hehe... well, yeah, I like it. :)

I try to keep up with all the mission reports when I'm not working on my own, even if I don't chime in on all of them. Most of the time I just run out of "likes" before I can get all the things I actually liked.

One thing I'm really enjoying, besides the story itself, is how much you're improving as a writer. Your first chapter was good, but to be brutally honest, the technique was a little rough around the edges. But I read where you asked for advice on the writers thread, and I can see that you really listened and took it to heart without getting upset. And it shows, because each of your chapters has gotten better and better, both the storyline and your writing style. Well done!

Sorry about not posting; I've got this weird thing to where my skin is messed up, and I haven't remembered to type up the story. I'm actually on the 24th chapter, and so I have actually (somehow) hit the 5 chapter buffer..... Chapter 24's almost over though, so expect chapter 20 soon!

Thanks! :D

Listening to you talk to me is like talking to someone like J.K. Rowling or Mark Twain or..... I don't know; I don't know any other famous writers.

Off to Petlof (i.e. The North Pole.)

Thanks to all the people who have commented on this story and assisted in my writing; Can't put it into words how much this means.

Chapter 20

The defensive

Time: 15:30 Hours

Location: Jeb’s Office, KSC

Gene walked in the office and shook Jeb’s hand. “Glad you’re back.” He saw Four at the desk, and said “Oh, hello Four.” Jeb was confused. “Four? You know Four?” Gene chuckled, “Well, yeah. Everyone at the KSC and in the military know him at this point. Fortunately, he has allowed us to make copies of him, so now all the military bases have a few NSKD-04’s on site. None as good as the original of course.” Gene finished, looking at Four.

“So, what’s up?” Jeb asked as he sat down at his desk. Gene pursed his lips, and looked out the window. “Beautiful weather we’re having…” Jeb knew what was up. “Where do you want me now?” Jeb asked as he stood to go next to Gene at the window. Gene turned to him. “Petlof.” Jeb looked at Gene and laughed. “No, seriously, where do I go?” Jeb asked as his laugh died. “No.” Jeb said as the realization sunk in.

“We need to defend some key bases out there,” Gene said as he pulled up a map. ”Look. The Jesalian Empire moved up and attempted to take over some key bases. We have reason to suspect that they may be going back for another run.” Jeb looked at the map. “Fine. I need some combat practice anyways.” Jeb went into his closet and grabbed his heavy coat.

“So I’m going to be taking my own plane?” Jeb asked as he went out the door, being followed by Four. “Yes,” Gene said as he followed Jeb. Jeb saw a NSKSA-04 on the runway. Jeb swallowed, and walked towards it. Four froze, and transferred himself over to plane. Jeb got into the plane, and Four said, “Don’t worry Jeb, the plane is made much safer. What happened to Haydi now has a 105% chance of not happening again.”

“Four,” Jeb said as he rolled the plane towards the runway. “You just read my mind.”

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Time: 15:45 Hours

Location: Runway, KSC

“Flight, this is control. You are cleared for launch, Over.” Gene said from the control tower. Jeb, who was flying in the same plane that killed Haydi, was more nervous than Kerbalby possible, replied with a “Roger that, initiating flight sequence.” Jeb pulled in the airbrakes, and fired up the engines.

For a plane twice as long as most fighters, the NSKSA-04 handled pretty amazingly. It was made for the elite fighter pilots, and with Jeb’s background, he was a perfect match for it. He got up into the air with ease, and lowered thrust to save enough fuel to get to Petlof.

Four alerted him that there were 4 planes following and closing in. Jeb attempted to whirl around, but couldn’t see the planes. Then, there was a loud whine, followed by the shadow of 4 planes going overhead.

“‘White Wing’s inbound to Petlof,” Maxxy said over the radio as the group fell back to get into formation. Jeb smiled as he keyed the radio. “Hey, what are you guys doing here?” Jeb asked as his tri-engine design allowed him to catch up easily. “Gene had us deployed to Petlof; Same as you.” Maxxy replied. “And besides,” John said as they got into formation, “We wouldn’t leave you to defend Petlof by yourself.”

Jeb smiled, and turned to the white land known as the north pole.

Chapter 21

The fall of Agonarch

Time: 16:00 Hours

Location: Imperium City, Agonarch Imperium (Capital)

The forces of Dystrios had been attacking the city for over 3 weeks, basically creating a siege. The Agonarch troops had been defending the capital bravely, but they couldn’t do enough, as Dystrios special ops troops had invaded the city, and captured the president.

Now, with Allied forces all over the world, Dystrios had taken the most industrial country of all. The Troops were overjoyed at their luck. Finally, after all the defeats and all their retreats and advances, they finally had land to show it.

In celebration, the Jesalian Empire had sent in some planes, preparing to destroy Petlof. Now that they were on a roll, the two allies felt they could take over anyone. As the flights launched, Shaun Kerman looked out at the new Air Force.

He saw new planes, new vehicles, new weapons, just new. He smiled as he turned to address his soldiers. Now he was going to have some fun.

Chapter 22

In Petlof

Time: 16:30 Hours

Location: North Petlof Airbase, Petlof

Jeb shivered as he stepped out of his plane. Fortunately, the weather was not bad, and Jeb was able to see the base from a long way out. Jeb saw the rest of the White Wing squad getting out of their K-1’s, shivering as well at the freezing cold weather. Flight crews immediately went to the rear of the planes, sticking something that looked like a leaf-blower in the engine nozzle.

“It’s so that the engine doesn’t freeze up and die,” One of them said as they stuck 4 blowers in each nozzle of the Rapiers. Jeb walked into the large main building, where there was a large screen with a political map with a lot of red dots slowly moving slowly towards Petlof.

“What’s up?” Jeb asked as he sat down in the seat in front of the screen. Something was wrong with the map though. The Agonarch Imperium was not yellow anymore, and it’s name was gone. Instead, it was a dark green. And the name said Dystrios.

“What the…” Jeb said as person went up to the center of the room. “Okay everyone, we all know the drill, but for the new pilots here, we’ll give you the rundown. About 30 minutes ago, the Agonarch Imperium was taken over by Dystrios. Now, the Jesalian Empire has sent some JE-01 Screamy’s at us, and the Dystrios Air force is preparing to launch some XF-4B Bombers from the North Waters Airbase. However, we have some SpeedSingles, and a couple SpeedFighter6’s on standby. We also have some K-1’s and a NSKSA-4, from the NSK, so the odds are in our favor.”

The person looked at the group. “Any questions?” Jeb looked around to see no one with questions. “Then good luck.”

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Time: 16:35 Hours

Location: North Petlof Airbase, Petlof

Jeb was flying at about 50km up, ready and waiting to get the message to drop down from the sky like a great eagle and attack. He saw some planes screaming through the air, and Jeb received the message; Fire at will.

Jeb began to go into a straight nosedive, the speed rising rapidly. “Hang on Four!” Jeb shouted as he pulled out of the dive, and obliterating the front line of planes with a few well-placed missiles. He screamed past the base, making a loud FWOOOOMMMMM sound down below as the supersonic fighter passed 1.5km/s. Jeb circled around, passing the enemy planes yet again.

Now, K-1’s and SpeedSingles had engaged the enemy fighters, chasing them around like angry bees. With the XF-4B’s destroyed, the base was safe from bombing, and so the base brought out some AAA guns and missile turrets. In just under 5 minutes, the entire group of enemy planes had been destroyed.

Standby fighters, we’ve got another group inbound, 50 km out and closing.” The controller said into the mic. Their spy satellite picked up the images of the fighters, and they appeared to be Penguinian Phoenix 3’s and SpeedFighter-05’s. The control room groaned. They hated the Penguinian’s, mainly because even though they weren’t better than Petlof, they thought they were better in every way, shape, and form.

But then they saw another cluster of planes. There were more XF-4B’s, JE-01 Screamys, and a new plane; a Fasty McGoFast Mk. 2. “All pilots, we have enemy contacts 50 km out, Penguinia contacts 25 km out. Be warned, Penguinia pilots are allies. Engage the Dystrios and Jesalian.” The controller shouted into the mic as the AAA went back into the hangar. It would be too dangerous with all the friendlies flying around.

The Penguinia planes flew in, and Jeb began his climb to attack from the heavens yet again. Jeb saw the planes yet again, and descended. This time, he took out the middle rank, and hit the front at well. After the Penguinia planes had circled around for an attack, all that was left of the strike force was a few pieces of debris, and extremely excited pilots.

Chapter 23

For Haydi

Time: 12:00 Hours, 2 Days later

Location: KSC

Jeb was looking at the plane, suddenly realizing why Haydi loved the thing. As Four switched back to his regular body, Jeb saw a group of Penguinian pilots walking over. “Hi,” He called out as the pilot continued to walk over. Then, out of nowhere, a group of Petlof pilots seemingly materialized in front of Jeb, creating a sort of wall. This can’t be good. Jeb tried to slowly back away, as he remembered that these two had quite a history together.

“Whot do you wont?” The Petlof pilots asked in their characteristic accent.

“Well,” The lead pilot paused as he put a finger to his chin. “One, we just wanted to extend our congratulations at actually defending your base.” The lead pilot from Petlof, Billy, looked downright murderous. The Penguinia pilot continued.“Second, we wanted to say ‘hi’, and third, we just smoked you guys in the speed tests; New world record of 1.3 kilos per second.” The pilot, Saul according to the name tag on his uniform, smiled as he brushed imaginary dust off his shoulder. “Beat it.”

“Uuuhhh… Just did.” Jeb smiled as he cleared himself a hole through the wall. “1.5 km/s on that dive. Twice actually.” He smiled as the faces of the Penguinians turned from smug to horrified in a matter of seconds. Jeb suddenly felt like there were a thousand glaring eyes pointed straight at him.

“Uh. Carry on,” Jeb backed out of the semi-circle. not wanting to be caught up in a full-fledged fight. As he turned to get back to the NSKSA-4, Jeb saw the White Wings all conversing near the K-1’s, which were lined up on the runway.

“I’ve got a feeling that we can’t do much here,” The group looked at him. “Why?” Maxxy said as the two groups of pilots began to shout at each other.

“Uh, I think you’re right.” She began to walk back to her K-1. As soon as Jeb got into his plane, he heard Gene shouting at him over the radio.

“Jeb! Pickup! Jeb! For the love of all things-“ Gene was ranting as Jeb picked up. “Yellow?” Jeb casually looked at his nails as if he were talking to someone on the telephone. “Jeb there you are. Listen, get back here NOW!” Gene shouted the last word out like it was of the upmost importance.

“Why?” Jeb was starting to get nervous. “You need to be present for the launch of the Slavisnian attack fleet.” Now Jeb was really confused. “Huh? Why me?” Gene breathed a little bit, knowing that this last sentence would really crush him. “Haydi asked you to; Her hologram I mean.”

“Okay…” Jeb began to chuckle as the other pilots warmed up their engines. “I find it funny that you would be freaking out so much just to tell me that Haydi wanted me.” Gene just replied with “Just hurry up and get here.” Just one thing first, Jeb grabbed a bottle out of the kitchen.

“With all of the power given to me by the KSC, NSK, and all military branches of the country, I now re-name this plane to the NSK Haydi.” Jeb whacked the bottle over the top of the plane, sending glass and liquid in all directions.

The arguing pilots stopped what they were doing, and took their hats off in memory of the great pilot. Now, with all that done, Jeb got into the new NSK Haydi, and launched to go back home

The end is near..... (Maybe)

Chapter 24

The End of Slavisnia

Time: 12:45 Hours

Location: KSC

Bill prepared his battleship for his first navy mission is such a long time. His ship launched wonderfully, leaving the port at a fast (for the size of the craft) 15 m/s. He heard a loud noise behind the ship, and saw the ‘White Wing’ group led by Jeb in the Haydi. Bill smiled as the planes broke off and landed back at the KSC. Bill alerted the crew that they would have about a 3 hour trip to Slavisnia.

The trip went well; no major incidents, and the ship arrived on the coast of Slavisnia’s capital- Square Island- within the afternoon. Now, with the ships in formation, Bill called in the cavalry.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Time: 16:00 Hours

Location: Over the Sea of Kerbin

Jeb was streaking through the sky at over 1000 m/s, admiring the flames going across the nose of the craft. Jeb looked down and saw the island nation that had caused so much chaos and loss. Now, as Jeb angled down to begin the first bombing run, the battle of Slavisnia had begun.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Time: 10:05 Hours

Location: KMS Kerbin

Bill saw two of the enemy ships on the horizon. “All units, make your way to your battle stations. This is what we were made for.” Bill grabbed his binoculars and stared out at the 3 advancing ships. The ships continued to advance, and Bill throttled down, stopping the speed at standoff range.

“Hold your fire,” Bill commanded as the ships gained. “FIRE AT WILL!” He yelled out as the ships hit the 5km buffer zone. The ship was rocked by 2 massive shells being fired out of the front guns. The first shell hit the left ship, making it billow out black smoke.

Bill turned the ship to the right, allowing the side cannons open up as well. This shaded the armor of the light destroyer, and made it vulnerable to the main guns to get right into the flesh of the vessel. The shells went straight into the center, and the ship was blown into hundreds of pieces. A loud cheer went up among the crew as the other two ships began their attack.

The destroyer on Bill’s left began to take hits, but the armor was able to take the hits well. “Bombs incoming,” Jeb said over the radio. The bombs slammed into the deck, crippling the enemy. Another wave created the perfect distraction, as the expert gunners managed to take shots and both ships, creating holes in the sides and causing the ships to capsize.

“NICE JOB BILL!” Jeb exclaimed as he flew over the ships. Now for the planes to do their job.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Time: 10:20 Hours

Location: Over Square Island, Slavisnia (Capital)

Jeb passed over the capital, circling the center. “Keep your eyes out for AAA,” Jeb radioed to all the other pilots. The enemy planes finally took off, and engaged the allied craft. Unfortunately planes from the Eastern Empire weren’t able to scramble jets over, but the states still had the USK on their side.

“On your tail,” Maxxy called out as she followed an enemy craft that was attempting to get a lock on Jeb. He spun the plane around, and shot down the enemy. The craft spiraled down, and slammed into the ocean. “Watch it!” Bill shouted. “Sorry,” Jeb replied as the planes made a bombing pass over the capital.

“The M1’s have arrived!” Bob said as the amphibious attack boats landed on the beaches, allowing the M1 Abrams tanks to get onto the shores. Now that the main forces had arrived, Jeb prepared to head back to the KSC.

“Jeb, this is Gene. Come in Jeb.” Gene said from back at the KSC. Jeb hit the radio button. “Yeah?”

“Go ahead and get back to the KSC; We’re going to need your help with something here.” Gene seemed worried. Of course, Jeb thought to himself as he directed the White Wing squad to head back, He’s pretty much always that way.

“On it,” Jeb slammed the throttle to max, and the group sped off towards the KSC, streaking through the air in an attempt to get back home.

I just now realized that I made a minor screw-up, and I need to get to chapter 25! So.....

Chapter 25

Valentina’s Return

Time: 11:15 Hours

Location: KSC

Jeb was briskly walking towards Gene’s office when he heard two voices obviously arguing about something. “No. I won’t allow you to go back to war.” Jeb heard Genes voice. As he walked in, he began to ask, “Who?” before stopping in his tracks at who was standing there in front of him.

There, in her old orange uniform, was Val. “Val? Honey, what are you doing here?” Gene turned to him. “She has decided to get in the war too.” Gene was slightly agitated. “As I have said,” Valentina turned to Gene as he sat down. “You need me in the war, and to be honest, I need something to do around here.”

“What about Robert?” Gene asked as he glanced at Jeb and Val, who had moved together so that they were shoulder to shoulder. “He’s going to be working here,” Valentina defensively said, crossing her arms. Jeb looked at her in shock. “Here? At the KSC?”

“Well, yeah.” Val handed him an envelope that had Wernher’s address on the return slot. “This came in the mail; Wernher’s asking for volunteers. and when Rob heard about it, he basically pulled me into the car and we’re here.” Jeb looked out the window at the R&D facility. “Where’s he at now?” He asked as Gene gave an exasperated sigh, which was promptly ignored. “Well, Wernher took him and the other volunteers to classrooms, but by now they’re testing their skills to see what kind of jobs they do.”

“Jeb! Over here,” Gene almost shouted as he leaned over the desk to get Jeb’s attention. “Yeah?” Jeb turned to Gene. “Finally. Now, I have called you here to discuss something that is concerning all of the nations of Kerbin.” Gene pulled up a video on his laptop. Gene turned the screen towards Jeb, and he clicked the play button.

“Aw, come on!” Gene exclaimed as an ad popped up on the screen. “If I want Kudweiser, I’d have already bought it.” Jeb snickered as Val smiled at the computer. “Here we go,” Gene turned the computer to Jeb, and he saw a newscaster sitting at a desk, and wearing a grim expression.

“And in other news today, government officials have indeed confirmed that a  communications satellite has been destroyed in orbit over Kerbin. This satellite, which was used for international communications- and also communications inside of the country- was apparently hit by missiles, before being shot by turrets. Radar images have confirmed that where the satellite once was, there is only a trail of debris. No nation has claimed responsibility, nor any group or organization. In any case, a new satellite is scheduled to launch in 1 week. Samantha Kerman, NSKTV News.”

“So let me get this straight,” Jeb said as the screen turned off. “A satellite was destroyed, and no one knows who?” Gene nodded. “Basically, yes. Long-story-short, one of our satellites was blown up. However, we have new evidence that the attacker could be…. Well… Not from Kerbin.” Gene pulled up a picture from the satellite. “Here, we have the last few pictures that was taken. It shows a vessel, which was outfitted with missiles, guns, and a load of crew. We believe that this thing is what destroyed our satellite.”

The picture showed a huge ship- Longer than the VAB was tall- and it had turrets on the sides and the top. And there was a strange flag on the side of it. It showed a planet, with a large dagger through it.

“Well Gene,” Jeb said as he stood up. “This was nice and all, but how about we deal with battles on Kerbin before we deal with battles off it.”

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Time: 11:30 Hours

Location: Runway, KSC

Valentina fired up the engine and prepared for takeoff. Even though she had flown just as many missions as Jeb, she still had to do the test. “Alright Val, so just go ahead and test the throttle settings,” Gene called over the radio. “I know how to fly, Gene.” Val chuckled over the radio. Jeb smiled as she launched off the runway.

The plane flew nicely, performing graceful dives and rolls. Gene pressed the radio button again. “Alright, so go ahead and get the plane up to max speed.” Val was starting to get annoyed. “If you can fly this piece of junk better than I can, then by all means, get a plane and join me.” She practically shouted out. Gene gave a sour glance at Jeb. “I blame you for this,” He said as Jeb activated his own radio. “Nice job Val, just keep on doing what you’re doing.”

After about 15 more minutes of flight, Val landed the plane on the runway, and got out of the plane. Jeb ran out of the building, and hugged her. “I actually flew!” She said as they walked off the runway. “Yes, you did.” Jeb said as the plane was put back in the hanger.

16 minutes ago, Emperor of the Titan Squid said:

Wait... what was the first great war? Also, what sides are each of the nations on?

1) The First Great War was the Eastern Empire vs the National States of Kerbin (And the United States of Kerbolia after a minor issue with map reading), in which the allies won. Shaun Kerman (The bad leader in part 2) Led the Eastern Empire, but was exiled. However, he survived this exiling, and returned to lead a revolution, and take over Dystrios.

2) The Allies are the National States of Kerbin, the United States of Kerbolia, and the Eastern Empire. (Petlof and Penguinia are just sort of neutral.) The enemy (Or the Axis- whichever you want- are Dystrios, Slavisnia, and the Jesalian Empire.

NUKES!!! Also, Even though I am writing Chapter 30 Right now, I plan for 32 to be the last one, so I had to sort of smush everything in.

Chapter 26

Agonarch Freed

Time: 19:00 Hours, The next day

Location: Runway, KSC

The brand-new attack force had been trudging through the harsh Petlof terrain for the past few weeks, and they were finally near their destination; Agonarch Imperium. The mixture of tanks and cars were armed to the teeth, with armor and guns covering every inch of their surface.

“Alright, now remember; Dystrios doesn’t know about our invasion, so we have the element of surprise.” Frankfort Kerman, the leading officer, said over the radio. “Just do what you know how, and we’ll retake the AI.” They crossed into the territory, and when night fell, they re-began their trek.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Time: 23:00 Hours

Location: Imperium City, Dystrios

The group had finally arrived at the capital. They all knew how bad this could go, but they also knew how well it could go as well. The light vehicles rode in first, silently rolling through the streets. The tanks followed, followed by the heavy tanks. Each of the groups went off in their own directions, bent on capturing the city.

“Everyone in position?” Frankfort asked to the groups. When they all replied, ‘Yes,’ he screamed out, “Fire at will!” The city became alive with brilliant flashes of light, massive booms, and the pops of gunfire.

Due to their surprise attack, the defenders weren’t able to return fire, creating a massive slaughter. The NSK troops all plowed through defenses and blocks, before making their way to the leader’s mansion.

Now, with the help of the Allies, the Agonarch Imperium was free again.

Chapter 27

Haydi’s Revenge

Time: 12:00 Hours, The next morning

Location: KSC

A large group of soldiers and representatives had gathered at the KSC. They all were there awaiting the president of Slavisnia, who was going to sign a treaty. The large jet landed, and the passenger bridge was deployed. A group of officials, followed by a tired looking leader, walked out of the main door and onto the tarmac.

The signing went well, and after the end of it all, the Allies all had a piece of what was once Slavisnia. As the president got onto the jet, a loud alarm sounded out. A squad of fighters were spotted, and they had a massive amount of bombs. “We don’t have enough time to scramble the jets!” Gene yelled out as the jets got closer. Then, out of nowhere, Haydi’s hologram appeared next to Jeb.

“On it!” She shouted over the alarm. She disappeared, and the jets veered off course. They disappeared over the horizon, before a loud Splash was heard. A rescue crew went out to the crash site, and retrieved 5 very wet looking pilots. Hyde then returned, smiling at the pilots.

“How did you do that?” Jeb stared at her. “Oh, well apparently I can hack into things now,” She said as the pilots trudged past. “So I just went into the planes, messed with the settings, and presto, change-o, no more enemy.” Jeb laughed. But on the inside, he was terribly sad. He thought, Now if only you were still alive.

Chapter 28

Jesalian’s End

Time: 11:30 Hours

Location: Over the Northern Bay

The squadrons of fighter jets had all launched from their own bases with one mission in mind; Destroy the Jesalian. A large battalion was going to make the first strike, but the main force would come in the second stage. Jacky Kerman, a relative newcomer to the job, hit the radio.

“Remember, our job os to distract, and take out as much of the defenses as possible. If we can’t do that in time, then just run like the demons of the Kerblord are after you.” She wrapped the oxygen mask around her face, and armed the weapons.

The radar dishes picked up their location almost immediately, and sent out an alert. Fighter jets and defenses scrambled up into the sky. The pilots performed flowing dives, rolls, and circles, which managed to distract the enemy. Then, Jacky got a notification on her dash. This time she slammed the radio button down.

“ALL UNITS! RETREAT AT ALL COSTS! I REPEAT, RETREAT AT ALL COSTS,” She screamed out as she peeled away from the enemy fighter. The maneuver was repeated by the rest of the pilots, and they used their powerful whiplash engines to bolt out of the danger zone.

A massive plane flew overhead, and Jacky looked up to see the bay doors open. There, in the cargo bay of the B-2 Super-bomber, was the worlds’ first nuclear bomb.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Time: 12:00 Hours

Location: Over the capital of the Jesalian Empire

Tyler Kerman saw the sleek, nimble fighters zoom under the plane, and he knew that he would drop the first nuke any second now. “Where do we hit?” George Kerman said to him as the plane slowed to 75 m/s. “I don’t really think it matters to be honest,” Tyler replied. “Just that we hit the city within a 15 km radius.” George shrugged.

“I guess you’re right.” The plane slowly crept up towards the city limits. “Ready?” Tyler put his hand over the fire button. George gulped and nodded. “3, 2, 1.” Tyler breathed as the bombs released.

“LET’S GET OUT OF HERE!” He screamed in an octave higher than he was probably supposed to. The four whiplash engines on the wings were fired up to full throttle, and the bomber began to pick up speed. The craft rolled to the right, and they began the turn.

“Wait for it,” George said as he put some binoculars to his face. Tyler yanked them out of his hands. “You want to go blind?” He asked as he threw the binoculars in the back.

“Well-“ George began to reply, before being interrupted by a massive BA-BABOOOOOMMMM, when the bomb hit the ground. A brilliant flash of orange and yellow light pierced the skies, and a huge mushroom cloud a mile in diameter extended into the upper atmosphere.

Tyler and George both looked at each other in awe. They had just dropped the first nuclear bomb known to kerbal. “Well… That happened,” George said after a minute of silent flight. “Is there anything left?” Gene’s voice asked over the radio back at the KSC. They both looked.

The once beautiful hillside was now ruined, with ash and debris for miles. Anything above the ground- Buildings, people, and vehicles alike- were disintegrated.

“Nothing besides a black area,” Tyler replied, feeling a tad sick. “Good. Now head back to the KSC, and we’ll look over the SatMap images to see what’s left.” Gene sounded almost happy at the loss of over half a million people.

“There’s…. There’s nothing left Gene,” Tyler explained. “Nothing but a charred area; Debris for miles. No vehicles, no people, no buildings; Nothing.” He felt a tear trail down his face, which was wiped away as fast as it came.

“Well, either way it’s mission accomplished. Now hurry up and get back.” Gene seemed oblivious as to how much destruction one piece of metal had caused. Tyler steered the plane on course, and headed back to home.

Chapter 29

The End Game

Time: 13:00 Hours

Location: Shaun City, Dystrios (Capital)

“No, no NO! This can’t be happening!” Shaun shouted as he paced in his office. He threw his report on the Jesalian’s defeat across the room, scattering all of the pages. “Sir, a metropolis of over 500,000 people is not going to be able to cope with a bomb of that magnitude,” Shaun’s senior adviser, Juan Kerman, calmly stated as he remained seated.

“But why did they surrender?!” Shaun retorted, staring Juan in the eyes with a furious gleam. “Lizzy Kerman told you that they were a peaceful nation, and would not like to partake in war-like activities. This bomb was just the excuse they needed to get out of the war.” Juan replied, looking at his laptop to see the new SatMap images. They came up on screen, and Juan turned the screen around.

“What the Kerblord?” Shaun breathed as he took in the magnitude of the damage. Where there was once a shining, gleaming example of a perfect metropolis, was now a terrible war zone. Blackened, charred land extended for miles, filling the screen with destruction.

“Launch the National Guard. Alert the Red Cross and all the other disaster relief organizations. If there are any survivors, then we’re going to get them out.” Shaun said as he clenched his jaw.

“What if there are other nations sending relief?” Juan asked as Shaun began to walk out of the room. “Ignore them. This is an international affair at this point.” Shaun shut the door as the reporters began to arrive.

Time: 14:00 Hours

Location: Capital of the Jesalian Empire

Jeb carefully set down right in the middle of the city. He looked back at the J-01, and breathed a sigh of relief that the KSC ground crew had thought to take the missiles off of it. He looked out at all of the people working to help the rescue operation, and he knew that the scenes that awaited him would definitely not look pretty.

“Hey! No weapons in an active rescue zone!” A harsh voice barked out. Jeb turned to see a soldier holding a rifle. “What about you?” Jeb nodded towards the gun. “I’m on the guard detail; Basically I just keep people from getting in here with weapons.” The soldier replied, not letting his guard down.

“Well this gun is here because our crew didn’t quite know what to expect. Now, if you will excuse me,” Jeb tried to get past, but the soldier stood right in front of him. Jeb sighed. “Look, I’m here to do the same job as you; Get any survivors out of the city, and to some medical help. I’m not going to blow anything up, and if you’ll let me get through then it’ll save us a whole heap of trouble.”

“Well your country was the one that blew this place up in the first place,” The soldier retorted. Ouch, Jeb thought as a group of rescuers rushed out to the landing/takeoff area. “Clear a hole!” The one in the lead shouted, carrying a stretcher. Jeb ran back to his plane, and deployed the ramp for the people to put the victim in.

“Where’re you taking them?” A person asked as Jeb spooled up the VTOL engines. “Agonarch said they’ll take them,” Jeb called down as the plane began to wobble. “Happy travels!” The person waved as he closed the door.

The plane got off the ground, and Jeb punched the throttle up to max. Shooting up into the sky, the plane resembled an un-aerodynamic rocket than a fighter jet. But then, when Jeb activated the rear engine, the rocket turned into a sleek speed machine.

“Penn City hospital, this is Rescue 1, come in Penn City.” Jeb tried to contact the nearest neutral hospital. After a few minutes of repeated attempts at contact, he finally confirmed that he would be landing on the helipad.

As the hospital got near, Jeb heard a slight groan from the back. “We’ll be there soon,” Jeb turned his head to see who had made the noise. Jeb muttered, “I hope.”

The plane nudged down on the pad nicely, giving a slight bump as the engines were cut. A ton of medical personnel wearing white hazmat suits and masks to keep from getting radiation on them. Jeb leaped out of the plane, and helped get the people out of the plane.

“Ouch,” Jeb heard a moan coming from the closest stretcher. Jeb leaned his head in to see who it was that had made the noise. The person was a mess, with cuts and bruises all over his face. But Jeb could still see who it was.

“Sam?” He breathed as the crews began to extract the victims from the plane. “Hey, bro,” Sam mumbled as the crews got to him. “How you feeling?” Jeb asked, still shocked that his friend was even there. Sam raised his arms, looked around, and and put on a face of mock confusion.

“Oh, well just fine, thanks a lot for asking.” Jeb smiled, and followed them into the entrance of the emergency room, which had been turned into an ICU unit. “Hey, I got to go back to the city, but I’ll be back soon, ok?” Jeb said as he began to back away.

“Fly safe,” Sam called out, before having a oxygen mask put over his mouth. Jeb put his left hand up in a sort of wave, and walked out the revolving doors to his plane to go on another mission.

But do you have a story for the first one?

I did, but I may have forgotten to water it and it shriveled up into a crisp and died. If you want it, I could re-post it (I typed it up on Pages and it's on a drive) But be warned: The writing is absolutely terrible compared to this.

I just want to thank you all for your help and input that has been given on this story. It means more then I can really type at the moment.

But without further ado.....

Chapter 30

Victory

Time: 10:30 hours, 1 Week later

Location: Over the South Sea

“Alright guys, just remember; We’re going to do all that we can, and we’re going to win.” Jeb radioed to the pilots as they flew at breakneck speed towards Shaun City. The group was escorting groups of bombers, paratroopers, and even more planes on one mission: Destroy the city.

“Yeah, yeah we get it.” Valentina sighed as she caught up to Jeb. Jeb looked at her with a sour face, and she smiled. “Gene, we’re on course; ETA about 10 minutes.” Jeb made sure that Gene didn’t freak out at the fact 2 of his star pilots were going out on a mission.

“Alright, just remember: Go straight down, and dodge the AAA,” Gene replied. Jeb sighed a reply. “I think I know that.” Gene had been going over the ‘plan’ for over 2 hours, both on the radio and before the planes took off.

“Still-“ Gene started, before again being interrupted by Jeb again. “Gene, I swear to Kerblord,” But was cut off by the alarm clock on the dash, alerting him to the fact that it was time for battle.

“All units, strap in and get ready. Flaps into combat settings and throttle on max. It’s showtime.” And with that, the group of over 25 pilots dove down into the wildest mission of their lives.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Time: 10:40 Hours

Location: Over Shaun City

The bullets going off of the AAA guns filled the view out the front, but just as the guns began to get their shots close, the bombs slammed into the turrets. “Nice one!” Jeb exclaimed as he caught up to an enemy fighter.

Though the anti-air fire was thick, the pilots managed to fly nice and smoothly. After 10 or so minutes, the allies had managed to shoot down all but 3 of the enemy planes, which were proving to be more trouble than was first anticipated.

“Come on! Just slow down by a couple meters,” Val shouted, wanting to just get a good shot with the missiles. Jeb turned his plane, and shot the plane down, shearing off a wing and the engine.

“Jeb! That was mine!” Val sounded disappointed at the loss of a kill. “Hey, first come, first serve.” Jeb replied, heading off to the next fighter. “I’ve been ‘first come,’ for the last 5 minutes!” She shouted at him, following Jeb around to steal his kill.

“I’ll let you have the next one,” Jeb smiled back, aiming up a shot on the next target. Out of nowhere, a swarm of bullets met the craft, barely missing the top of Jeb’s cockpit. The enemy spiraled out of control, smoking profusely from the left.

“Ha ha! One for me.” Val gave a light laugh as she continued to follow Jeb. “No holds barred,” Jeb grinned as he slammed the throttle to give chase. He joined in with a host of other planes, which held back to allow him space.

Just as Jeb got on the tail of the though, the enemy’s engine gave off a huge burst of sparks, and drastically slowed down. “Whoah!” Jeb shouted as he yanked the stick back, barely missing the tail fin of the target. Valentina, however, stayed on the tail, and shot down the enemy.

“Yes! I beat you 2-1!” She yelled, doing a couple of barrel rolls in celebration. “No fair!” Jeb replied, turning the plane back on course towards the KSC. “I had to move out of his way to keep from crashing.”

“You’re the one that said ‘No holds barred,’” Valentina said as she got back into line. Jeb made an all-units callout. “Alright guys, fight’s pretty much over. Let’s get home.” But on the ground, the battle has just begun.

Time: 11:00 Hours

Location: Shaun City, Dystrios (Capital)

The armada of tanks rolled out of the cargo ships, filling the entire bay with a deafening roar. With over 15 tanks, the group was a massive force to be reckoned with. Bob was going solo on this mission, as he peeled off from the main group to flank around the side of the city.

As he went onto a long sea-side street, he was stopped by a group of enemy tanks, numbering at around 5. Uh oh, Bob thought as he began to back the tank up, hearing the crashing waves just barely hit the side of the seawall. However, just as the enemy began to aim their turrets at Bob, there was a massive explosion underneath them, accompanied by a huge cloud of dust.

“What in the-“ Bob asked as he stopped the tank from going rear-first into the bay. “You alright?” Bill checked via radio. “Yeah, thanks. That was one heck of an explosion,” Bob looked at the debris, only to find that there were just some small plating. Everything else was sinking to the bottom of the sea.

After a few minutes, Bob arrived at the capitol building. Even though it was the capital, it was still relatively unprotected. As he got out of the tank, the rest of the group rolled into the main driveway.

“So… Do we go in?” Bob looked up at the large stone stairs, and nodded at the front doors. Even though the building did belong to the enemy, Bob was still impressed with the place.

White stone pillars rose up out of the ground, and met with the roof to create bold lines on the building’s surface. The large oak doors stretched to the top of the first floor, somehow managing to be both terrifying and beautiful at the same time.

“Let’s go,” A member replied, grabbing an assault rifle from the storage truck. Another 2 soldiers grabbed a battering ram, and carried it up the steps. Bob felt the door, and couldn’t detect anything that could blow up.

“On my mark, Maria will slam the door, and then you two will hit it with the ram. With luck, the door should break open.” Bob pointed to the two holding the ram as Maria prepared a run at the door.

“GO!” Bob shouted as Maria began to charge. She slammed into the door, which flew open. Maria was flung into the entrance, and skidded to stop in the middle of the room. “Ow,” She groaned as she brushed dust off her uniform.

“Was the door even locked?” Bob asked as he checked the door. Sure enough, someone he disabled the lock, and so when Maria hit it, the door didn’t give any resistance. “You okay?” Bob called out to Maria, who was looking around the room to find a light switch.

The entire building was dark, without any lights on, any sounds; No signs of life at all. “Yeah,” Maria found the light switch, and flicked it. The room remained dark. “Did we do this?” She asked as she flipped the switch off and on again, with the same result.

“No, I don't think so.” Bob replied, turning on the light on his rifle to get a better view on the situation. “Masks on; We don’t want to breathe anything in here,” Selina Kerman said as she slid a clear mask over her face and activated the mask light. The entire squad did the same, and began to walk around the room.

“This is creepy,” Maria remarked as they all walked up the stairs. “No kidding. I thought that we would be shooting them up, taking this place in a bloodbath.” Bob admitted, leading the pack into some offices.

“What if it’s a trap?” Selina asked, looking around the room before going to a window. “What if they want us to be here, and there’s something going on that we don’t know?” Bob shook his head. “I highly doubt that that’s what’s going on here,” He scoffed as he opened the door.

But he gave a sharp inhale and raised his gun as he went in. There, standing at the window of the presidential office, was Shaun Kerman. And his suit was flashing red lights.

………………………………………………………………………………………………………………

Time: 11:45 Hours

Location: Shaun’s office; Shaun City, Dystrios (Capital)

“Good morning,” Shaun gave a cruel smile as he turned back to the window. “How are you?” Bob raised the gun as the other soldiers walked in, guns raised as well. “Disarm the bombs, Shaun,” Bob warned as he stepped towards Shaun.

Shaun raised a remote, and the group flinched. “I should very well think not. See, If I disarm the system, you’ll capture me, and I’ll escape your prisons. Then that would set off this chain of events all over again. So instead, I’ll go down, and you with me.”

“Why?” Bob asked as he stepped back, not trying to set off the multiple pounds of explosives on Shaun alone. “Well, I have tried to eliminate your brother, Jeb. But time after time, my plans have been foiled. So, I decided that if I couldn’t take one Veteran, then I’ll just get another.” Bob suddenly felt relieved that Bill, Jeb, and Val were back at the NSK.

“It won’t work. Bill’s still here, and he’s on his way. You don’t stand a chance.” Bob bluffed, silently pressing a radio button to Bill, who was manning the super-computers back on his ship.

“Plus, Bill’s an expert hacker. I’m sure that he can find a way to deactivate the personal bombs.” Bob stressed the words and hoped Bill got the message. “No matter. Your time has come, Bob.” Shaun pressed the button to set off the bombs. “Goodbye.”

But the bomb’s didn’t explode. Shaun looked confused, and pressed the button again. He gave an exasperated sigh, and pulled out a pistol. He fired wildly into the air, hitting Bob in the arm and Selina in the leg.

Bob let out a roar of rage, and shoved Shaun back, sending him crashing through the window. “Get down!” He exclaimed as Shaun hit the ground. Now, with the hacking spree ended, the bombs exploded, causing the entire building to shake with a bone-rattling explosion.

“Bob! Bob! Did it work?” Bill asked over the radio. Bob coughed out some dust, before replying, “Yeah, it worked.”

“Yes! I thought that you had gone down in a swarm of bullets. But thank Kerblord you’re okay. I AM BILL THE HACKER!!!! AHAHA!!!” Bill shouted, giving a maniacal laugh. “Hey, Selina and I got hit by those bullets; Could you send a med-evac?” Bob asked, looking at Selina, who was being helped to her feet.

“Sure thing little bro,” Bill responded, typing in coordinates to the rescue teams. “There’s a crew inbound, should be there in about 15 minutes.” Bob looked out the window. “Hey, nice job. Not many people could have done that,” Bob had to grin a little at the compliment. “Well, what could I do? He had us all in the room and so I figured, what the heck.”

“Hey! Is that my little brother that just saved the world?” Jeb’s voice came over the radio. “Hey, Jeb.” Bob grinned as he saw the medical helicopters on the horizon. “So, how does it feel to be the savior of the war?” Jeb chuckled over the radio.

“Pretty good, Jeb.” Bob smiled out on the now destroyed city.

    “Pretty good.”

And now, without further ado... The Epilogue.

Chapter 31

The End’s End

The entire world was still shocked at the resolve of the war. Somehow, some way, the planet had survived the worst war ever known. The entire death count was around 1 million, with about 3/4 of them being citizens in the Jesalian nuclear blast.

Sam, who had been put into the ICU for intense cuts, burns, and radiation poisoning, survived, but will never walk again.

Shaun Kerman, the infamous dictator who had been responsible for both Great Wars, was pronounced dead after 2 days of searching through rubble.

Tyler and George Kerman, the two pilots responsible for the first ever nuclear detonation, were given full honors, before retiring; Knowing the suffering that they had caused to se many innocent civilians.

Bob, who was taken to an Eastern Empire hospital, is now going through rehab, attempting to get healthy as soon as possible.

Selina was taken to a hospital, and after 3 surgeries, 150 stitches, and multiple operations to remove debris from her wound, is currently awaiting a flight to the National States.

And finally; Jeb, who went back to the NSK after the mission, went to Port-view City for a much-deserved vacation. We pick up with him there.

Contact (‘The Battle of Kerbin’ Sneak Peek)

Time: 09:00 Hours, 1 Week later

Location: Port-view City, National States of Kerbin

Jeb sat back in his chair and sipped the smoothie drink on the table. This is the life, he thought as his computer popped up with the Kype call.

“Hey, honey.” Jeb said to Val back at the home. “Hi.” She grinned, sitting down at the breakfast table. “How’s it going over there?” She asked as she drank a glass of orange juice. “Well, the usual; Perfect weather, perfect water.” Jeb wistfully replied, looking at the ocean.

“Well, when yohjhkhvy-” Val said, before the screen went staticky and the audio garbled. “You there?” Jeb asked as he looked at the screen. Val appeared a moment later, looking confused. “The heck was thyuilajhs-” The screen messed up again, before another person appeared.

This person, who stared straight into the screen, had a crisp, black uniform on, with a strange patch on the shoulder. But it wasn’t the uniform that confused him. This person, who stood in front of a stormy window, with a frothing ocean behind him, had blue skin.

“Greetings, people of Kerbin. I am Tacloi Eviano, head speaker for the Evian Council. I am here before you today to tell you about a decision that has recently taken place. All of the nations of Eve were unanimous in this decision, which is this: We will come to destroy all kerbals.

“This decision was reached, after our race discovered your increased violence rate, and tendency to fight in World Wars. With our superior vehicles and technology, we shall wipe the Kerbals off the face of the universe. You have now been warned.” The screen cut to black, and Val’s terrified face appeared on the screen.

“Did you get that too?” She asked, typing in a message. Jeb nodded. “Yeah, I got it.”

“What does this mean?” Val cried out, feverishly typing. Jeb swallowed, and grimly replied, “I think it was a declaration. I think we’re once again at war.”
