[1.1.X/1.2.2] Malah's Stock configs [2017.01.14]
monstah replied to Malah's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
Confirmed, on a fresh install with only RT and Stock RT. Here's the setup: A probe core as root, an empty pod under it (and a DP-10 when not using Stock RT). It works perfectly on both occasions; Same setup, but the root is the empty pod: controllable with RT, uncontrollable with Stock RT (even with the DP-10): the light shows green, but clicking on any action gives you the "no connection" message. Work around: edit the .cfg, add a "#minimumCrew[0]" check when adding moduleSPU. Pods don't have the flight computer anymore, but the RT controllability check passes. It seems like a bug in the RT code: root has SPU, but can't be controlled due to lack of minimum crew, therefore ship can't be controlled regardless of presence of other perfectly fine SPU parts on the same ship. - - - Updated - - - No useful logs to post, given nature of problem: I'm not generating any exceptions or anything, I simply have no control on the ship.- 83 replies

[0.25] 6S Service Compartment Tubes - "Design smooth!"
monstah replied to nothke's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I've loved this mod for quite some time. Know what would make me love even more? Procedural tubes. Length/Diameter/Door tweakables, and voliá. -
You mean, stuff for modders, right? As a player, it does nothing to me? - - - Updated - - - I always hoped it would like, tell me "Ship XXX on save ZZZ will be destroyed because part YYY wasn't found"

Okay. Now... what does it DO?

I have seen the button, and don't have B9. Maybe it's one of its dependencies?

[1.1.X/1.2.2] Malah's Stock configs [2017.01.14]
monstah replied to Malah's topic in KSP1 Mod Releases
I'm having some trouble with this: say I have an empty pod as root, and an Octo2 attached to it. With StockRT installed, it has no command. The signal icon shows green, but I can't control it. Not sure if it's a bug with RT or the MM implementation.- 83 replies

how do you show your action groups in flight
monstah replied to labtopia's topic in KSP1 Gameplay Questions and Tutorials
Action Group Manager does it, too, tho I haven't used it in a while - - - Updated - - - Ditto for the standards. 1 always deploys antennae/panels/lights. 2 is is always GATHER ALL SCIENCE! -
Hi folks. I once played around BTSM, and liked some things very much. Some of its features weren't to my liking, tho, so I decided making some .cfgs of my own, inspired by said nice mod. One thing I liked in principle, but not implementation, were probe reports: The way it is, if I send a probe and later a Kerbal, the Kerbal will still have have an entire experiment's worth of SCIENCE! when it does its own report; the way I envision, a probe report is the same experiment as a Kerbal's screwup report, but limited to, say, 30% it's SCIENCE! value (still 100% transmittable!), and if a Kerbal screws up makes a report on the same location, there's only 70% of it left. Is it possible? I have only found SCIENCE definitions on the cfg pertaining to experiments, not parts...

Should SQUAD post all KSP announcements on the official forum?
monstah replied to Yakuzi's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I was writing a long update to my post but I just lost it... long story short: I don't care for Reddit, Facebook, Digg or whatever new crap someone comes up with. They will all be replaced by something else which is actually the same thing, only forcing people to keep creating new accounts on whatever new cool community there is just to keep up with whatever opinions people could just as easily publish on their own blogs or... say.. "OFFICIAL FORUMS"? I'm very offended by this. It may be open to interpretation, but to me it seems very, very, clear that, as said a couples post above, we see ourselves as the KSP community, but to SQUAD it is Reddit instead. - - - Updated - - - While that is true... wouldn't they just as easily end up on Reddit when players who keep up the Official Forum post it there? -
"Berkal Place Explogram".

Should SQUAD post all KSP announcements on the official forum?

KSP has had it's spout of nuclear fusion, and will now forever burn as a brown dwarf.

http://www.universetoday.com/118795/an-even-closer-view-of-ceres-shows-multiple-white-spots-now/ Multiple spots! Multiple spots! - - - Updated - - - I'm also reminded of the depressions on Chucky-Gerry, which are not formed from impacts but from ice sublimating beneath dust, and the dust then settling down smoothly. On the comet, the process is kinda gentle and the "craters" are dusty and smooth-rimmed, but if something similar happens on DresCeres, exposing some bedrock of some kind... Now... where's my Ship of Imagination? - - - Updated - - - Holy crap check that pretty central-peaked crater which crosses the terminator near the south pole in the beginning of the GIF loop!

Most times when "false color" is mentioned in astrophotography, it's not the same kind as when you process a B&W picture with a color gradient (think heat cameras, where blue is colder and red is warmer - in truth, it is a single infrared color, colorized so brighter is red and darker is blue). Rather, it usually means "some true color your eye can't perceive", as in pictures taken in two different infrared frequencies, one assigned red and the other green in post-production. So, I'd say those Ceres pics do show actual color variation on the surface, even if it looks grey to our squisky fleshy eyes.

Would orbital mechanics work at human scales?
monstah replied to Draconiator's topic in Science & Spaceflight
Eh. Sure about those units? Feels like orders of magnitude wrong! I did the math and got 28.5 x10^4 seconds, which is... eh, never mind, just about little less than thrice as yours. Science just keeps surprising me. You did, however, use the radius where you should have used semi-major axis, which would be diameter for a circular orbit. BRAINFART. Your math is correct, sir. edit again: LOL, just realized how many people are questioning your numbers. Science IS surprising, people! -
[PLEASE ANSWER] Is there aliens in Ksp Or A Mod that adds them?
monstah replied to LucaBunny77's topic in KSP1 Discussion
I suppose you could also add alien ruins around other planets (using, say, the mod which powers Kerbin Side - forgot the name), but I seriously doubt anyone will ever mod something that will add ALIVE aliens, as in with an AI playing a ship or something like that. -
I don't look much at Ap and Pe when synchronizing satellites; rather I use orbital period (available from Engineer Redux, probably MechJeb too). Use RCS with trim on to get the orbital period to match as close as possible (I can get it to a tenth of a second or less with no autopilot of any sort, just tap the prograde/retrograde translation keys gently). If the orbital period is the same (and no Pe is inside atmosphere...) you mostly don't have to worry about aligning the other orbital elements perfectly, but if you want you can circularize by translating radially (i.e., "up" and "down") when the orbits cross (not like you would normally circularize, by burning tangentially on Ap/Pe), and align inclinations like you would otherwise do. As long as you don't burn prog/retro anymore, your periods will remain in sync as you adjust the orbits.

Holy crap that's genius.

[PLEASE ANSWER] Is there aliens in Ksp Or A Mod that adds them?
monstah replied to LucaBunny77's topic in KSP1 Discussion
lol @ succint answer. Anyway, no, not that I know of. Definetely not in stock (unless you count a certain easter egg... but even that is probably not what you want). Also, what is [PLEASE ANSWER] supposed to do? Aren't all questions meant to be answered?
