  1. I just hope it comes with drivers that support openGL on KSP, as opposed to my Windows8 OEM.
  2. You still have to click "exec node" on the flight computer, and what they're discussing is having it execute simply because it's there, which I endorse, too. I like RT as it is from a gameplay perspective; I understand it's unrealistic, but I like it. I don't have many opinions on the stock mechanics yet, I'll do my best to refrain from forming them until I actually play it. It does seem nice, tho. I like the DSN idea. I'd still like a flight computer, even if simplified. I'd like additive ranges and dish cones. Maybe the RT group uses the stock as foundation and builds just those bits on top of it, plus signal delay (which I'm not too fond of personally).
  3. A way to queue commands with delay would be nice too, so we can stow antennas prior to a reentry and have them deploy again after a set time. But I agree a full blown flight computer is not needed for the stock implementation. RT is for more harcore players, I think. The flight computer fits right in it. - - - Updated - - - Oh, and I have a question about RT: is it currently possible to tell it to exec all future maneuver nodes, instead of just the next one? Can it be implemented?
  4. That's a stock bug, which will not be fixed until 1.1 appearently. It happens with less frequency on stock, and some mods can help make it more frequent: FAR, since it recalculates part area, and this, because in stock the bug appears mostly during/exiting timewarp.
  5. MJ was mentioned. Not only it executes maneuvers when RCS is the only available option, but it also lets you use the throttle control to translate forward in the same conditions.
  6. Do you use CKAN? I've seen many modders saying that they won't support CKAN installs, and only recently I've discovered why: it does not do a great job at cleaning a previous version of a mod when it updates. So, files which don't exist from one version of another, of which were moved from one folder to another on version change, may still linger in your install if you update from CKAN, and these old files may end up raising all kinds of hell in your install.
  7. Ferram, you're among the top modders I've seen, and not only in mod quality. I've been reading the past pages just for the kicks, and it's amazing the time you take to answer each question, even when it's the same question over and over. I'm obviously mad that FAR exacerbates a stock bug, but I'm not giving up on it. It's a hell of a mod, even with the new stock aero. I've only just found out why exactly many modders don't offer support for CKAN installs; a pity, but justifiable. I still use CKAN for its practicity, but at least I know when I'm not getting support, why, and what to do about it (also something I've learned from you). So, no request, just thanks! I hope you don't ever lose your patience and stop modding, this is serious quality work, with effort put into. Peace. P.S.: I see your sig still has a link to NEAR. Is there a point to it now?
  8. Isn't this the RT topic? Why isn't this discussion being held in the blog post about the stock feature? Anyway, is RT planning on replacing this stock mechanic, or using it as a base? I love this mod, it's one of the first mods I used. However, I'm a big fan of not needing a mod when stock takes care of functionality (you guys will always have my credit, still. Cilph and Nathankell are the names I remember, but the whole team deserves many thanks), and I like some mechanics simplier than others. I liked the idea of ISRU, but only actually used it on the stock iteration (the "dumbed down version", as some negatively put it). Because of that, I'm still undecided whether I like the idea of the new stock feature or not. Can we have some words on what the RT team is planning to do with this? Did you get caught completely by surprise and are still wondering about it?
  9. I think so; however, in my opinion, if the second crowd is all about the challenge, then by all means make challenges! We have a challenge subforum here, and challenges, unlike KSP itself, have actual rules. Breaking them is cheaty. Adjusting a slider on a customization menu (as opposed to, say, a cheat menu like many games feature) is not cheaty, it's customizing. The game doesn't mention any rules. There are just physical laws, but even those are more like guidelines when the game opens up for modding (lo-grav dual berettas 1 on 1 duels on Counter Strike back in the time, anyone? That was just a console command!).
  10. Oh no this aint going positive again. -2.
  11. Ha ha, best topic in a while. I think I'm gonna join the "no timewarp EVER" mentality. The way I play my game, I can count how many times I've left Kerbin SOI in 700h of game. This will probably bring the count down even more.
  12. Unreasonably Long (tm Starwhip), around 60 mods on a budget laptop. Couldn't get OpenGL to work for my life, can't find possible updated drivers for my video card either.
  13. Holy crap I just dropped what I was holding
  14. Is the press conference happening right now? NASA site hasn't updated New Horizons in a while. You guys are pretty silent too. I'm at work, you're my eyes and ears!
  15. When I was in that position, I started just playing around building things instead of exploring. Haven't gone back to exploring yet Duna sits there waiting.
  16. Honestly, what's the point of making a thread to "not discuss" a specific topic? There's already a thread about Rosetta and Philae going on, and you could have easily opened one about the ISS or about the Van Allen belts, instead of not about New Horizons. And the Van Allen zebra stripes are old news.
  17. Right click and drag, I suppose?
  18. https://eyes.nasa.gov/dsn/dsn.html shows the downlink to be offline for some time already. Some planned downtime, maybe? I expected it to download pictures for a long time.
  19. I've always found the spacebar good enough for that. Leave the setting at free rotate, whenever you need orientation just hit spacebar.
  20. Meu firewall do trabalho bloqueia absolutamente tudo (exceto esse fórum...?), eu tô acompanhando a jornada pelo tópico no Science Labs. Momentos emocionantes :~
  21. It's one of the few mod parts I use, actually. I always prefer part-free mods, and when I install things like RT, KER, MJ and even life support I look for configs to add those functionality to pods and such. Docking ports could be modded to count as cameras too, right? I know they show as such on the docking screen, when you select one as reference point for the ship, but AFAIK you can't select it by camera ID.
  22. That's not even the first time I've read that today
  23. I almost did the same yesterday, when he pointed me out in the direction of that config file. It's the equivalent of twisting your heel after stepping on a spider. Make sure the damned thing is dead and stays dead.
  24. Whoa, this thread grew considerably fast. As for this advice, not only do I endorse it, I can testify it works as a MM patch file, too. I'll post the exact contents when i get home from work, but it's just a couple lines.
