Looking for new sci-fi/fantasy/action series to watch

Lately I've become extremely bored with what's been on offer these days when it comes to sci-fi/fantasy/action TV series. It's usually either the Nth re-run or complete and utter crap. Game of Thrones: Love it. The Expanse: Great but on a break. Firefly: Best ever. Why oh why did it got cancelled? I am looking for something new and refreshing. Or perhaps even an old classic I've never heard about. At this moment I am pretty much open for every suggestion.

So if you know a good sci-fi, fantasy or action series please let me know. Just don't be offended if I reject your suggestion, I've seen and/or discarded a lot.

Action fantasy; The Flash/Arrow, both DC, and Supernatural (12 seasons btw, you'd be busy), and Grimm.

Science fiction; Have you watched Ascension? I haven't, as I'm too young, but it looks really good. Farscape, Person of interest, and Falling skies.

That's all I've got :)

The Shanarra Chronicles seems quite good, on hiatus at the moment but the first 10 episodes are out. Classic good vs evil tale. Got that guy from Sliders in it.

Penny dreadful is also really good, great cast, nice dark/gothic kinda theme, mixes together loads of tales (dracula, jekyll+hyde, dr. frankenstein, dorian gray etc. oh and theres a cowboy werewolf and an ex-james bond - and an ex-bond girl too now that I think of it).

Gotham is good if you like batman without the batman.

Space Dandy is 25 episode of hilarious+trippy space anime, its ok to watch this one dubbed, the VO is spot-on.

I assume you've watched all of Rick+Morty already :D (If you havn't, this one goes at the top of your list!)

Archer is one of the best programmes in all of television (but isn't sci-fi or fantasy).

"Its always sunny in philadelphia" isn't sci-fi or fantasy either but is great comedy (watch it if you like The Office).

Dropped The Flash mid season 2, still following Arrow.
Grimm is not really my kind of series.
Ascension. Of course I've seen that one. Instant classic. Too bad it's so short.
Farscape. Seen it years ago, cult classic.
Person of Interest. Same as Grimm. I am not that into police/detective series. On the other hand; iZombie and Minority Report are pretty good to watch.
Falling Skies. Started strong, ended VERY weak. In general a good solid sci-fi.

Shanarra Chronicles. Never heard of it. Looks interesting. :)
Might give Penny Dreadfull a try when I can't find anything else.
Dropped Gotham like a stone during the first season.
I like anime but Space Dandy? No.
Rick & Morty? Hell no! No offence. But I'd rather gouge my eyes and replace them with putrid eggs before watching that.
Archer. I've heard good things about it but there is something 'off' with that animation style.
Sunny in Philadelphia is pretty far from what I am looking for.

Space Dandy I can understand but Rick+Morty?! My world has been turned upside down!

You watching Agents of SHIELD?

Another non-sci-fi-or-fantasy suggestion because its very good is the "Hannibal" series, super good. Not an identical recreation of the books but close enough in spirit, the best way IMO. I think I'm just about out of sci-fi/fantasy examples. Spent a lot of time in the last year re-watching things like Babylon 5 and ST:Voyager.

for sci-fi: Legend of Galactic Heroes (long anime series without any derp), I find it pretty nice in the fact that fleet formations are actually 3-d in space and not just on a flat plane, also, ships tend to be smaller and spread !

Agents of SHIELD got boring after a while just like The Flash.

About Rick & Morty. It might very well be hilarious but it looks like crap. There is more artistic value in a Chimp flinging faeces at the wall. If I wanted to see that I'd go to the zoo.

Despite its age Legend of Galactic Heroes got a pretty solid rating on ANN. Let's put that one in the 'maybe pile'.

something about chimps

So you like a more high-fidelity animation style. Examples that come to mind, but you might have seen some:

Ghost in the Shell (and various sub-series)

Attack on Titan

Samurai Champloo (not really fantasy but samurais are still cool right?)

Berserk

Trigun (possibly too ugly for you, not sure)

Seen it.

To give you an idea what I've seen that's just anime. This is a list I have ready to re-watch whenever I want: http://tex.texel.com/anime/ (Some are absolutely horrible. Others are awesome.)
And that 'little' list has not been updated several years.

Figured you'd probably had seen them all, I was all out of more original ideas.

Dark Matter was pretty good, glad to hear its back soon.

Feel like I've watched some other good stuff in the last year or so but can't quite put my finger on them....

Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles was ok if a bit short

Marvels Agent Carter wasn't bad, less scifi than the rest of thier stuff

Struggling to think what other Scifi I've seen recently

Not scifi, but as a Firefly fan I really enjoyed Nathan Fillion in Castle.

Oldschool scifi - Blakes 7

Not quite as oldschool scifi comedy - Red Dwarf

I enjoyed The Chronicles of Shannara. It's based on a series of books by Terry Brooks, of which I have read many of the older ones. The first 10 episodes of the Chronicles is loosely based on the book The Elfstones of Shannara (one of the best in the bunch, IMO). The names are the same (although some are borrowed from other novels in the series) as is the basic overall plot, but the story is quite different. I was disappointed that some elements of the novel were omitted, but I understand that it would have been difficult and expensive to bring those to the screen. The Shannara Novels.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the 2003 remake of BattleStar Galactica. I though that was an excellent series, dark and gritty. And Number Six was just wowsers. They did try to get a bit more realistic, for while they did have FTL drives, they used bullets, missiles, and RCS, and not a laser to be seen. The old 1978 BSG, inspired by the original Star Wars, didn't have FTL but had lasers everywhere, and was more kid-oriented.

Space Above and Beyond is better than the trailers.  The series started shaky and got better in my opinion.

Earth Final Conflict lets the Roddenberry legacy continue.

Farscape

The original Outer Limits ... and the new ...

The Invaders didn't just come for our water.

Jericho ... where the walls came tumbling down.

Max Headroom ouch!

Seen them all except The Invaders and Max Headroom. Both look very ... vintage.

Cop shows aren't really my kind of show in general. Let's put Death Valley in the maybe pile.
Defiance suffered from the same flaw as Jericho, Threshold, Firefly, Flash Forward, Revolution and many others. It got cancelled WAY too soon.

Anyone heard much about this new "preacher" show? Its getting a lot of hype.

According to IMDB the first ep will air May 22. Ask again next week and somebody might be able to give you an answer.
