KASA is being continued by @GuessingEveryDay  as MASA!

Hey guys, I'm Misguided_Kerbal and I'm pretty new to the forums. This is going to be my first Mission report. Before you read this, I would just like to mention that I'm still a noob, so many missions (if posted here) will probably be my first. I'm playing on sandbox in 1.9.1, with both DLCs.

Now, moving on:

@Misguided_Kerbal, it seems that you're ready to start flying to space. I wish you good luck and great success on all your endeavors.

If you ever need help, don't be afraid to ask for it here; that's why the forum exists in the first place. I'm also willing to offer some assistance, as I've landed kerbals on all planets except for Eve.

  • Yes, that means I've done the Jool-5. With some time and experience (including failures), you can do that too.

Netstar I: The first satellite

In preparation for future missions, KASA decided to launch a communications satellite, Netstar I. It was totally not a design stolen from a rocket in a different universe (Try and guess). There was also no existing KASA decals a typo on the sticker that read "NASA" instead of "KASA", but nobody noticed.

KASA is planning to launch at least 3 more Netstar satellites. One in polar orbit, one in a 45 degree inclination orbit, and one in a 315 inclination orbit. I won't be posting those launches unless you guys want me to.

Planes and Orbits: 3 Kerbals in Space!

Lately, Jebediah had watched a lot of Netstar launches, but he was really bored. What was he getting paid to do? Nothing? So he convinced Bill to do something with him.

  Reveal hidden contents

Gene saw exactly how bored Jebediah was and put him on a mission before he could cause any more trouble. He, Bill, and Bob were going to be the first kerbals in space, on top of the imaginatively named Crew Transfer Vehicle.

Sorry if I'm spamming pictures, but I like pictures.

Rendezvous: Just why couldn't we dock?

As soon as Jeb and Bill and Bob got recovered, they were sent on another mission: CTV-2. They were going to dock with CTV-3

  Reveal hidden contents

Now, it would be Valentina's first launch, and she would try to dock with CTV-2 on CTV-3.

  Reveal hidden contents

You can see that we got really really close. However, that was on the second try. On the first try, I accidentally pressed z instead on h, and so it slammed into CTV-2, taking off one of each vehicle's solar panels and destroying CTV-3's docking port. Worst of all, I forgot to save before, so this is as close as we could get.

  Reveal hidden contents

Since they didn't manage to dock, plans have been scheduled to launch have CTV-4 and CTV-5 try to dock. A space station is also in the works. Names for the space station would be greatly appreciated, preferably some really long absurd acronym.

A station name... Hmm... what about DRACO? Designed for Radiation Above the atmosphere Containing Organic lifeforms? It's a bit of a stretch, I know...

That sounds like a good name. Putting it on my list.

So far, I've sorta thought of one name: HARMONY = High Altitude Research Mobile Orbiting _ _

Space Station: to be named

I was really bored The Kerbals decided to launch a space station. However, it was really heavy, and would need to go on a new rocket. I present to you... the BHPR (Big Heavy Payload Rocket)!

  Reveal hidden contents

Relatively fewer pictures today, compared to all the other posts. The space station still doesn't have a name, and names would be appreciated, preferably some really long absurd acronym. The name will be decided by me the Kerbonauts of CTV-4.

Oh man, that really sucks. I feel like I'm already doing something wrong. If I try to put it on my lap while running KSP it turns my legs red in about 5 seconds.

CTV-4: Failure

CTV-4 was launched to dock with CTV-5. But things went wrong on ascent because I pressed the wrong keys and was stupid a software glitch. So yeah. CTV-5 will aim to just dock with the station. I've been going mod hunting, so the list is probably outdated now. And the space station still doesn't have a name.

  Reveal hidden contents

As soon as they got back, Jeb started teasing Valentina, but then she mentioned the time he tried to buzz the air traffic control tower and then crashed into it, and he shut up. We still don't have a name for the space station, so go ahead. It would preferably be some really long absurd acronym.

X-1: Suborbital

Following the failure of CTV-4, the engineers at the spaceplane hangar, who were bored, decided to prove that they could do better.

  Reveal hidden contents

You might not notice, because the title read "suborbital", but the X-1 had an altitude of 100,000 km. I don't have any screenshots, though. The only thing that prevented the X-1 from reaching orbit was that the rapiers in closed-cycle mode kept overheating the wings. Future designs may contain the following: airbrakes, heat shield, movement of wings, orbital engines, RTGs, and something to keep Jebediah from landing upside-down. Nothing bad happened except the loss of the rudders. I'll have to look into that for future flights.

CTV-5 and X-1.2: Competition

After the flight of the X-1, the engineers at the VAB were enthusiastic about getting to orbit. So they made a few changes to the X-1, and dubbed the new version the X-1.2.

  Reveal hidden contents

The X-1.2 successfully reached orbit, and is also the first plane to have landed successfully. The engineers at the SPH finally had bragging rights. Meanwhile, the engineers at the VAB rushed to beat the SPH engineers. Instead of checking all of the action groups and stagings doing a quality inspection and testing, they rushed to launch CTV-5.

  Reveal hidden contents

There were a lot of problems. First was that there was a software bug the action groups were messed up, so the solar panels wouldn't extend. Second was that on approach to docking, a solar panel was chipped off because my terrible piloting skills Jebediah let Bob fly. However, it was not a complete failure because I managed EVA Bob into the space station. Problem was, the solar panels suddenly became glitchy, and now they're invisible, and I can't extend or retract them. We're looking at a rescue mission for Bob, a whole CTV redesign, and possibly a new space station. The Engineers at the SPH have teased the VAB engineers so much that they've locked themselves in the VAB. So much for being on the same team.

CTV-6: CTV Remade

After the failure of CTV-5, The CTV was redesigned from the ground up, packing better solar panels (Near Future Solar), cooler RCS ports (Near Future Spacecraft) and more monopropellant. To be honest, I never intended the engineers at the VAB never intended to make it look like an Orion  a nonexistent design from another universe.

  Reveal hidden contents

Valentina took lots of screenshots pictures, especially the new reentry plume from reentry particle effect strange scientific phenomena because of increased radiation. This time, Bill EVA'd from CTV-6 to the Space Station, with a ton of supplies and to keep Bob company. However, the probe core was somehow broken, so the station is now uncontrollable. A rescue mission was originally planned, but somehow there was a bug in the VAB and launch dialog that doesn't let me remove any crew everybody refused to get out of the new capsule because they wanted to have fun. So there's that. Anyway, CTV-6 performed flawlessly.

For the few people that read this, I still need a name for the new space station after CTV-7.

Proposed names so far:

DRACO - Designed for Radiation Above the atmosphere Containing Organic lifeforms          @Kerballing (Got Dunked On)

HARMONYHigh Altitude Research Mobile Orbiting Nuclear Yield point (To be honest, I literally went on google and searched "science words that begin with [letter]")

KASA-SS-1 Kerbal Aeronautics and Space Administration-Space Station-1 is my idea.

P.S. I just guessed that KASA meant for that and if I'm wrong just correct me.

You guessed KASA right, but I think it should be KASA-SS-2, because there's already a space station.
