I looked it up and it turns out it was Shemp, so I got it twice wrong. Richard Marx also went his own way and made some good songs.

That is a tough one. I would say the X3 series of Space Empire sandbox games. I like various bits of each of the X3 installments, but once you got the ability to remotely transfer goods between your ships in other solar systems with ease, it is hard to go back to the earlier ones.
