I find your answer great, but would like to point out that ScanSat scanning also continues unattended. So it's not just an unfun bit you timewarp your way past, but a time where you might do some other stuff (involving some eventual timewarps) and come back to find the planet scanned.

Has Max ever succesfully landed anything in this game? From what I've seen, it seems his fingers smash the whole keyboard at once whenever he tries something that needs precision.

Yeah, science mode came out and I was REALLY into it. I never went back to sandbox since, and now I look back and I just can't figure why. The grindfest, just so pointless.

I share the OP's feeling. I still love the game, sometimes I load it just to see some of my favourite ships floating around and listen to SPACEWHALES while I do something else, but I've also lost some of the novelty of trying something different (a feeling along the lines of "It's farther away, but it's just the same thing"). I installed RO and Engine Igniter (plus some utility and eye candy ones - you should add 6s Tubes to the recommended!) last night; may try it out today. - - - Updated - - - BTW, I think Regolith came installed with RO (or was suggested by it). I'll look into that.
