Is there any reason why people shoudl bother docking now, when they can just attach ship to ship with claw? Does using claw on ship have some downsides?

I'm guessing that the claw will mass more than a docking port. Also, if alignment is important, like during orbital assembly, the docking ports are better.

If this is true it might save me hours of cussing at my screen trying to get a maneuver setup, only to be told it is a full orbit away :mad: .

That shouldn't be a problem any more with the addition of the "next orbit" and "previous orbit" buttons.

Well, for one thing, docking ports look better on stuff like space stations and large spacecraft.

Also, the claw won't be unlocked until late in the tech tree.

Also in Pleborian's video he got a pretty circular orbit and there was NO shakieness to the AN/PN markers at all.

Now THAT, that is wonderful news! It seems that setting up transfers will only cause slight hair greying, instead of full loss like in the days of old :D

On the other hand, I was really hoping for a 3.75m capsule with crew capacity of 5 or 6. Maybe next time...

Yes the Claw has a pivot! And you can toggle it off and on!

When you grapple yourself onto the asteroid, the asteroid counts as a part of your ship and is named this. So if you want to name an asteroid, you'd nee to attach a probe to it and name the probe what you want the asteroid to be called.

The asteroids I think come in a good range of size from barely movable to wackjob amounts of fuel needed :P

This is .18 all over again!!! Seriously, this update is just full of surprises! Time-warping in the tracking station? Flags on ships? New SRBs? This update is awesome.

sooo, how much time before someone will turn the claw into an hinge? :P

Lolbster is in his next stream. He's going to put a kerbal in orbit, and attach ships on either side of it to play kerbal tug of war!

Although I think you mean use it for like a train and stuff. THAT would be really cool. I'm building my next moon base like a train! Thanks for the idea!

The pivot on the claw is a really great solution to the CoT/CoM issue from earlier. It also looks like you can target CoM, or at least CoM will be reported as the the current target based on what's been shown in the preview.

I'm definitely going to start a new Campaign save when this comes out. I'm going to transition to using fewer mods than I have in the past.

This means I need to wrap up my Jool mission on my current save...

Kind of a nitpick, but why are the exhaust plumes from the new engines all different colours? It looks very inconsistent.

liquid fuel exhaust is steam. solid fuel exhaust is smoke. essentially

Not really. Liquid fuel in KSP is roughly comparable to kerosene/LOX, not LH2/LOX. Heck, even for kerosene the density of the stuff is hardcore :P

Also, no knocking new engine effects, I want more of them!

When an asteroid hits Kerbin, Laythe Eve, Duna etc.

It should cause an explosion... or... If It hits the water of Eve Kerbin or Laythe It should cause a cataclysmic tidal wave.

These asteroids are small enough that the only damage it can cause is to your ship or a few fish in the ocean.

This was in the game before, except mouse wheel acted both as zoom and as maneuver adjust. If the map stops zooming when you point at the icon, good. The question is whether you can still screw up your maneuver while zooming.

Don't underestimate the asteroids.... an asteroid the size of a plane could destroy a whole LOT OF CRAP (In real life) since the kinetic velocity is very high... But If you slowed It down enough you could make the tidal wave or explosion be smaller

NOTE: KSP runs on the Unity engine and Unity announced Unity 5 so... The Unity engine will be better faster and stronger. and KSP will be easier to make on the devs.
