RCS constantly translates forward
11of10 replied to mjl1966's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, modded installs)
I think the problem is with RCSFix that comes with Realism Overhaul, I remember reading somewhere that there are two versions of it, one that makes RCS do that when on full throttle, the other that doesn't. -
I usually do test extensively, since I play Realism Overhaul career with disabled reverting and permadeath. Actually I caught myself testing my Moon rocket just as much as real Saturn V was tested, with as much automated tests as possible

Gdmn, sorry gang, seems I fell for it. Tho some google time later, seems that the BBC reported on the same thing: http://www.bbc.com/news/25141597 Tho, with a bit less enthusiasm maybe I got hooked on this because I read some years before a similar statement about Lunar He3 being used to power human civilization...

Unable to run in 'true' Fullscreen
11of10 replied to Cryst0's topic in KSP1 Technical Support (PC, unmodded installs)
@biohazard15 because in real full screen, the game suspends itself when I alt+tab out, and sometimes I prefer it that way, so that I can leave it running without the long wait for loading (mods) and do something else. I usually started it with -popupwindow and alt+enter it to full screen, and revert to popup when I want it for quick tabs. -
One sentence you could say to annoy an entire fan base?

Moon landings were faked! -
DDR2. You can't really upgrade that stuff comfortably. Other than that, it's nice, if a little old.
-
Just make it so that various difficulty levels complicate the game further. Say, start with easy being current stock game, maybe with added KER, medium being realism overhaul kerbol 6.4x (or 3.2x) and hard, or very hard being Full RSS + RO.

Another vote for MS Security essentials. Combined with adblock and ghostery works nice

@Captain Sierra I'm not so sure that you'd break apart. Isn't the point of the warping drive to make an accordion like bends in front and behind the ship so that you don't need the incredible ISP otherwise needed for some silly velocities? Relatively to the bubble you're in, you might as well not move. Wouldn't that mean that anything that actually goes through the bubble to your ship would already be slowed down by the bubble itself?

@SciMan I like the idea of enriching your fuel just before inserting it into the "combustion chamber" but, that's all well and good once you have the thing running. How do you start it in the first place? Even if you really can enrich it enough with your idea for it to have merit, and I don't know the answer to that.

I guess everyone wanted to see just the launch, not to listen to the entire talk before... damn I'm dissapointed, really wanted to see the launch :'( Edit: Anyone wanna bet it's gonna cut off again at engine restart?

I changed computers recently. On my old AMD X2 240 CPU, with 3 GB RAM Win7 x86 and GT210 GPU, OpenGL did save a lot of RAM. On my new FM2 CPU with integrated 7480D GPU in CPU, absolutely nothing changes in RAM usage when I swap to OpenGL Just to inform folks

It's my birthday, of borg. started as my email address sometimes in 2003 or 4, when I made gmail acc. Other than that, I go by Zygot sometimes, IRL. (Master of Orion 1 is to blame. When we first started playing it, I grabbed psilons, computer offered that, and since my brothers and some friends were there, it stuck)

Or, to continue on the FirstSecondThird's train of thoughts, you can try Malwarebytes, it's not really an antivirus program, but it can help, a lot, in my experience. Tho, to be honest, if there aren't any errors being reported, and it just shuts down as if someone unplugged the power cable, I very much doubt that it's a software issue. As people said above, first guess would be overheating (thermal paste on CPU can actually "dissapear" after some time - I guess it melts and goes away or something..) Also, PSU, HDD, RAM overheating?

You can't use O2, it's corrosive when hot. It'd wreck the engine.

How do you fight Lander Tipping Disorder (LTD)?
11of10 replied to Vallius's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
I'll just drop this here... my first successfull munar lander -
I think it's stated in the engine description if it's pressure fed. Try checking the lunar lander engine (I think it's the old LV-909)

Is KSP the greatest video game ever made?
11of10 replied to sedativechunk's topic in KSP1 Discussion
It's a niche game... I barely managed to get a few of my friends to play it... of 3 of them, only one was persistant enough to land a Kerbal on the Mun and return him safely to the Kerbin. Other two found it hillariously entertaining to seek new ways of exploding stuff. None of them (to the best of my knowledge) play anymore. Now, for me, it's next best thing to a dream come true (dream being that humanity followed on with interrest in space exploration after Apollo era) It's the first time in, probably last 10 years that I have laboured to improve my computer, instead of just replacing it when it breaks. Just so I could play KSP with RSS, and RO mods, without every a little bigger rocket crashing my game. I learned a lot about orbital mechanics while playing it, and I've been space happy since about 4th year of age (thanks Mom!) and knew a lot about space exploration before I ever heard of KSP. The entire thing is made of beauty and grandour. An original idea, made with obvious personal enthusiasm, not just grinded in some office building. I'm actually a little speechless :-) Anyway, WAY TO GO SQUAD! Edit: also, I'm very lonely when I'm on my KSP binge (which is now, with the recently clobbered together computer I mentioned up there) since I really have nobody to talk to about it. Which sucks big time. -
I'll just go with saying that you try to avoid any phone that has less than 1GB RAM, as newer versions of Android OS tend to choke on less when you add software. And, no matter that you say that you will only be using one program, with smartphones, it tends to go further. Oh, just one more... Soon, you find yourself with a bunch of software active in your RAM. I think Elthy has it nailed tho, with Moto G and Lollypop.

You might try clipping them inside the booster, perhaps? That's what I like to do, to keep them prettier.

Rocket engine ISP as thrust.
11of10 replied to sal_vager's topic in KSP1 Suggestions & Development Discussion
A bit of a side question, perhaps, but: I think I picked up somewhere that rocket engines optimised for atmospheric work (IE: F-1) tend to malfunction/explode in vacuum? Doesn't make much sense considering that first stage of Saturn went high up and kept working, but can someone say something about this? -
@ZetaX 11Hz actually. Anyway, power grid is 50/60Hz, depending if you're in US or EU, so still not really in sync with braaaaainz!. Now, on topic: I sleep with my computer permanently online currently about 30cm from my head, and WiFi router that's about a meter from it. I actually sleep better since I moved the bed to that part of the room, because I don't have the privilege of noticing first rays of sunshine in the east blasting directly at my eyelids at 4AM. So, I'm guessing it doesn't really affect us.

I'm not sure, but I think you can actually already lock the staging.
