any ways to stop crossfeeding electricity?

Recommended Posts

I believe you can edit the configs (preferably via modulemanager) but I don't know what you can change or how to change it. I've never felt the need personally but recall others discussing it long ago. It was likely before the reworked fuel flow so it might not even work anymore :/

If the only problem is your probes are being robbed of battery power you can disable them, even via action group, and then enable them later. But that's kind of clunky

You can turn off the battery or capsule you don't want to drain out. (Press de little "play" button at the right of the electricity level bar)

Oh ya I completely forgot about that functionality.

I like to do this with at least one electricity source on unmanned craft, so I don't accidentally time warp without solar panel coverage and end up with a dead ship.

Although it only works if you have the “allow partial” control option enabled. Otherwise if you lose all power you won’t be able to re-enable those batteries anyway.

Cool, so is it possible with action groups? Mods will do.

Cool, but I have no idea how to work with module manager.

I know that vessel's electricity crossfeeds through all of the vessel, but any way to disable it? mods will do it to, but stock prefered.

It's not stock per se, but electrical charge is a resource like all the other resources.  In despite of our suspension of disbelief, the game only sees numbers where we see drops of fuel or moving electrons.  Nothing prevents you from changing the flow mode, but I must caution you that because electricity has always been designed to flow everywhere, no parts exist that selectively limit the flow of electricity to and from other parts.  This means that you may need to establish crossfeed rules on electrical parts (I do not know whether the default state is to allow flow in the absence of a crossfeed rule; I think so but have not tested it) and it also means that any parts that do have crossfeed rules will force all resources that have crossfeed-affected flow modes to obey those rules.  For example, your engine alternators will stop feeding electricity to your batteries when you have the engines separated from the other electrics by a decoupler.  As I understand it, it also means that there is no way to selectively allow fuel, for example, to pass a part without also allowing electricity; there are no resource-specific filters.

If that is not a problem for you, then you can do it with a few modifications of the resources definition file.
