[1.8-1.12] Ferram Aerospace Research Continued: v0.16.0.5 "Mader" 03/04/22

Hello everyone - is there a known issue with FAR and the tidal stream branch of Procedural parts?

Looks like something else is going on - I am running the master branch straight from github - and am in the process of grabbing a log file if the update from a couple of hours ago does not fix my issues.

Turns out the craft name had illegal characters in it and that was breaking mods.

Updated version file for KSP 1.12 max
Fixed picking up fairing would invalidate voxelization until reopening VAB/SPH
Fixed aerodynamic simulations
Fixed navball displaying wrong speed after switching back and forth from IVA view #112
Fixed voxelization error when a part is placed in the editor but not attached to a ship

Haven't encountered any issues so far in my limited testing on KSP 1.12 but SAS seemed a bit wonky compared to 1.11

thanks for the update!  I do notice one thing though, in the derivatives page, the AoA is always listed as ">0 deg" whereas it used to tell me the angle of attack needed to maintain altitude at that speed/alt given.. Other stuff seems OK but the derivatives and some of the graphs seem.. off?  ie I have a plane that is super heavy and flies like a brick (needs VTOL engines under about 350 KIAS), but the graphs indicate it should be able to fly just fine at 0.35M at 1000m MSL, and it clearly *can not*.  In older KSP versions/FAR versions, this data was relatively accurate.  Thank you for fixing the navball displaying the wrong speed thing as well, that was driving me nuts there for a while ;)

Has this bug been documented to be fixed with v16.0.3? I am getting the same issue with FAR (16.0.3) in KSP 1.12.1

Expand

Also suffered from the issue on FAR 16.0.3 with KSP 1.12.1. Turned out to be another mod's fault(in my case, Kronometer mod bundled with JNSQ). Took quite deal of time to find out because the error spam were indicating FAR and other mods, not the one actually causing the issue.

Sure. Here's my mod list. Though, the issue I referred is about the menu thing, not flight data.

thanks!

anyways, relevant too my previous post, i noticed its only certain kinds of vessels that cause the bug, others work fine. i think its a "bad part" that causes it too error out, maybe the kind of engine or smth. i tried a vessel with only stock parts, and it works fine, and a part with B9 and procedural wing parts (the ones on the problematic vessel), but it also works fine. then i tried the problematic one, and the broken flight data thing happens. will keep testing too see what causes it .

Edit: ok i can literally recreate the problematic craft part for part and save it in a new file and launch it, and not get any issues at all. at this point im just gonna call it cursed and move on, its completely unreproduceable on my end. no clue what happened too it.

Comparing our mod lists, I don't have Kronometer, but I do have these mods that you don't have:

DeployableEngines v2.2.0.0
DistantObject v2.0.2.0
SigmaDimensions v1.0.0.0

Removing these while leaving FAR enabled still results in the menu bug.

Mod installation issue. This thread may help you:

This part is important for you:

  Quote

If you got KSP on Steam, it is recommend to move the game directory out of the Steam directory to prevent auto-updates! It is not possible to deactivate updates on Steam but a new game version may break a mod and/or your (modded) savegame, so you definitly don't want to update the game before you know if all your mods will still work fine or got updated.
Keep in mind that many mods which are compatible with KSP 1.4.x, are still compatible with 1.5.x and 1.6.x. If you play on 1.5.x or 1.6.x and the mod you want to install isn't available for your specific game version, you can still try an older mod version with good chances of success :)

I can only suggest you to make a clean stock KSP game install trough steam (remove whole KSP and mods and then install again). Then copy that clean instance of KSP elsewhere on HDD and add mods over that new instance. Less chance that some mods will be broken in that way. After that carefuly install mods, either by CKAN or manual install. Most likely that you will fix issue with that.

The first exception (_BuildManager) is from Eve-Redux, it hasnt caused me any actual issues in 1.12 yet. but if your having problems with your clouds then youll want to look for help  in the eve thread.

Secondly, You have multiple mods complaining about missing toolbar controller (which will also require click through blocker) you'll want to download and install both of those.  Ferram  lists Blizzy's toolbar for its toolbar requirment as well so you may also need to install that as well (not sure if its required anymore with toolbar controller) . With all of those installed you should see a few new mod related buttons that you were missing. Ferram , engine lighting, etc..

You probably also want to install KSP-recall , its a community bugfix mod and  it will help with a few bugs your almost guaranteed to encounter in this install. but that's just my recommendation and not required to fix FAR

Lastly, your BD armory is throwing all kinds of errors. I don't use BD and I don't know if thats expected behavior, but i would be careful and watch for problems from them (or maybe check with the BD armory thread  as-well)

So to recap - ins tall all three of these to see some mod buttons your missing and hopefully fix your input locks -

I'm running into a problem where I am unable to select either the VAB or SPH in the Space Center view.  I am able to select the Runway and Launchpad, but unable to use the Edit Vessel button to access the editor.  I used the latest download, putting both FAR and ModularFlightIntegrator into my Gamedata.  I have narrowed it down to ModularFlightIntegrator which is causing my problem by placing one folder at a time in GameData.

Modlist is in log.  I know BDArmory probably has a lot of errors.

I am faced with the same problem. BTW I experience this problem in 1.12.1 but not in 1.11.2, although some versions of the mods are different. But I can say that this is not a problem of FAR cuz I removed every mod except for FAR, MM and ModularFlightIntegrator and the issue is gone.

It should be a problem of a mod in RSS-RO pack.

I don't know why but maybe we are experiencing different issues? Fine for me with only FAR and its dependencies.

I'm running 1.12.1

Whenever I get the time, I'll try to see which of my other mods may be the cause, but right now I'm busy searching for the new easter eggs added in 1.12.

I'm also not running RSS/RO.

You have multiple errors from other mods that try to use ClickTroughBlocker. FAR is just one of mods that is in log with such error. You have ClickTroughBlocker installed, but you are missing it's dependency files from ToolbarControl. Try to reinstall Toolbar and all of it's dependencies. That should fix it. There is some other errors that suggest some other mods may not work properly, though, but it is different story.

Getting ToolbarControl working was indeed a proper fix.  Now that I have FAR working, I'm happy to see my f-15 replica is behaving somewhat like in dcs, so I'm hopeful venturing into FAR.  (gotta love high alphas)

Could someone here help me understand the logs I published on the above thread?

It's a crash that happens during reentry, around 70-71 km height. It's an instant Unity crash when reaching that attitude after a crewed Moon flyby. I assume that the problem relies in something related to atmospheric physics, because otherwise why trigger at that exact point and not before that. Problem is I can't identify the problem because no matter how hard I try to read the log, I don't fully understand it. Is it FAR? Is it deadly reentry? Is it Principia? Is it Unity? Directx? Windows?

Any help would be appreciated.

Answered in linked thread. FAR have nothing with your issue.
