Well I had this 2.5metre rocket that kept failing to put a 27payload into orbit (first one of the engenes in the second stage cluster had no fuel-I fix that and then the payload spazes out in the middle of the gravity turn) So it got some RELALLY BIG boosters

It was a 1d 2h (8h) burn. Using Time Control I got 4x to start with and 12x at the end while burning, so it took about an hour real time.

Just in case anyone cares...I made a few little tweaklettes and this craft is now at 60kdV on the pad. Flew it to Jool orbit on a ballistic orbit in 45 days, reaching 0.02% the speed of light.

I myself have never really experienced this problem. Since very early on in my career, I would build standard launch vehicles and make my payloads fill the vehicles.
