@Geschosskopf: Are sandboxes similarly affected? Do we have screen capture images of what these new stations look like?

Yup, sandbox is the same as career for random placement of green monoliths and spawning of extra communications dishes on Kerbin.

I was just exploring an unknown anomaly on Kerbin, hoping it was another green meanie monolith, but found this instead:

Yup, that's one of the communications dishes.  Most seem to be on hilltops like that.  They're huge, too, way bigger than the dishes at the tracking station.  They seem at least as tall as the SPH.   You can see them from miiles away and they utterly dwarf Kerbals standing next to them.  Despite this, they track around very quickly---impressive motors in them :)

Still, they look a bit lonely, just the dish with no infrastructure buildings around it.  If I was ever going to include them in a story, I'd use Kerbal Konstructs to flesh them out a bit.  You know, a shack or 2 for some poor interns to be exiled to :D

Can't wait for the next chapter I am on the edge of my seat need to know the rest.

It won't be long, I promise. I already have half the screenshots I need, and I'm hoping to get the rest tomorrow. Then I need to have some fun with Photoshop, so I'm thinking the next chapter will be sometime Saturday.

I'm really excited about this next chapter.... It's going to be a lot of fun, and I'm pretty sure it's not what y'all are expecting...  :sticktongue:

Yeah... you were in a weird mood that day... :D

Actually, I figured your character would be the most sensitive to the wrongness pouring out of the Green Meanie

I'll go with that.  The "green meanie" Monoliths are rated "PG-Older-Than-The-Preternatural-Twins" and I'm more expendable than Cap'n Sparrow Kuz.

I'm reminded of a line from Serenity, "Shepard Book used to say: If you can't do something smart, do something right."  :)

have a serious question... Are green meanies and blue meanies (think the Beatles "yellow submarine" movie) related?

Oh, ok...not even in the same dictionary page as serious! :D

Not sure. I stole borrowed the name from @Geschosskopf. I think he's the one that came up with it first.

And knowing him, I'm guessing the name isn't just a coincidence...   :)

He Jim do you put the name of some of your fans in your stories because that would be cool and an interesting way to get more names for more characters.

More as a thank you, actually. I have three of these characters, based on forum members @Kuzzter @Geschosskopf and @Parkaboy. I did it because of how much they encouraged and helped me at the very beginning to get Emiko Station going. But after a while I got so many readers and followers I had to stop... there were just too many to choose from.

All of the rest, with the exception of Emiko, are game generated names.

Well I can imagine that you would have a lot of fans to name, you know, being Just Jim of all people

Really? Emiko seems like a very game-generated name.

While "Emiko" can (and has) appear in the generator, this was not from whence Emiko came.

Oh wow... I was just joking around lolol

In my case, Emiko was named after the fictional character Emiko Yamane, from the first Godzilla movie, played by actress Momoko Kochi.
To do it I changed her name in the persistent file right before I hired her.

But I've had a couple people say they had an Emiko show up in their game, so apparently it's also in the generator. Now there are also supposed to be sci-fi character names in the generator like Luke and Leia, so I honestly don't know one way or the other if she was added because of me, or (more likely) if someone on @SQUAD is also a big Godzilla fan, and she's been there all along.

The last batch of hired victims Kerbals I had came with Doodemone...  Now how cool is that name... I can already hear the conversations... "It's dude, 'ey, man!" but with a Jamaican accent!

@Just Jim: Thanks for the "behind the scenes" posts such as the one above. It's actually inspiring to know that there are others that will simply use whatever names the game throws at them.

Oh, I love the name generator! :)

Right now I have 40 Kerbals hired and in the the story, but I still check to see who's available every now and then, just in case there's a really good one I can't pass up.

...of all people???  I have to be honest, it's a little hard wrapping my brain around that, or the idea of having fans. I mean it's fun and really flattering, but I'm no-one special, and about as average as you can imagine. Trust me, if we were at a party, I'd be one of the people in a corner no-one really notices. So it feel's a little weird sometimes thinking I have actual fans. But at the same time, I also get all warm and fuzzy knowing so many people are apparently enjoying themselves.  :)

LOL, your Jamaican rendition is more palatable than mine.  I've lived in Lousy Anna's Armpit so long I now automatically divide syllables by French rules, so I have the 1st syllable ending with the double "o".  Thus, my immediate mental image was of the Golgothan, a minor boss adversary encountered by the protagonists about 1/2-way through the movie "Dogma" :D

I have until quite recently only used game-generated names.  However, when KSP started including more human names than the Original Three Four, I started changing them to something more Kerbal.  If I wanted human names, I'd play Human Space Program.

As I understand things, the name files have lists of names.  Sometimes you get one of them directly off the list.  At other times, the name generator takes random syllables from 1 name and combines that with random syllables from another name.

Well, the word "just" has various meanings.  "Just Jim" could mean "Jim the Just" just as easily as it could mean "Merely Jim".  If you go with the former, then it's a nickname for James the Just, who was an extraordinary guy in extraordinary times, regardless of which side of the dogmatic debate you're on.  So yea, "of ALL people" is quite fitting for you :)

And thanks for providing a way to circularize my post

Oh yes, you have a hella lotta fans. Fun fact: When I came on here, I heard the name 'Just Jim' on a post made by I think either Draconiator or someone else... Anyways, as soon as I heard the name, I knew 'Dang... This guy is like a KSP GOD! (Sorta like Scott Manley or something) and I knew I had to find a way to know him! And here I am now, about 4 months later, talking to the man, the myth, the legend himself.

You are probably the most powerful person on the entire forums! (Besides the Squad staff of course (Don't smite me :0.0:)) and yes, it may be hard to wrap around it now, but trust me: You'll learn about how epic you are soon enough
