Should we start 'backup forums' for the worst case?

Since KSP 2 might be on the way to getting cancelled, I thought it might be good to find a backup forum to meet again if the plug is being pulled on KSP 1 and possibly its forums. With T2 you never know and it might be in the interest of them to get rid of us mouthy KSP 1 fanbois. If only to hide how good KSP 1 is compared to KSP 2.

And I don't want to have to meed on Discord, which simply is annoying as hell. Any suggestions? Is there a good forum already that I have missed? Is anyone stepping up to create one?

Or: Am I wrong, and there is no need. We should be able to trust them to carry this KSP 1 forum on for years to come?

That's a pessimistic take but there may, unfortunately be some water in that.

I think we'll likely get some sort of announcement that this'll happen then we'll need to rally to find a space for a new forum while maintaining as much of the original forum style as possible (i.e. organization and, heck, maybe even the same mods).

Spoiler

I'm hoping that this isn't the case.

Wow, and I am a bit of a pessimist, but I doubt KSP2 will be cancelled. There's a lot of mileage left in it. And there's still a lot of mileage left in KSP (Original), too. Although the original is no longer supported, it is still very operational on Windows and is still very actively modded by the community - and because of the ease of adaptability through mods, it may still see a long life ahead of it. It's my go-to game when I am stressed. As long as T2 can make money off either game, the forums are relatively safe. And it's probably a safe bet there will be a KSP3, too.

Fingers crossed :)

The Source must flow then!

Our team is fully funded, properly staffed, and completely focused on executing the full vision of KSP2 [...]

This project has from the beginning been viewed as a long-tail endeavor requiring a long-term investment. We are not worried about keeping the lights on

The doomsayers seriously ned to calm down.

Just out of curiosity, what am I missing to properly understand your post?

They are assumedly laughing at the concept of TTi pulling the plug on a forum that has practically no overhead, is basically run by volunteers from the community, and is most likely hosted on a 386 stuck in a broom closet in a basement.    Even if TTi is even aware of the forums existence, it would probably cost them more to shut it down than just let it run on forever.

Yes, someday this forum will eventually end, but I don’t foresee it happening anytime soon.
