  1. True for when the orbit itself is the contract; I believe the OP wants to rendezvous with another ship, in which case you can't tell which direction the target ship is orbiting at a glance.
  2. Dude, it's not. My gas meter is broken. I fill my tank when I've driven around 500km because I know that's how much it can handle, plus a safe margin. It is not rocket science to know how long your fuel is worth for. And yes, I know I should fix my gas meter. I should in fact get a new car 'cause it's falling apart, but that's a whole other story. Now, the way I see it, of all the reasons not to have a DV indicator, the prize for dumbest just has to go to "we couldn't figure a nice UI for it". Like... really? You know, where it says "Parts: x, Mass: y", in the engineer's report? Pro tip: "DV: z" just below it will not break your UI. - - - Updated - - - Heh, didn't read that before I posted. I'm driving like that for quite a while. It's bad, am I'm not proud of it. As above. Your logic and argument make absolutely no sente so me, too. A car may be a poor analogy for a rocket, but a number is a number is a number. What's that number by the manouver? Delta V needed. How much do I have? Not telling you. Giving players a new way to fail to account for all the ways RL rockets fail and KSP rockets don't? Well, how about this: RL rockets are made by teams of top-notch engineers with hundreds of millions of dollars and decades of research. KSP rockets are built by dudes and dudettes in their spare time. Some of whom are in school. And they just want to play a game.
  3. Thomton just died on the launchpad because of this. SQUAD, this madness must stop! How many Kerbals must perish in the name of... eh, I don't even know why.
  4. I'm having this with the inline batteries, when stacked to each other, both the small and large ones. Do we have a new kind of Kraken here? A Dragon Kraken? A... Draken?
  5. Time to learn the greatest secret of all time: Jeb can go out and push It's boring when it's too much DV, but totally doable as a last resource. EVA fuel is infinite if you reenter the pod to refuel
  6. I'm probably turn off Steam auto-updates and rever to my 0.90 savegame until some indefinite time in the future when the changes don't force me to start over every time. My career was progressing fine there, all my favourite mods worked, and I've never touched stock aero in quite sometime so it makes no difference to me. Is nuFar 1.0.x only?
  7. Following this thread, this looks promising.
  8. Seems to me the atmo effects are related to breaking the speed barrier, while atmo efficiency is related to current vs. terminal velocity. Those things might be related, but are not interchangeable; with changed parameters in 1.0.4 it's possible terminal velocity has gone up, while mach 1 stays the same, so that when you see the effects there's still a lot more to get to terminal velocity, as opposed to before.
  9. I'm having the both the small and large inline batteries explode in my ships due to overheating, in random times during the mission. Ugh. Waiting for 1.0.5, I guess?
  10. Engines are not the only thing that can't activate, science parts can't either. I understand some experiments seem like they need exposure, but that's more roleplay than anything, in my opinion.
  11. (my emphasis) Also my thoughts. People complain a lot about unrealistic things in this game, but at its core this is one of the most realistic games I've ever played in 20 years, and I love that.
  12. Really, the girder segment is the killer. It doesn't even have any volume. - - - Updated - - - On topic, I think the abstraction of cooling tubes, just like RCS tubes, really okay. Makes placement more flexible. But if someone wants to go hardcore, is it hard to mod so that you drain heat from what's closer?
  13. Yeah, that's a new feature indeed. Haven't tried it yet, tho.
  14. Why was this thread rated one star? It's not a great thread, but I don't see anything wrong with it. Anyway, I actually got interested by the idea. It's not my idea of "KSP spirit", but sounds to play with once in a while, as an endgame thing.
  15. This. Even pictures from other games or, you know, real life...
  16. If you've played less than 40 times, yeah, but if you've amassed hundreds of hours like me and so many others in this forum... But yeah, I enjoy seeing that sand castle every time.
  17. Oh no dude, I send probes whenever I can, put safety contingencies, and suffer every little green death. But I totally agree with both your feelings. Brazilian TV also suffers from this. So glad I haven't watched it in years. As for the original topic... I just don't care. It's not like it's not language you'll see everywhere else anyway, and if someone knows how to look for and find this stuff, well, they found it, right? Besides, when the day comes that me and my wife have a kid, I'd rather have him/her speaking foul language than being a perfectly politically correct homophobic, or any one of many other deplorable but socially accepted types I see every day at work and on the streets. People can be horrible to each other and yet it's "perfectly fine" as long as it's within the norms.
  18. Sounds nice to me. I thought there was one more stock orbital scanner, but having one at tier 5 instead of a 4 and a 6 seems like a good enough compromise; or maybe, if you go the MechJeb way, have the part unlock at tier 4, but the actual modules be gradually unlocked? I don't know how Sarbian did it, but it could be interesting. I didn't even know there was a ground scanner for the BTDT, that's great!
  19. Request: can you implement a "favourite" flag, or a personal note we can add to mods? I frequently uninstall many mods to figure out which one is borking my install, and then I have to chase them all back. Keeping a spreadsheet of what I have installed is not fun. - - - Updated - - - Oh, you just updated and have an export feature! Didn't see that, sorry. So i can keep track of them now, but a 'favourite' flag would still be much appreciated ^^
  20. CKAN has the one problem that if you somehow lose a file from a mod, it willl never know and fix that for you, so you have to uninstall and reinstall the mod. Other than that, I love it. - - - Updated - - - Oh, another nitpick: you can't flag a mod as "favourite" or anything like that, so if you uninstall one for debugging purposes, you have to keep track of it yourself.
  21. g @ Kerbin ASL = 9.81m/s² as in Earth, radius is 600km (or is that the diameter? damn). So G*kerbin mass= 9.81*600² (or 300²...), from there you can calculate at any height - - - Updated - - - Also, the Gravioli Detector is a stock part that measures it
  22. Do you suppose ScanSat can be included in this mod? I haven't been far enough in my career to unlock the resource scanners, but from reading the release notes I got the impression there are enough different orbital scanners to fill the low res scanner -> biome+annomaly+resources scanner -> high res scanner progression.
  23. Also agreed. There's a mod for thatâ„¢, sure, but isn't it just easy to implement, and not infuriate so many players over something so simple? http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/124031 link for the interested. Hell, they even featured it on Modding Monday, they know that's the way we want fairings...
