What did you do in KSP1 today?

Can I go one day without a glitch?

I'm honestly just impressed that it's not exploding.

Aah, the classic spin glitch. I have a love- hate relationship with it- it dosen't affect my aerodynamics much but it is horrible for frame rates. At least it makes for good gifs!

So I was on my brand-new career mode and so I decided to land near the KSP.

The Kraken didn't like my precision.

Danny? That you? xD, how did you get the planet to stop... Planet-ing?

When you lose probe control shortly before a maneuver, but are still pointing 'in-the-right-direction-ish', so you execute anyway.

Still gets me an Ike flyby, so I'm good.

Today I sent a manned rover to Minnie Minmus for a 50 day mission, complete with a nearly full science kit and Surface experiment pack parts.

All was well and good but...

Guess who forgot to pack the actual plugs for the experiments?

I did that once twice.  I sent a mission to the Mun, Jeb had a really cool landing on the edge of a crater, Bob got out to assemble the SEP base... only to realize that there were no tools aboard ship.

So the aborted, went home, built another rocket, and headed back to the Mun.  Same ship, same payload.

Again, no screwdriver.

At that point I just cheated a screwdriver into Bob's inventory.

I flight-tested Tacitus, a science-surveying plane to be shipped to Laythe...

STOL performance is pretty good... stall speed with flaps down is about 30 m/sec.

The storage bin behind the cockpit holds most of the surveying equipment.

Pretty good visibility from the pilot's seat.

And, of course, my inspiration for the design was Tacit Blue:

Yesterday, for the "Holiday", I pretended to care about Star Wars Episode I.  I got about half way before shutting it off, but I was inspired.

I know I'm not the first to do this, but I'm rather proud of it, especially with how easily I was able to do it.  No, it doesn't hover(I'm not that talented), but it actually flies quite well.

(The crash was my fault - mainly because I didn't take into consideration that most of its yaw ability is in the reaction wheels)

Man you guys with your cool-ass shiz right now.

Meanwhile I got a convoy coming into Minmus:

Ran a little thin on fuel on my reusable launcher so decided to top it off for landing. Note to self: Never do this.

I actually paid attention to the startup screen, loading my save, to see that I've over 80 active missions.

I thought the lag was starting to creep worse.

Your not the one with an Kessler syndrome level of space junk around kerbin. I can’t even launch anything to remove it.... I mean it’s an old save that I don’t even use anymore but still. Lag on it is absolutely horrendous last I opened it.

Neither Eve nor Dres are in good positions to launch for right now, so I took a break from designing my lorge rescue craft to build a smol unkerballed mun lander.

It's so tiny and cute!

There was one biome that I'd previously visited, before I'd unlocked all the science parts, so I already had the surface sample, etc. I had no reason to send a Kerbal back, so I built a tiny probe to land there and grab the missing science.

I seriously don't know if you are insulting or complimenting me

Think it of a compliment. Unless you despise Danny2462...

(I was referencing Danny's insane world- breaking wrath, and trying to make a joke)

Would you mind posting a craft file?

Sure!  I made a few minor changes based on the test flight.

CoLoN0g.png

It takes off at 50 m/sec and I recommend flying the approach to landing at 50-60 m/sec.  Stall speed is about 30 m/sec.  The flaps don't really do much for stall speed, maybe reduce it a couple of meters per second, but they do a good job at slowing you down on the approach.

Handling is sedate in roll but quite nimble in pitch, with the airframe able to sustain 12 G turns without damage.

Full-throttle endurance at low-level is about two hours, or almost four hours at 7000 meters, giving a maximum range of over  2200 km at 165 m/sec (almost 600 kph).

Refueling on-site with KIS/KAS or EVA Transfer fuel lines is recommended for long-duration missions.

57Poksh.png

It can ditch in the water safely, but can't take back off again.  You'll have to lower the wheels and taxi up onto the shore to get airborne again.

GRbj2DL.png

Make the attached stack decoupler the root part for mounting the plane on a rocket.  Or discard it to go flying around Kerbin.

The probe core is the default root part, so no crew will be seated unless you add them.

The storage bin includes the stock science parts, as well as an Experiment Storage Unit.  Your scientist can walk back down the side of the fuselage to reset the experiments that need it and grab the data from the storage can.  I recommend waiting until you land, however.
