How to fix solar panels?

Recommended Posts

According to this official post (scroll down to the last set of tables for the 3 classes), the only engineer-fixable things at this time are wheels at level 3, landing legs at level 2, and repacking parachutes at level 1. Anything else is not fixable at this time.

Broken solar panels are shatterd. All parts floating away. You can't just glue those back thougether

Well, technically you probably could - this is kerbal technology we're talking about. The problem really is that you can't actually go and pick up the broken pieces (possible idea for a suggestion? :D)

While repairable landing legs, repairable wheels, and repackable parachutes have been in the game for a little while, solar panels have never been fixable. I don't know if they are going to add repair-ability to them now that there is an engineer class, but I agree that it would be nice. :)

So you're not doing anything wrong, it's just not an option.

Cheers,

~Claw

The sort of thing that will be looked at during beta, I would think. I'm expecting all the specialisations to get more/different jobs, although the pilot seems fairly complete (not what I'd like, but plausible).

Hey, if it really bothers you (don’t feel ashamed — it bothers me too) you can go into your save file in a text editor, search for “deployState = BROKEN” and change “BROKEN” to “EXTENDED.” It’s kind of a cheat, but you can send up a random ship and pretend they’re fixing it themselves, eh?

I think what Gargamel means to say is welcome to the forum and it was nice of you to offer help to another forum member in your first post here. :)

Why, thank you. Nah I get it. Didn't see the date until he mentioned it, so... oof, I guess. Glad to be here, though!

And as Vanamonde said, we are glad to see you here too.

There are many good things in KSP.  Keep it quiet but since the game's not for the casual player that also means this community is possibly one of the nicest you'll meet in gaming.  It's not personal, it's rocket science *grin*.

Yeah, that!  Welcome aboard!

Konsidering that Kerbals somehow have infinite tyre air and parachutes in their back pockets, it's not unreasonable to think they should be able to just hit a broken panel with a hammer and repair it.

Well, if you think they should be repairable, you can always open a thread in the Suggestions sub-forum about it.

However, since this thread is a gameplay question-- from over four years ago, and long since answered-- further discussion here is likely moot.  ;)

Accordingly, locking the thread to prevent further confusion.
