Dres doesn't exist. How would you fill the void?

Dres clearly doesn't exist. Between Duna and Jool, there is a big ring of absolutely nothing. If you could, what would you replace the so-called "Dres" with?

I would replace it with an asteroid belt with some autogenerated derelict probes with top-tier parts, like relics of some past space program or possibly even another civilization.

Dres is merely the name for asteroid belt. The KSC doesn't want you to know the truth, so they land elsewhere, or use CGI!

I think add more dwarf planets. In irl in the asteroid belt there is Ceres, Vesta and Pallas. Really, most off us doesn't want those, so lets put a small planet there. Maybe with an atmosphere or not. Its orbit could be more simple, allowing easy travel to it. It could have more easter eggs, and large quantities of ore. It could be used as a refueling hub and a transport point. Its just Dres but a bit more interesting.

An orbiting Kraken that devours your ship if you get too close, making timing trips to jool more important would be my choice.
