What if we told you that you can have a much wider pick in engines, fuel tanks and other parts, as well as get gigantic solar arrays, bigger structural parts and so much more without adding much at all to your memory usage?

That’s exactly what Tweakscale will provide you with! The mod allows you to resize a lot of parts in the game which means you can have a 3.75 meter Rockomax 48-7S engine, or a truss that’s two times its original size, and while all that is happening the part properties scale along with it where applicable.

Tweakscale was originally developped by Goodspeed and Biotronic, but due to a lack of time they’ve passed on the torch to Pellinor.

Get the mod HERE

Come on Squad... you know that this should be stock.

I tend to agree, but I would hope that squad would create more procedural parts so this wasn't necessary. Like having one "fuel tank" part to rule them all. I'm imagining something with two sliders: circumference and length (amount of fuel).

The interface could be better, and yes it could be less buggy (what in this game couldn't?) but in a game where Tweakscale is the ONLY method to get fuel tanks and various other things (SETI balance mode) the entire way of building rockets is changed into something much cleaner and far more fun.

I'm not sure if I'd like it as a new player. But I love it as me.

I use this.

But.. I would like to be able to toggle off the automatic sizing. Other than that it is FAB!

Your wish is my command ;-)

pre-release for the next version is up!

With autoscale off by default. There are hotkeys for this, but they tend to be known only by the people interested in such a feature.

Thanks!

I haven't been using the mod because of the autosizing bugs (in the VAB, and in-flight).

What really caused me to stop was an underflow bug in the VAB that caused the mass to roll past zero, and since it was unsigned, went to VERY massive (millions of kg) for a 0.625m part. For some reason, I guess it was always using relative sizes, as opposed to always calculating based on the stock size and mass.

TBH, I like it, but only used it for IR, since it was so buggy. I haven't tried it since 0.25 though. I hope it's a lot better. :-)

One aspect of craft building, that I like, is solving a problem using the parts I'm given. The 'stock' game - in career mode - forces you to think about parts counts and mass limits, until everything is upgraded. The variety of unique parts we have - add a "Tetris" puzzle game aspect to career-mode contract challenges. I want to keep parts diversity. It would not seem "right" to me, to just scale one or two base model tanks to fit a huge variety of sizes and capacities, quickly solving a building challenge.

But, I think tweak options in general, could be very useful at helping with other things. As a new player, my eyes kinda bugged out at the huge amount of parts on display. The new categories and custom categories added in .90 give new ways to organize parts, but, that doesn't really help a new player.

I think adding tweak options to switch or select (not scale) similar part types, would help cut down on visual clutter in the toolbox - for ex. wing sections (delta wing: large and small, other generic A and B versions. Switching between FL-100 thru 800.) This could also be visualized with a gizmo: after placing a generic FL tank, a gizmo (or highlight color) could indicate variants are available: accessed by right-click, scroll wheel, and/or tugging at the gizmo.

A perfect TweakScale option would be (atleast for the LFO tanks) Change diameter whitch we have now and a second toggle for changing leinght. That way we could have only one LFO tank to rule them all... I mean replace them all. Also for structural parts that option could strech them withouth making the wider.

I like the idea of the mod as a mod, and I can see a lot of people having fun with it, but I don't understand why anyone would want this to be stock. Surely the whole fun of KSP is putting things together using the parts you have unlocked so far (in career mode). If Tweakscale was stock, you could do anything and go anywhere with just four parts: one engine, one fuel tank, one pod and one stack separator. For the same reason I'm unconvinced that procedural fairings are going to be more fun than fixed-size ones.

That's why both the radial width and the length of the fuel tanks are limited in stock to your progression through the tech tree.

A.K.A. They thought of that :)

Which is actually kind of dumb, if you ask me, especially concerning length. I can clearly stack Procedural Tanks one on top of the other to my heart's content, why can't I have a single tank to the length I want? Do we have to retain the whole "floppy rockets" thing just because that's how it's always been? Joint strength actually makes a single part just as good as a bunch already.

E: I guess Tweakscale doesn't really concern this sort of thing, just sort of going along with the conversation. Tweakscale does a great job as-is.

But... but... muh 30 part limit. How am I ever supposed to have fun if there's no hard limitations on how I can play my sandbox space game?
