What did you do in KSP1 today?

I've sent about 8ktons of 'Badger' into LKO atop a @Stratzenblitz75 inspired reusable booster, using KOS to help relieve the tedium of the return process.

Really like how that looks, wish I built my big launch systems that pretty.

Also, yesterday I completed 1000km of my Tylo Elcano. Only 3000+ to go... yay...

Check out Stratz' kerbol 0 video, that's where I got the inspiration from, although my booster is perhaps 50% larger and more powerful (if not as carefully tailored to it's payload).  I must have watched that about 200 times to reverse engineer his design!

(and thank you! I love it too, but very much borrowed the aesthetic from Stratzenblitz :) )

Earlier this week the original Four arrived at Vall again and set up the seismic detector, awaiting the impact probe Gigajoule.

And found a new bug *to me*...  Kerbals auto-faceplant when  using Locked view for a nearby landed ship.
Not new I see: https://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/File:Glitched_Kerbals.png

I am FURIOUS with ksp right now! I just want to do a SIMPLE minmus rover mission. I had a nice encounter with minmus set up and then i do the burn. Burn complete and im off plane and on a flyby of the mun…  as a result i am stuck in space trying to not yeet my computer across the room. Things are so screwed up mechjeb cannot or will not find a bloody intercept with minmus after ordering a plane match. Wish me luck. 014302152025 and its been years since ksp got me THIS angry.

what should be a 10 day (kerbal clock) mission has so far taken 64 and im STILL not circularized!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Capture completed at MET: 0y,64d, 4:48:00…… 015202152025 btw yes i know ive subjected myself to sunk cost fallacy. Why? Im not a clear thinker when angry. Now im landing and calmer… still angry but calmer. Angry at ksp, and angry at something else too. Heady bad combo. Thx for letting an old fool vent. 015702152025 yea im angry at the spam calls too…

splashdown at MET: 0y, 93d, 04:42:29. 93 days, 4 hours, 42 minutes, and 29 seconds. For a stupid minmus mission. Even landing took longer than normal. Aerobraking typically gets me down first try. This time even setting target atmo depth to 35km took two passes…. Im not sure the 397.8 science from a minmus mission with a rover was worth it. Yes now i have 744 total science, but a minmus mission even one where you send a rover up to the ship going to minmus should take 10 times longer than normal. 023302152025

after a bit of a cool down break, I did a Mun mission. This one went much better than Minmus, and netted almost 100 more science too! This leaves me a few nodes left to unlock in science tech tree. Once I do that, i am going to have to decide go back to my prime save or stay in science. Meanwhile, ON the way to the Mun:

I did a speed run to the Mun for my ore delivery challenge. Acquired 1 ore from the Mun and delivered it to LKO in 1 day 46 minutes 45 seconds.

I used a rocket with high TWR of 3 - 5. Went straight up, out of the atmosphere in 3 minutes. Direct collision course with the Mun.Py768Cu.jpg

Landing burn was over 1000 m/s because I did not enter orbit. Only took 13 seconds to perform with TWR 100.aEqmfqs.jpg

Mining the 1 unit of ore only took 20 seconds. Then straight back to Kerbin overhead.mPWQb2u.jpg

Did you work out what was wrong?  Off balance vessel, or off-centre "control from"?  Or was it just random floating point trouble?

Once I've tried reverting to save and repeating a few times, if I can't attribute problems to bad design or bad piloting, I would give myself a break and with clear conscience break out the cheat menu in such situations.  I tend to think if one has put in the effort there's a time to move on to the next enjoyable bit.  Either that or have fun with a rescue mission.

Sounds like in your case you were able to self rescue, with no need to call out the "Blunderbirds"! :D

Get your lawyer ready if you want to do that….

Yep.

Although technically you can't make people pay for any mod that is used in KSP, so if anybody cared there would be a lot more lawyers involved.

I am currently dividing my time between recreating alternate history spacecraft and working on the grand tour. Eve SSTO advice, anyone?

After a bit of struggle, I remembered that propellers existed, but for some reason my computer really hates having parts in 40x symmetry close to each other (no idea why), so I'll have to settle for multiple smaller sets of propellers rather than a couple of large ones.

Will you go for the Mun speed run after you are done with the circumnavigation? Times below a day seem possible!

Depends. The Elcano is part of my Jeb-Level Jool V (thought i'd kill two birds with one stone), so maybe after I'm done with that.

Sent a fly-by probe to my kopernicus planet in a insanely close (less than a gigameter), elliptical, and inclined orbit around kerbol.  I remained in it's SOI for a minute and a half, traveling at 25 kilometers per second.

Update: Sent an orbiter that circularized just above the planet's orbit, than used ion engines to match inclination. I then set up an encounter, and had a slow enough rendezvous that I was able to complete the capture burn before leaving the SOI. The orbiter doesn't have any radiators after jettisoning ion stage though, so it's days are numbered...
