Mister Dilsby
Users cannot delete visitor messages posted to their profiles.Seems strange, that--sort of the online equivalent of being able to graffiti a tattoo on someone else's body. Might be nice if we could at least hide them--the visitor messages, I mean. Your tattoos are your own problem.ETA: and somehow THIS is my 1,000th post. Darn it, I wanted it to be a comic!ETA2: Looks like you can restrict visitor messages to "friends" in Profile Preferences, so at least that's something. VR_Dev
I'm sure this has been asked, but why can't we embed gfy's yet?
Sampa
Ok, first of all, i understand the rule against rps. Is it against the rules if i transcribe and adapt an existing rp (one that my friends and i are doing) into a normal story?

Is it against the rules if i transcribe and adapt an existing rp (one that my friends and i are doing) into a normal story?Should be fine, the problem with RP is the argument and fighting that occurs when some players take it too seriously and it gets out of hand, unfortunately that seems quite common when warfare is involved. If no one is participating (or participation has ended) then it should work as a story. Sampa
Ok, a little bit of infighting did occur, but enough of the story survived that I feel that I could PROBABLY turn it into a full story by just taking the lines. Thanks for getting back to me!
sal_vager
Just make sure the story doesn't cause any of the guys involved to go off the rails over details.

So, people would be all "you torpedoed my aweseome battleship you fithy cheater to the death!" Wow, I guess I need to peek out of my Kerbfleet pacifist bubble once in a while Regarding reaction images: I posted something earlier today that a kind fellow member warned me could be considered one, so I added text to it to make sure the post was in the clear. The interesting thing is that I had make a textual response--I just embedded that text in a speech balloon and put it on an image of Captain Sulu. So--would I have been OK? I.e., is the rule meant to prevent image-only posts in general, or image-only posts where the poster has not added any original content? (And I realize that if I do my job well enough you might not be able to tell the difference--so yes I will be sure to follow the letter and the spirit of the rule in any case )

Alphasus
It didn't work. Also, what is the hardest thing for mods to do when discussing if a thread should be closed or not?

DuoDex
Oh, looks like HTML is disabled by default. Oops.Stand by.*glances around embarrassedly*I forgot I was a mod for a moment there.Word up on gifv, gfy, and webm support - no, we don't have it yet but it's not impossible and I'm trying to test it. I cannot guarantee it will happen, and expect forum downtime from my tests. Edited August 18, 2015 by DuoDex

DuoDex
HTML appears to be disabled by default in most areas of the forums due to the potential for...misuse.
Vanamonde
Also, what is the hardest thing for mods to do when discussing if a thread should be closed or not?We look at it and ask ourselves and each other how bad it is, and if it seems like it might be salvaged. Contrary to the accusations we get hit with, we really do not like and do not want to stop people from talking about the things they're interested in. None of us enjoy doing it, but if it's bad and doesn't look like it will get better, we shut it down to avoid having to hit the people in it with infractions. Columbia
How do you feel about the way users react to infractions? Are they often annoyed, or feel repentant, etc.?
Vanamonde
Never can tell. As a rough estimate, I'd say 30% apologize nicely, 5% flame you, 10% try to argue that you were wrong for issuing the infraction, and the rest just accept it in silence. Thanks! Are moderators assigned to be always online on the forum at different times, so the forum is moderated 24/7? Or are there times that no moderator is online? I noticed that there's always at least one on.
