  1. I've used the structural tube as a lightweight body segment for aircraft builds, it is possible to mount some things inside them to keep them out of the air-stream.... I have no idea how you might use it as a fairing replacement. I don't see the relation between a structural segment and a parachute.
  2. It looks as though module 1 is in a polar orbit. That is a very, very tough orbit to try and match. -Your almost perfectly circular orbit, isn't really necessary, close to circular is close enough. -For practice try and aim to have your Station around 100km or so. -Try launching everything to the East around the equator to make things way easier for your first few attempts. This will make it easier for you to have module 1 hold a normal or anti-normal attitude. That will make the final approach to docking far easier. Adding lights onto both craft will also make things easier when you get closer. -It might be easiest if you begin with by matching only one side of the target orbit, either the highest or the lowest, and have the other side of your orbit higher or lower than your targets orbit. You will wind up either catching up on your target, or having it catch up to you... play around with the time warp and you'll see what I'm trying to say. -You should put more than one set of thrusters on your space craft. 1 set of 4 thrusters on each end of the space-craft for a total of 8 thrusters should do it. You can mess around making sure they are equal distance from the space-crafts Centre Of Mass ( COM ) but for this just having them at each end of the spacecraft doing the docking is enough. -The "globe thing" with the markers on it is your Artificial horizon, or as most call it the 'Navigation Ball', For a description of the Nav-Ball, look up Scott Manley on You-Tube. He explains things quite well. -You can get quite a few tips from the in-game tutorial -Keep flying! Cheers
  3. Scott Manley has some excellent youtube videos
  4. I'm playing on a PS4, Enhanced Edition, 1.01, normal, default. I have not played KSP on any other platform. I've never really used the Scan-sat functions to any degree, other than to fulfil a contract by lobbing one into orbit. I'm not a Scanning guru by any stretch, but the nearly instant results for a scan were different than the normal mode of play where a player normally has to wait, and time things correctly (orbit intercepts, transfer windows, etc). I'm pleased to see that KSP has included another tool for players with the 'Kerb-net access'... but it seems to be of limited functionality, particularly on console. I'd love to make some detailed maps of each planet 'in game' detailing; resources, anomalies, biomes, and use it for tracking places/things I haven’t explored. I may be just be using the game resources incompletely or just incorrectly, but being able to reference a map instead of scrolling around in the science archives to try and find what I may have missed would seem to be a more complete game. I have no idea how demanding sorting this out would be on my console processor, but once I've "mapped" an anomaly, a resource, or a biome, why isn't that data readily available to me as I plummet to a semi-controlled landing?
  5. Yeah, so if there is any chance that the Next site added for us to hurl Kerbals from could be called, Hawking Spaceport That would be kinda neat.
  6. I've only just started launching things to other planets, but here's what I've done. First, it does matter where you are planning to go, the planets outside of Kerbins orbit require you to leave Kerbins Sphere Of Influence in the same direction(pro-grade) that Kerbin is orbiting the sun. Planets inside of Kerbins orbit require you to leave Kerbins SOI in the opposite direction (retro-grade) that Kerbin is orbiting the sun. There are specific times when it is easier to get to other planets, you'll have to look for some sort of reference material on KSP interplanetary transfer windows. Once you have picked a direction to go, make a burn and wait until you have left Kerbins SOI. Once outside the SOI of Kerbin target the planet and set-up a manoeuvre node. Play with the pro-grade/retro-grade, until. it's as close as you can get, (watch for the white intercept markers to get close to each other.) Get the intercept marker to give you the closest approach by putting the cursor on it and hitting the Circle button on PS4. You will probably have to increase or decrease each of the following: move the node forward/backward, radial in/radial out, normal/anti-normal, and of course the pro-grade/retro-grade. Do each thing one at a time, watching the intercept marker for its closest value. Once you have an Sphere of influence intercept, do the burn and wait. Good time to level up some Kerbins and get that science from your labs. About 1/3 of the way there you may have to do another manoeuvre, due to... (Solar wind or kerbal calculation errors) Check again by 2/3 of the way there to insure you still hit your target. There are a few great beginner/intermediate videos on you-tube. Scott Manley explains the interceps well, even if he's only using a pc.
  7. You need to select a Manned Command Pod or a Probe Core to begin placing most of the parts available.
  8. I have no advice to offer, just a humble Kudos to you, for offering your time.
  9. I'm looking to upgrade my console... Which MOD allows for the creation of a Dyson Sphere?
  10. Scott Manley has a bunch of you-tube videos for beginners.
  11. The gameplay and some of the design ideas he discusses are just fine for learning. I play on a PS4 and the 'pc based' you-tube videos are still relevant for 'how-to' purposes.
  12. Looks like it could use elevators. Using the flaperons and ailerons for pitch control can work, but are not necessarily very responsive or stable. Tail dragger designs (reverse trike) are notoriously difficult to control on the ground.
  13. If distance is your problem, either bring more fuel or burn less. There is nothing stopping you from adding another small fuel tank ( or more) in-line with your existing juno jet engines. Intake, tank, tank, engine.
  14. I'll definitely be taking them outside Kerbins sphere of influence. So, if a crew has entered the Muns SOI, orbited the Mun, landed on the Mun, and then planted a flag on the Mun, they will all only get the experience points for planting a flag on the Mun. In that case my question becomes, are the experience points for each of the other things like, only entering the SOI, then only orbiting, and then only landing, all still available? And must they be collected by only doing those specific things? So it would be a good strategy to only flyby for one mission, then go and do an orbit for one mission, and then land for one mission, then do it all over again and plant a flag. Rinse and repeat for all my Kerbals.
  15. I'm playing KSP Enhanced Edition 1.01 on PS4, Career Mode, normal difficulty, default controls. My Kerbals seem to have stopped earning experience, "No Experience Gained" after every mission. I've been trying to do things like cycle all the Kerbals to the space station, and Mun base do do their various jobs but I seem to be capping out at level 2. I have rescued quite a few Kerbals, and they are all very low level, so I'm about to launch a few missions specifically to earn some experience and get them to a useful level. My space program is about to launch it's first Duna probe, so interplanetary Kerbals aren't happening yet. After looking at some videos on how to accomplish this, I have a couple questions; -Do Kerbals gain experience for doing job specific tasks? -Do all Kerbals on a Mission have to EVA and plant flags on the Mun and Minmus? Or will one flag be enough for the group? -If I orbit the Mun or Minmus, do I have to come back on a different mission to get the experience for doing a landing? It "seems" that they will only get experience for one thing per celestial body. -Do my Kerbals all have to orbit Kerbal and then on a different mission plant flags on Kerbal? Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated...

  18. I'm on a PS4 and this happens to me. Dropping frame rates happens to consoles when the part count gets higher.
  19. I play KSP on console, I'd rather not have spy-ware on my console or computer, legal or otherwise. Why is such a great game constantly in so much turmoil.
  20. I'm playing on a PS4 console, so no MODs or expansions..... yet. Nice pic!
