Perhaps squad made it more obvious ready for the console users, who might not read so many forums or wikis.

I think it's a blight too but maybe it just needs toning down a bit.

On the subject is there an ingame way to find easter eggs except by luck? I only found two on my own, scansat mapped the rest for me...

Some of them are visible from very low orbits, particularly around airless bodies.

I have had contracts directing me to collect science from around "anomalies" before. Other than that, I think you just have to stumble across them or look them up online.

I like the fact that they are now more visible, partly due to the fact that those that were buried are now on the surface.  I'm pleased that the monoliths are bigger too, though yes, a little bit smaller would not have hurt.

I don't understand the controversy over the resizing.   It was clearly too small before (and half-buried, to boot), and it's most likely there as a clue to say, "Hey, there might be some odd things here and there-- keep an eye open."  I know that I most likely wouldn't have noticed it in its too-small incarnation if someone hadn't told me about it.

There is no controversy. Just humans being humans. Whatever you do someone will mind.

There's nothing to understand. Any change SQUAD makes, no matter how small or irrelevant,  will cause someone to complain.

People have been asking Squad to 'fix' the monoliths, for quite some time now. So Squad fixed them. They're now on the ground instead of below ground. They're not resized bigger or anything, they're just raised up to the surface. They're the same as they've been since I started playing, only more visible now. Those who want to seek out all the monoliths (on Kerbin and elsewhere), I suggest getting SCANsat as it can show you where all the 'anomalies' are.

Arguing posts had to be removed, sorry guys.

All the easter eggs got some love, and it was decided that the monoliths were not grand enough, so they were enlarged.

I'm afraid that assumptions that this was due to consoles is sadly misplaced :)

Yep, just an easter egg. It's always been there, actually, but 1.1.3 made it absurdly large.

Don't think it's always been there... Don't remember it from when I started playing in v0.13, but that was when the 'Launch tower' was a thing *shudders*, it might have just taken up that part of the horizon...

Actually, they have resized them. They've grown nearly 5 times the size they were before. They used to be roughly the size of a kerbal, now, they're absurdly huge. I liked it before when I could ignore them.

Oh, I thought that was one of the contract mods as I've visited a few due to contracts but never until I installed Contract Configurator...

I feel that instead of "easter eggs" they could be termed "points of interest" (they aren't really very secret), and that there should be a lot more of them.  Perhaps that was the original plan, given the Duna SSTV transmission.

Thank you.

After posting it I realised that it isn't only console players, though the thought that it (the KSC monolith) could be there on the KSC screen to bring these objects to the player's attention may still hold water..?

Work was done to the other easter eggs as well, so you might want to revisit them too.

And we already know the magic boulder is back, albeit in a new form.

Oh sure.... I just finished circumnavigating the Mun and visiting every one, and then they get bigger???

Just kidding!  :sticktongue:

Driving a big rover around the Mun hunting for Easter eggs is one of the most fun things I've done yet in this game, and I'm quite glad for any excuse to do it all over again someday soon!
