How about not making me quit FIVE (5) times?

Recommended Posts

Getting out of KSP is an endeavor (not least because it's hard to stop playing, but even after I muster up the determination to do that, it's a long hike and those who aren't truly dedicated to the task may lose their will along the way).  First, I have to "quit" the rocket I'm flying and go back to the KSC. Then I have to "quit" to the main menu. Then I have to "quit" back to the top menu.  Then I finally get an option that says "quit".  But wait!  I'm not done!  I then have to confirm that I really want to quit, because apparently the multiple things I've done just to reach that point aren't sufficient evidence that yes, I really am trying to get back to my desktop.

Is there any possibility at all we can get a "quit to desktop" option from anywhere in the game?  Maybe with a confirmation dialog in case somebody clicks it by accident... I don't mind TWO actions to quit, but five is ridiculous.

Yup, quit to desktop would be nice...
ESC > Quit to Desktop > "Are you sure?": Yes

Meanwhile, I just save and ALT+F4... If I have to wait 3 hours for the game to load (too many mods :D ), I won't wait for the game to quit :sticktongue:

Edit:
Perhaps even a "Save and Quit to Desktop" and a "Quit to Desktop without saving"

I'd love the ability to load into other saves from the Space Center window too, while we're at it. Without having to load the main menu again.

Yes. This is a good suggestion.

A bonus is that it would make using using a sandbox save as a career test facility much easier.

What I do is I click the Windows logo and then I right click my game Windows and I click close window. It has never broken anything yet so I do it all the time.

I can't stand having to jump through hoops and wait for animated menus to load in and settle down just to quit the game. Here's some torture to end off your fun KSP session.

Malah's Quick Mods solved the problem for me.  In addition to adding an Exit button to every screen, it adds buttons to jump to any building from anywhere without having to go back to KSC first.

I would very much like something like this to be in stock.

I thought you did not like something about the game, but I agree with you, there should be a button in midair called "save and exit to the desktop".my ksp goes a little slow between scenes, 4 scenes and quits, a slow routine, especially when I have to go fast.

i give 100% support for this little but useful idea :D

I also support this. In other games I really notice the ability when I decide to quit and then just save and quit to desktop, usually as one option.

I like it a lot.

I would also support having a slider in the options for `menu speed` to be able to speed up the transition between main menu and the load game screen (and back)

Rofled at this topic, very nicely put into words.

It's a bit of a daily irritation where everybody emphasizes with, applied to structure of ksp. We need to confirm our choices a bit too often: Do you really want to download this file?, "yes". It is an .exe, do you really want to run it? "yes". Accept terms and conditions, "yes". Do you want to allow this program to make changes to your harddrive? "yes".... "sigh, how many times do i need to say yes?!! .

Formed by daily society, I'd agree. I think ksp would feel more userfriendly when exiting the game would be made easier. I liked the "exit to desktop" from the ksc screen idea (YargJay9991).

And if something similar will not make it into the game, then I will make it my life's mission to inform ppl of the power of alt+f4 ;)

The only reason I go back to the first menu screen to quit is to see If I can finally see the MunCastle, but I don't even know if it'll even show up when backing out of the game and that's the only time I ever see that Mun scene. I agree it's a bit of a hike back out. Otherwise, from the KSC screen, I just...

Alt-F4 to the rescue :)

That reminds me of the good old days playing StarCraft. Some noob would come on BattleNet, and during a game I'd see them typing cheat codes (only good for single-player) into the chat bar. So I'd tell them that they needed to press Alt-F4 to enable cheats in multiplayer. Next I'd see "Dumbass has left the game" :D. Too bad Blizzard later added a quit confirmation to that trick

Try pressing crtl Alt Delete then opening task manager. Then close task manager. if you play in full screen.

if you have windows 8 press the windows key twice.

If you don't play in Full screen click the - or the cross button.

All these options take you to desktop.
