second one you can see where the OMS pods start with the nosecones on the front. Wait, while typing this I realized how the engines are still angled while the actual pods are still straight. This is a tough decision. The RCS setup on the new one is also better in that it extrudes from the back. How many more parts is it? Odysseus STS is already an amazingly low part count for what it is, not sure which to choose.
  12. Try spamming control lifting surfaces. They can be placed over each other on the wings, or try clipping them inside the body of the orbiter.
  13. Okay, so here is the Space Launch System Block I! It features the Orion MPCV spacecraft with a Space Shuttle OMS engine, otherwise known as the AJ10-190. This runs on MMH and N2O4. Everything is approximately to scale via the use of proportions to compare real life dimensions relative to the command pod size in RealismOverhaul! The boosters are the proper width proportionally and approximately the same height (had to guess on this). They burn for 124 seconds - just like the real 5 segment Solid Rocket Boosters that will be used on Block I of the SLS! The core stage has 4 RS-25D's, otherwise known as SSMEs. They run off of the cryogenic fuel combo of LH2 and LOX. The second stage has 1 RL10B-2, which while with a mere thrust of 110 KN is highly effiecient. It has been tested and can get into an eccentric orbit (possibly circular if you're a better RSS pilot than me), which can further be circularized with the upper stage. I'm almost sure those are all the mods but once again, see if it works! Pictures
  14. ... yep Block 1 with Orion. Although it has a tendency to... catch on fire It's my first real time going through RSS so I'd say I did alright for being new.
  15. Anyone want to guess what this is? It's almost finished! Oh, and nice SpaceX rockets there!
  16. By failed to load do you mean when loading the game up? There's no way to load a ship if it's locked. Sorry if I'm causing you trouble
  17. Hmm... I chekced the cfg as well and it was named that. Still puzzled but really can't wait to try it out!
  18. Not sure actually, I installed MechJeb and many other RSS compatible mods and still no luck. Perhaps we need to change the name of the F-1 part? I saw that SFJackBauer said that you need to delete the space in the part name or something. I also noticed that the DL links for Hakari's F-1 engine are gone. Someone else reposted the part though. Could that have possible changed any files in the mod?
  19. I was having the same problem, but reading the craft file on the Mediafire page it looks like it has MechJeb parts! A ha! Off to install MechJeb and see if that works. Will report back later since this is such a glorious creation!
  20. Could someone post a link to ej_sa's Space Shuttle? I've yet to seen it and am quite curious
  21. Very nice! I'm not sure when I'll return to EL, but I didn't have a good experience. I totally couldn't figure out how the resources worked
  22. Wow! Would you be open (pun intended since it's Open Source Construction Techniques for Craft Aesthetics...) to share that download? It looks like a nice Apollo style transposition, docking, and extraction. Also GusTurbo, looking forward towards Micro Apollo. It looks sweet !
