Better Kerbal control

Are there any mods which make controlling a kerbal easier, both on ground and rcs?

I find the directional control extremely un-intuitive. like, why doesn't it set the reference direction off the kerbal instead of... whatever it's setting it off in space.

trying to get back in from eva is a pain sometimes, I rotate the kerbal and give it a nudge "foward" and instead he changes direction!

Depends on the setting "EVA's autorotate to camera".

I usually have this unchecked and to clarify my earlier post, if the camera is for example looking east then using the spacebar will make the Kebal face east.

Only on the yaw axis, not the pitch axis. and to make it worse, if you adjust pitch by click dragging, the kerbal will flip round to his previous pitch as soon as you try to thrust.

I'll agree it's a little counter intuitive, at first.   But with just a little practice, controlling a flying Kerbal on EVA becomes quite natural.    Just don't fight with them, and make small adjustments.

Except under very special circumstances -- a Kerbal's helmet in space, under RCS, is forced to point North. As Gargamel says -- don't fight it. It simplifies one of your axes of rotation -- and trying to control a kerbal on EVA with full 6-DOF is an unbelievable PITA. So count your blessings, I think.

One method I use when on eva in orbit is switching the camera mode, it changes thr reference for you

Get to lean how you can control a kerbal using this method and eva becomes a breeze

Here's a video that demonstrates what I am referring to ... pay attention at the beginning as I get the kerbal out of the pod and into the command seat at the other end of the vessel, notice how the camera will spin around and change the view pisition, this is what I am referring to

I have no problems with 6DOF. the problems are twofold:

1 - Cannot look at and thrust directly to a target if the target is above or below the plane of reference, without thrusting in two directions at once, this problem is exerbated when the target has a different perpendicular relative velocity.

2 - Trying to board when the crew hatch is directly above the kerbal is frustratingly hard, since it's too far away to grab while hitting it with the top of the helmet.

Even on the ground the control is very unintuitive, duno why squad went with it.

I'll have a look at the camera trick see if that helps.

I don't think I've ever encountered these issues, let alone even thought that hard about them.   I just reorient the camera, align the kerbal, and fly.   And If I don't reorient the camera, I just remain aware of how each axis of thrust will affect me.  Small gentle thrusts.   Don't fight it.   Be the kerbal, fly the kerbal.
