Does anyone have any additional insight / suggestions for Atlas? It's less flip happy with Centaur if I remember.

I usually use the Advanced SAS on top of the Muo tank that tapers to 1.25m, even with all the different upper stages from Able to Centuar I don't have any problems. Of course I always use the single direction stock RCS thrusters to help things along too. Otherwise some small winglets do the trick for me with your Atlas. I don't think it's the mod, I think it's Kerbal itself since Beale's rockets have the same flipping problem, but I never notice the problem because I correct it with winglets, RCS, and SAS.

I'll post pics if interested. Or even video.

Spy Kids mother-effin 2. In the middle of that awful movie Steve Buscemi delivers one of the best lines ever put on film.

@davidy12 that means I'd have to have a centaur avionics+fairing base, AND make another new 1.875m plain fairing base.

@CobaltWolf: WHY?!?!? Why can't we see under the shroud on the Redstone???

its a model rocket! it came back in 1 piece too :D .

Heh... That one in the video was the one the teacher made. My groups went the highest out of all of the ones launched that day, and our parachute came out no problem, but we landed kinda hard. A piece of one of the fins came off completely.

So no, MY rocket came down in 2. :P

oh! well, for the highest launched, it seemed too have had the hardest fall :P unless someone elses split into 3 parts, or more.

One landed in the roof, in two pieces. It sepersted in the air. Another one lost three of its fins on landing but was otherwise fine. The worst one, whenever the engine did the little retro poof to deploy the parachute, the parachute cord separated from the nose cone and the rocket itself. It landed hard behind the school, and wasn't recovered. :P

Sorry, but I just want to see the clusters :D

Well, they're clusters... So, uh, yeah. I suppose the point of those pictures was more to show off the different variants that were possible with the new redstone tanks. You can build a pretty decent Redstone missile analogue by attaching the Juno IVA tank and clipping 4 of the control surfaces in. Not sure what you'd ever use it for. I think Redstone-Sparta was closer to the Juno 1 / Jupiter C than it was to the actual missile in terms up the upper structure.

Eh, heck with it. I've uploaded a zip to my dropbox. I would have used GitHub but I still haven't had time to figure it all out. This doesn't even count as a dev release. I don't want bug reports, since nothing in this zip is finished. But if you were curious what direction things were headed in, well, there. It's easier than trying to take more screenshots. Nothing is balanced, none of the textures are finished (like actually - everything new needs another texture pass), half the stuff isn't even in game. But if you want, download it, take a look, then delete it since it isn't worth playing with.

Also, completely unrelated but I noticed that you can make the Delta 2 Lite now. It's basically a Delta 7000 with the first stage liquid tank and engine replaced with two Castor 120s in an Athena 2 configuration.

@CobaltWolf: You forgot radial attach for redstone tanks.

Good thing I told you it was a) broken and b) shouldn't be played with. I just figured I'd let everyone open up the VAB and look at everything since I haven't been posting a ton of screenshots.

EDIT: Plus any sort of Saturn 1 first stage you make wouldn't actually work right since the scaling would be off.

I'm struggling to build a Juno II...

Can someone help me or provide a diagram (plus I think I'm building it wrong but the upper stage engine fairings don't attach)

Don't try and build one yet? :P I think posting that was a mistake.
