bQuest
KSP 1 doesn't feel right without the Kevin Macleod music, And the thought of it being hidden in the options or worse, Gone entirely is worrying. Will KSP 2 keep the old music as an option? Or will mods have to do this?
The Aziz
Probably not, they have their own composer (who does wonders) Your best choice would be probably to put it on 3rd party player.
Strawberry
My guess is they'll keep the same music (alongside new ones of course), just rerecord them/maybe add some more instruments to them.
The Aziz
Macleod's music may be royalty free but rerecording by KSP team would be straight up copyright infringement.

That said, MacLeod tends to be very chill about licensing, so long as people are nice about it, and would likely be happy to provide a mechanical license for a modest fee. Armed with one of these, Intercept would be free to create their own take on the piece for KSP2. Alternatively, I wouldn't mind seeing a few of the pieces used in KSP to come back as little Easter eggs. This can be done for free via attribution, but Incompetech provides a shockingly inexpensive standard license option as well, which tends to be a better option for games. (That way, you don't have to worry about attribution if that music ends up in a trailer, for example.) Either way, though, if this happens at all, I certainly don't expect it to be anything like the main themes. It would be little callback or Easter eggs hidden away somewhere. Anth
If they were intending to make some of the tracks sound close enough to his then they might as well get him to do it and actually pay him for it.

justspace103
KSP is getting its own original soundtrack. you can hear glimpses of it in the show and tell videos and there were a couple of instagram stories on the official account a while back showing the orchestra getting ready to record. Super exciting and cant wait!
